Thanks for the shout outs.  It's good to be back.  The house has been treating us well.  We did have some roof repairs to deal with as well as a visit by Roto-Rooter, but all that is behind us and we are enjoying our place.  I'm now off to my final choir rehearsal before Christmas Eve.  We are doing 3 John Rutter pieces, "Nativity Carol", "Shepherd's Pipe Carol" and "Christmas Lullaby", all of which are sounding great.  We are also doing a piece by Contemporary composer, Tom Conry called "Born of Peace", which is just fantastic.  More later...

Page 10 dance... something that goes with the Shepherd's Pipe Carol.   Perhaps something with actual shepherd on top?

So...

I walk into the casting director's office, and the big table that is usually covered in stacks of headshots and resumés is, instead, covered in boxes of chocolates, cakes, cookies, etc.  Christmas/Hannukah/Holiday/Thank-You gifts!  -Of course, I was dropping off a box of cookies of my own making to add to the spread.

What was cool to find out was that since they are closing down the office over the next two weeks, they will be delivering any of the "leftover" goodies to Harvest House, a homeless shelter program.  -And from the looks of some of the packages, it looks like the recipients will be enjoying some pretty haute goodies.

I got a notice from the DMV saying I have to update my driver's license picture-- and pay them for it) and somehow accomplish this in the next week.  Sure, the one on my license was taken in my 30's, but I look happy (and just a trifle cute).  I do not look like that anymore, but i will at least smile and look happy.

It as drizzled today, and I still have chores to do.

DR Laura is happy though because I promised her frosting.

If any vibeage can be spared, perhaps a few could be sent this way as Dear Cat Freddy has been gone since yesterday morning. I had the neighbors check their garage today, but nada.

I hope he wasn't mistaken for a snow drift.

Come home safe, Freddy, vibes!

How are things at the Nursie Lassner Wedding Chapel today? Did her DIL-to-be arrive safely? I may have missed that part of the saga.

Future DIL arrived without any problems, just late at night.

I'm glad you are beginning to feel better. DS Craig is coming down with a cold & my sinus problem, or whatever it is, is worst.

Claudia Barrett is from ROBOT MONSTER...I think JRAnd might be confusing that film with THE ASTRO ZOMBIES.

ROBOT MONSTER!?!?

DR Druxy, this is the first time since you've joined HHW that you've questioned DR MBarnum's taste in movies? Seriously?

Who am I to talk?

I make movies for Roger Corman.

I wonder if mail is being delivered today in the snow.

Usually we don't get mail on days half this bad, but lo and behold, we got it today.

I got mail, but I have not gotten packages, which means several late Christmas presents.  Damn!

Earlier today, while I was checking out Michael Ruhlman's blog for his gift suggestions, he reminded everyone that a thermos is a great way to keep sauces warm when they have to be held for a while.

So, I just asked der B if we have a thermos.  I thought it would be a great way to transport the white sauce for the creamed onions on Christmas.

No, he replied.  But we have a jug he got from the hospital, that has an inner liner and is intended to hold ice.

Uh, no.  Not the same thing.

We'll probably be heading over to K-Mart or WalMart tomorrow to make a quick purchase.

DR SWW - Couldn't you purchase a thermos at your place of employment?  -And possibly get a discount on said purchase?
We don't have 'em.

Trust me, I know what Jamie has in General Merchandise - we dish about his department often enough (and you wouldn't believe the deal I was able to get on some Corningware dishes about a month ago, seventy-five percent off and then the employee discount, let me tell you!).

(Yes, Jamie is one of the "club-members" at work.  We talk about how his long-distance relationship with Mike is going on a regular basis.)

>>I'm sorry, but Mr. Bush is going to go down as the worst President in the history of this country - and that's saying something.

Let us not forget that it was Barney Franks and the Democrats who demanded this bailout, not to mention the failed stimulus plan of a few months ago, happen, and that Bush simply caved in to their pressure.

Let's not forget that Obama has the guy responsible for the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae debacles as a financial advisor! (And that 2  years ago Bush tried to get more oversight for those 2 companies and it was the Democrats who blocked that attempt, with Barney Franks himself saying both entities were working just fine.

Wonder what woudl happen if the American taxpayers, in aggregate, got together and refused to pay their taxes on April 15. If the entire population said, "Go ask the banks and get *our*  money from them," they couldn't all be arrested!

So...

Did you ever make it New York City?

Did you see The 39 Steps?

If you did see the show, were you able to see it from your seat?

Did you feel safe where you were staying?

Did you feel safe in Times Square?

*Btw, the representative from Massachusetts is named, "Barney Frank," not "Barney Franks".  And let's not forget the financial advisors and financial leaders that have been and still are associated with the current administration.  And by saying the President Bush "caved in" to the pressure - which had proponents on both sides of the aisle - well, that doesn't speak well of his leadership either.

Matthew, have you ever sung Rutter's setting of the 23rd Psalm?  Lovely, but insanely difficult--basses (which would be me, BTW) start on a high E on a long "E" vowel sound.  Not easy, for me at least.  I just did two nice Rutter pieces with my church choir, For the Beauty of the Earth and All Things Bright and Beautiful, neither of which are the traditional melodies.

There are folks at the church where I sing who would be happy if we did all Rutter, all the time.

He's certainly nice, but I am glad we have more variety.    :)
