Well, you've read the notes, the notes harked and the Harold Angels ratted out several people, and now it is time for you to post until the Christmas cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CONNOISSEUR!

TOD: In the very early 2000s, I found quite a bit of stuff I wanted on Ebay. My favorites way back then were some programs and Playbills from decades earlier.
-
Congrats to MR BK on his new millstone.
-
Congrats to BK on your millstone!
-
Gin and poker are two good games - I had never heard of Kalooki so I had to look it up.
Interesting.
-
Jrand, it looks like you'll reach 91,000 very soon.
Maybe even today?
-
Yes EBAY used to be an AUCTION site.....although I like the Buy It Now option now and that's what I usually use.
EBAY is where I met former Dear Readers JMK and MBARNUM.
-
And JMK directed me to HHW back in 1994 or so....so I am celebrating my 30th year here at the most popular site on the internet.

Interesting.
It was played with two decks of cards, so that 104-card deck was a bit tricky to shuffle.

Up early and headed to Physical Therapy.....29 degrees outside.....ugh.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept will until 3:45, then spent the next two hours dozing and playing with Thatch and Annabelle.
-
I have several things to accomplish today:
1. schedule Access-a-Ride for tomorrow night;
2. Thank you ecards to all the ballet personnel in Bloomington;
3. Launder any clothing I need for tomorrow night.
-
Good morning, all.

I just dropped Nathan off for his colonoscopy, so I'm on call for picking him up when he's done. It's only ten minutes away.
-
Other than that, I have things to get done around here today, and we're meeting Kristi's brother and his wife for dinner this evening at one of the area's traditional Italian jernts.

They let you leave? They practically hogtie the drivers here, so scared they’ll not be there when they want to let the patients go .
-
Access-a-Ride scheduled. One down.
-
Last night Vixdad was watching a documentary about Rush Limbsugh’s trials for his malicious lies about Sandy Hook.
It just made me so angry.
He’s a monster and he’s still briadcasting and hasn’t paid out a cent.
I wish he could just be thrown into jail until he pays up, and be forbidden to ever speak publicly again

They actually encourage it. I could wait there if I insisted on doing so, but they're just as happy to keep the place clear of people who don't need to be there. It's great being so early on the schedule, though. We were practically the only ones there at 7 a.m.

I won a few items at some silent auctions. I also won a couple of items at a charity auction, including a trip aboard the clipper ship, the Victory Chimes, which sails off the coast of Maine.

Black Forest Cake Day seems like it's worth celebrating.
Indeed.
-
But "stretch marks" day or "catalytic converter" day are a bridge too far.
-
.
For Something on a Stick Day, it sounds like one could do that to Sondheim's "Someone in a Tree"
And there's something on a stick, or the day is incomplete.
Without something on a stick, nothing happened here.
One could try that, but one probably shouldn't.

Thursday morning greetings! Not sure where this week has gone, but here we are. Today I’m off to Dayton for lunch with some friends.

Hmm, maybe a "State Fair" and "Pacific Overtures" mash-up would be right for "Something On a Stick."
There is a Hammerstein and Sondheim connection, after all.

PT was good today.....and next week I have two sessions.....and after a reevaluation I may be cut loose to work on my own.
Miss Kelly is very pleased with my progress....as am I.

I have actually accomplished all three tasks, so I am free the rest of the day. I have some small things to putter around the apartment, but I am taking it easy.
-
I'm up.
Yes.
Truly.
-
Yes, vixmom and singdaw, Rush Limbaugh is "dead-and-buried" and, in my thoughts, burning in hell.
I so want others, including "45", to join them.
-
I hate wishing anyone ill, but if in life someone is a true s**t, "ill" is all I can muster.
-
If I am not mistaken, today is Thursday in the CSRA.
Weather seems pleasant, too.
And it's cubed steak day at the Triangle Restaurant.
I will say it's my favorite day of the week because of that, but yesterday was fried pork chop day (they don't have regular rotation on that), so I bought a meal plus an extra chop for my dinner.
Twas good!

I suddenly recalled why April 26 is a question mark on my calendar.
I have received a summons from the County Clerk to serve as a Circuit Court Juror. I have until the 26th to fill out their required paperwork.
One of the boxes on the form says that if I am over 65, I may be excused from serving.
Last I checked, I was 75. That should do it, I think.
Of course, it could be interesting and could expand my view of the County and its citizens. I need to know more about how long the service will be.

Have you ever served on jury duty in this county?
-
I recommend serving on a jury if one is able. Especially intelligent people like Ron to balance out the inevitable dimwits. I’ve served on trials twice and wow, you’ll never go broke underestimating how brainless a jury of your peers can be.

From DR John:
Turns out the main writer for the early seasons of All Creatures is the writer of the upcoming miniseries, A Gentleman in Moscow. I loved that novel.
I didn't realize it was the same writer. I loved the novel even more on the second read. I hope the miniseries does it justice and that the humor is not lost.

I used to check Goodwill’s auction page for record lots. It’s mostly total junk but one time there was a set of library recordings from NBC-TV, electronic music cues from the early ‘70s. A real treasure I thought I’d snag. Got into a bidding war and lost. Still regret that sometimes.

Maybe it could morph into "I do not care for page six" - but that would sound like a slam on the New York Post.
-
"I do not care for page four" would be very easy in terms of meeting the goal. You just set the goal low, and you'll never be disappointed.

I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. I'm going to send Bryan a photo of my surgery and ask if he thinks it looks infected or if I should return to my doctor before my Tuesday appointment. I don't think it is infected but it seems as if it should be looking and feeling less painful.
-
When I was a kid, my grandmother was a friend of the Albaugh family - I think they went to our church - and Art Albaugh owned a large auction house on, I believe, Crawford Street. I have memories of being there during the days when there were no actions: furniture piled high, household items from vacuum cleaners and washers to kitchen stoves and automobile items. It was a fascinating place to play in. I do remember being there several nights with my grandmother while auctions were going on. I don't remember her ever getting anything. I think she just like the socializing.
-
Around 1990, while I was with the Gay Men's chorus, I used to spend Thanksgiving holidays with a few other Chorus friends at the home of the conductor, Gary Miller in Philmont, NY, just outside Albany. One Thanksgiving weekend we spent a Saturday at an auction where Gary bought a used grand piano for the house.

Just finishing up We Were Once a Family, which won a book award recently for best nonfiction. It looks at children caught up in the child welfare system, which is particularly horrifying in Texas. Hard hitting but vital. Hope it opens some eyes and minds.

Only vaseline is permitted, and it must be applied every day with a bandage change.

They won't let you leave without a ride so they are covered. I think it is a matter of convenience, maybe they have had issues with rides not returning on time.

TOD: I used to use eBay to get some rare or out-of-print records - won some auctions, lost some auctions. But now I use Discogs where you pay what they ask, and you generally get better information about what exactly you will be getting. Some listings do have a "make an offer" option for those who enjoy haggling.
-
Our colonoscopy office doesn't really have enough waiting room for everyone, so they encourage you to leave and come back. They are very sure to get your mobile phone number before you leave. They have been pretty good on their time estimates too.
-
In the early days of Ebay, I kept bidding on a VHS copy of Evening Primrose. This was probably before DVD and certainly before it was commercially released. In the final moments of each auction, I would lose. But I finally did win a copy.

Twas a busy day
-
Right from work I went to church to set up for the Maudy Thursday service.
-
I was set up in time to partake in the soup and bread dinner served by some members of our Latino community.
-
I had the chicken and beef soup ( as it was labeled)
-
It was basically chicken vegetable soup with rice and no chicken meat, but it did have beef meatballs.
-
It sounds odd but it was actually quite delicious
-
The other choices were cabbage soup and a lentil soup
-
Neither of which I cared to try
-
Then we had a very moving service , after which I helped set up everything for tomorrow's Good Friday Tennebrae
-
By time I got home it was just after 10
-
I've got to get to bed it's another busy day tomorrow
-
Good night
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
Regarding today’s topic: I bought several posters from BK in the past including an original Rags and the Ron Field revival of On the Town. I just received an email from Triton Gallery that the original Rags poster is selling for $225 and the On the Town poster is going for $195.
-
I do not remember what I paid for them.
-
Certainly not THOSE prices!
-
No George?
-
Stuffing his face with a burrito?
-
On the town?
-
Galavanting?
-
Well, George did it again.
-
Unbelievable and amazing at the same time. And he's not even reading the book, which I don't think he's looked at in six days now.
-
But to leave us in the lurch again? I'm afraid he WILL be held accountable.
-
Can't even get off this damn page.
-
We could have, easily.
-
But nooooo...
-
Why should anything be easy?

And since DR George isn't here...

So, perhaps he'd like to get us off this damn page.
-
I bought several things on EBay when my daughter loved Ragtime the musical. She collected antique postcards of the real people who were in the book/musical. Evelyn Nesbit, Harry Houdini, etc.
That's a really cool idea, Laura.
-
Surely he'll get us off this damn page.
-
Good.
-
We're off this damn page.
-
Well, not THIS damn page.

And perhaps George will tell us when he'll get back to reading the book, or is he trying to outdo vixmom in delaying.
-
And my DH and I bought a few furniture pieces at auction. I bought a rocking chair, in which I rocked my babies. I still have it in the living room.
That's so sweet. :)

Will post more later
Looking forward to hearing more about it!
Ditto!

Still no Kritzer World review despite the many, many weeks that have passed and the several reminders. I'm gonna bet that if this were anyone else's book the review would have been written instantly. That's sure what it seems like and I sure don't get it.
-
But that's just me.
-
Regarding today’s topic: I bought several posters from BK in the past including an original Rags and the Ron Field revival of On the Town. I just received an email from Triton Gallery that the original Rags poster is selling for $225 and the On the Town poster is going for $195.
Wow!
-
What?
-
Did someone say something?
-
No George?
Yes George.
-
Stuffing his face with a burrito?
No, a Jack in the Box Smashed Burger.
-
Soon new notes will be posted.
-
Soon, I promise.
-
I shouldn't have gotten it, though...but it was an impulse purchase. ::)
-
And what about the BOOK, George? You ever getting back to it?
-
Unbelievable and amazing at the same time. And he's not even reading the book, which I don't think he's looked at in six days now.
I did read a couple of chapters a couple of days ago.
-
Slowly, but surely.
-
Smashed burgers.
-
I'm not reading Don Quixote while I'm reading Directed By.
-
People will tire of them in a year or two and all those places will go out of business.
-
I actually started Don Quixote last July...and I'm still reading it! :o
-
And the prodigal George shows up.
I will always show up!
-
Well, not THIS damn page.
Getting close!
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And perhaps George will tell us when he'll get back to reading the book, or is he trying to outdo vixmom in delaying.
I'm not deliberately not reading.
-
Nine is fine.
-
Nine is a valentine.
-
My funny valentine.

"Many, many weeks"?? BK, it was released only nine, count 'em, NINE days ago! :D
-
And I don't think I've written a review for anyone else's book...only yours.
-
Talking about Vixmom and Kritzer World, not YOU.
-
Gratuitous Post #250!!
-
Talking about Vixmom and Kritzer World, not YOU.
