What a festively festive day we shall have and I don’t want to hear any malarkey about people being too too busy to celebrate.
Well, at least part of my day will be spent at work, same as yesterday. So, instead of celebrating, I'll be helping others with their celebrations. I happen to like that.
Mind, there are customers who are obnoxious, but by and large most people are nice. And there are the special customers. For example, yesterday a mother and son came in; she was perhaps in her sixties, and had that tired expression that happens from having to be in command too much of the time, for her son, around forty, was quite frankly simple-minded. But he drew such pleasure from being able to read my name tag, and to greet me by name, that I couldn't help feeling joyful with him.
There's a reason I use the word "pleasant" when finishing with each customer, whether I'm wishing them a pleasant day or a pleasant evening. Simply wishing people a "nice" day doesn't cut it, for me. I'd rather wish them a "pleasant" day, something that they will enjoy.
