Very rare quakes - on the oldest continent. There are fault lines and tremors occur. The city of Newcastle had a quake some years ago (20?) where there was considerable damage and I think some loss of life. It is not a high rise city though. (Coastal New South Wales north of Sydney).

It's been a while since the earth moved for me.

I went to school with Hu Mectant. We were not close. He seemed to attract such wet friends.

Today we are going (at last) to see Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. A promise I made to OzDerek who was looking forward to it so much.

Finally someone did the word of the day.  I KNOW no one wants me to STOP doing the word of the day, so let's find usages, oh, yes, let's find usages.  What a rainy day we've had here.  Yes, we've had a rainy day AND a Monday - somebody call The Carpenters.

DR JOSE is like a flea on a griddle.

In certain ports of the Philippines, he'd be called a "butterfly."

There are some lovley songs about butterflies.  I'll now think of Jose when I play them.
Poor Butterfly
Butterfly - Andy Williams/Charlie Gracie
Butterfly Baby - Bobby Rydell
Butterfly - Daniel Gerard
Love is Like A Butterfly - Dolly Parton
the Butterfly (from "Zorba")

Ginny though I was a bit surprised about the girl at the movie I didn’t say anything.  I looked at her once and she smiled at me.  I had a feeling she really couldn’t hold still easily.

Today I listened to my free sampler DC of IN MY LIFE.  I enjoyed the sample songs and am sorry the show was a disappointment.

Tomovoz the chocolate cake looks delicious.

Ron congratulations on your first class tickets.  I hope you fly on a nice large plane.

I spent much of yesterday breaking in a new toy -- a Scunc steamer...and I tackled my bathroom first, then my kitchen.  I've a lot more work to do...and I've got to learn to do one thing at a time.

But the steamer is powerful and effective.  And my bathroom smelled ever-so-loverly this morning.

Is that the little handheld one?  I have been thinking of getting one.  Is it easy to use?  Does it have to be refilled and reheated constantly?

I got a handheld Steamfast steamer a couple of months ago. And it is the best new cleaning tool I've found in a while.

It lets you really clean without using chemicals.  And it is actually fun and easy.

Hoy, what a day at work!

At 9:30 am some workers cut a cable which took down our computers (including internet), cut off our phones, and in parts of our office, cut off the electricity. We weren't back to normal until 3:30pm.

Didn't get a lot done at work today! LOL!

In honor of DR vixmom & vixdad's anniversary, I have just booked the Comfort Inn-Midtown for DH Richard and myself, January 16-22, 2006, the week in which our 25th wedding anniversary falls.  Hope there will be some DR's around to help us celebrate!

You can always count on me!  Unless, of course, I'm out of town with a job.

I've just finished a yummilicious Artie's dinner from a mysterious benefactor.  It was a hale and hearty chicken dinner with some yummy mixed vegetables and a fantastic baked potato.  I'm going to scream poverty more often.

For the record, one of the checks did arrive today, looking from the envelope as if it had been misdirected.

Thank you, O beneficent one!

Yeah, I know, Jane, but when you choose to get married in January what can you expect?  Actually, one of the best times Richard and I ever had in NYC was when we went on Christmas Day and stayed until New Year's Day.  It was cold, but we had a great time, even standing in the TKTS line.  We saw 8 shows in 7 days on that trip!
