DR Jane - Thanks for the pictures!  Craig and Yogi seem to have survived their journey in great shape.

Well, you can tell where MY mind is today...I read decadent cross-section...

 :)

Well, after going through the rest of the NY Times' Dining & Wine section, "decadent" seems to be theme of the day: burgers, a review of the new Belgian spot, Resto - a deviled egg on top of a breaded, deep-fried pork jowl; the new Chocolate Bar at Henri Bendel; the rising demand and cost of beef; and...

POUTINE!

DR MattH, you didn't put spoiler space re: the VERONICA MARS finale.  In your second post you didn't even write the words VERONICA MARS.  Luckily i didn't see what you wrote.  Looking forward to seeing it.

Having actually watched this one (in lieu of anything interesting on other channels to watch) I have to say he did not reveal any spoiler information that I considered "spoilage."  No specifics revealed about the story or resolution of same.

For bk: Will there be any music/book changes to THE BRAIN when it lands in LA next June?

I know I am horribly out of the cultural zeitgeist, but I saw American Idol for the first time this season last night (just the last 5 minutes or so, as I waited for On the Lot to start).  Sorry, I just don't get Jordin--she sounded much better on the recap tunes than she did on the big power ballad finale, IMHO.  The other guy was pleasant enough--nothing special (again IMHO).  Sorry, AI fans.

On the Lot was really enjoyable.  Gabe is a budding filmmaker, so we're going to let him stay up to watch after school lets out.

Don't be sorry...except for the ones who put them in the final two.

Neither is remotely as good as Melinda Doolittle, who was ousted last week after having been declared best of the night and a sure thing for the final two.

I saw the last song....Blake's weaknesses were on full display.  I didn't think much of Jordin, either.

Oh, well.  It's all moot.

I'll watch "Lost" tonight.  I don't have any desire to see either of them "crowned"...and I'm certain Jordin will win.

My presentation is finished. Now I'm going to get a haircut and some lunch. I should have gotten a haircut before the presentation but the room was dark so no one noticed!

DR Ben - Glad to know that your presentation went well.  And I hope you have a good haircut too.  Since I was down in Chelsea yesterday, I went ahead and headed on over to Chelsea Barber for my usual haircut too.  I ended up getting a new barber, and he gave me a rather nice 'do.

I recorded the IDOL show last night but had no interest in watching it "live." I thought after reading recaps if there was something I had to watch, I'd have it. Well, after reading the recaps, I will erase the show without even watching.

Chris Daughtry's closing number was WELL worth seeing.

DR Ben - congratulations on your successful presentation.  Now you can relax while DR Cillaliz and I are "On."

Speaking of presentations, my boss (whose office is within earshot of my desk) is at this moment presenting in a Webinar.  He's in there showing his PowerPoint slides and talking at his computer.  He says it feels very Star Trek-y.

I also think it was a very interesting "comment" to have Chris Daughtry close the show.  Just goes to show that the "losers" can have careers too.  Successful careers.

I may surrender to the need for James Bond this afternoon.

I can't tell you how many times I have said that to myself...and yet Sean Connery never shows up at my door.

Here's another way to pass the time that a friend of mine just forwarded to me:

What Was the #1 Song On the Day You Were Born?
.
"Vaya con Dios" by Les Paul and Mary Ford

Der Brucer's is "A Tisket, a Tasket" by Ella Fitzgerald.

Everybody else's No. 1 song is better than mine!

At least, I think they are.  I know those songs, but I don't have a clue what my song sounds like.

So...

With the upcoming Band version of "Idol" coming up...

Do you think they'll make them cover a BeeGees song one week?  And then a Rolling Stones one the next?

???

Hmm.. I'm sure you've heard the "12th Street Rag" sometime, but just didn't know what it was called.  It goes like this:

Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Dah
Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Dah
Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Dah
Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Da-da-da-Dah

Thanks Jose.  We have talked about taking Sherlock & driving to Pittsburgh.  Now we aren’t sure if we have the time & Yogi takes a bit of time to warm up to new people and dogs.  I would still like to do it, so we shall see.

At the moment I just want to stay home for awhile.  Unfortunately I can’t.  Keith hasn’t seen his mother in a long time & she wants to meet Sherlock.  We just arranged for our  housesitters, found hotels that accept dogs and will be leaving Saturday morning.

Dear Esteemed BK:

Have you tried the new Diet Coke Plus yet?  It's a new formula, with vitamins and minerals added - Diet Coke goes healthy.  We've had it on sale at the store for a month or so now, and I was wondering if you had an opinion about it.

And if you want to hear what it sounds like, here's a link to a cool marimba version of the "12th Street Rag".

Cylinder Preservation and Digitization Project

You can click on a link in the middle of the page for a streaming audio version, or download it as an MP3 or WAV file.  The main hook of the tune comes after the intro.

*It's also just a really cool site too.
