So...

As bk mentioned in the Notes, if anyone can and would like to get together before he sees Baby, It's You, then that would take place between 5:00 and 7:30.

I was think that maybe City Bakery would be a good place to meet up. They have coffee, they have a hot and cold buffet, they have pastries and cookies, and they still have the hot chocolate. -This way, if someone wanted to eat something substantial, they could, or if someone just wanted a light snack, that would be very doable too.

Or there's always Madison Square Park and Shake Shack since it's supposed to be another nice day here in NYC.

Or there's Good Stuff Diner.

Or....

Again, if you're interested, just say so, and we'll see what happens.

Anyway, it's going to be hot and muggy again today and I think it might be time for air conditioning.

I was wondering the same thing. -Especially since it has now been officially declared one of the worst allergy seasons on record due to the "lingering" winter. -Everything bloomed late(r) and all at once.

Title: Re: SEVEN PEOPLE
Post by: elmore3003 on May 11, 2011, 06:42:00 AM
Good morning, all! I am testy and very crabby at the moment.

This has been a terrible couple of days. Last night I got an email from the producer of the Herbert songs "reminding" me of meetings this Saturday and Sunday with the conductor of the EILEEN recording, who's flying in from Dublin. We were never notified of the dates for this meeting until last night - this isn't a "reminder," it's an order - and I have spent a lot of time clearing my calendar for these meetings.

The director of the Appalachian piece keeps relying on period recordings and he's driving me a bit mad because he sends things on programs I cannot download or thewy arrive in the wrong form, and I'm quite irritated over his reliance on recordings, especially when it may be a similar riff on the subject but not necessarily on the same tune. So, I've got a file of mp3s from him I cannot download at the moment and these two men are making my life very awkward at the moment.

You're throat can "burn" due to all of the post-nasal drip. Also, just from the irritation from all the pollen in the air.

The two kicks to my schedule since yesterday are only putting more pressure on my getting things finished for the Appalachian workshop the last week of May. I can meet late afternoon, because I can plan my intinerary around gettng there, but I can't meet after show. I've got too many writing deadlines. I'm sorry.

I have to do laundry now because I've got a moment to accomplish it. I think I'll be sitting at a piano most of tomorrow.

Or it cold be both.

And/or... Some allergy meds can cause acid reflux, so... And there's been any coughing associated with the allergies, well, that can cause reflux too.

-Personally, I've been "happy" with just the sinus headaches so far this allergy season. Yes, they're slightly annoying, but at least I don't have to keep wads of Kleenex in my pockets.

I don't understand this.

Today, I uploaded the trailer for my Clara Bow play to several websites...and one of them (Metacafe) marked it "For Over 18 only".

Good Evening!

Well... It was - and still is - a gorgeous day in NYC. I walked around a bit, ran some errands, snagged some free tins of Lavazza coffee and managed to stop by the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck. -And I just found out that one of my favorite restaurants is having an anniversary party tonight for their regulars - free food and wine, so... -The celebration starts late, so I may not go, but it's nice to be invited.

Talking about Jackie Mason and Barry Pearl.....
They both appeared in an infamous Broadway play: A Teaspoon Every Four Hours

From Wikapedia
A Teaspoon Every Four Hours is a comedy play written by Jackie Mason and Mike Mortman which was produced on Broadway in 1969.[1] The play set a Broadway record by having 97 previews before its official opening. After its official opening, A Teaspoon Every Four Hours closed after only one performance.

Nat Weiss (played by Mason himself in the Broadway production) is a Jewish widower who learns that his son (Barry Pearl) is in love with a black woman. Eventually Nat himself falls in love with the woman's mother. The play's title is not explained in the play itself.

Mason was interviewed in 2011 about the prospects of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark breaking his play's record for most previews. "The longest preview period, I don't see as an honor," he said. "Running a show after it opens, I see as an honor." Mason said that when the record is broken, "I won't cry a tear, because there's nothing to be excited about."

He "claims" to be a friend of Robin Esterhammer, but he's been leading the "off with his head" charge ever since Lukas posted that "Slipstream" wasn't properly cleared.  He "reminds" me of Robert John Guttke at times, but I think he must live in the L.A. area.

I read that Fox cancelled Human Target. I really liked that show.

I also read that NBC renewed Chuck.

Re: Human Target. My biggest peeve is that they cancel shows after the season has ended. I always find it so unfair especially for long running shows. If they want to cancel a show fine. But at least let the writers have the chance to write a proper ending.

Typical episodic series have their scripts in the can months in advance, Jennifer.  There's no way a network is going to cancel a series that far in advance, at least in the normal course of events.  Some shows do know in advance, like 'Lost' and, now, 'Mad Men,' but that's pretty unusual.
