Good evening, fellow Dear Readers. I took a nap after church. Now as soon as DH gets home, we'll go out and use a gift card for a festive holiday dinner.

King of Kings is, of course, enhanced for widescreen TVs, and is a fantastic DVD in every respect.

The site is dreadfully slow from my computer and various browsers.  Anyone else having that problem?

Memo to Jane:

RE: TV News covaerage

While we get deluged with Terri Schiavo, what with special sessions of congress, multiple court cases, protesters holding vigils, out raged phone calls to talk radio - and all about a unique case, one single person.

Meanwhile, burried on page 462 of the press reports we find:

Quote
Every state, and the federal government, has a Web site with a list of sex offenders. According to the latest Bureau of Justice  statistics, (he) is one of more than 386,000 registered sex offenders in the United States.

But those are just the ones who have been caught.

At least once a month we get headlines about some known sex offender comitting some heinous crime, yet we have no protests, no special sessions of congress, and few outraged phone calls to talk shows - where is the WE'RE MAD AS HELL AND WE AREN'T GOING TO TASKE IT ANY MORE outrage?

der Brucer (who still has concerns when his own daughter who sees no problem with her 8 year-old going off to the men's room in a movie theatre by him self because "this is a nice town and those things don't happen here)

DerBrucer I read today of the alleged bulimia.

I have seen the outraged public over sex offenders, after a neighbor does something to a kid.

I know how you feel about the grandlad in the bathroom alone.  I hated when I had to let my kids go.  At eight you can’t take them with you and you certainly can’t go into the men’s room.  I remember the year one of the father’s was a class “mother”.  I was so relieved he could go with the boys on the field trips, especially when we were in Philadelphia.

BK, I think I mentioned the other day, that it is very slow when I first come to message board.  Once I'm on, it doesn't seem too slow going from page-to-page.

Back from our friend's partay-brunch in Burbank.  Lovely time! About a dozen bright, entertaining folk.  Most having some connection to show biz...But the conversation veered to a multiplicity of subjects and was sparkling and oh so witty.  We all laughed and laughed until we thought we could laugh no more...and then proceeded to laugh even more.

All right already, errant and truant Easter people.  Time to get your ample butt cheeks back here and do some postin' and puttin' up of photographs.  Otherwise I shall have to be a VERY bad boy, oh, yes, I shall have to be a VERY bad boy.

The Greatest Story Ever Told is one L O N G movie!

I warned you, DRJANE, yes I did - look if you dare!  I was going to call it "not your mother's pajama party" - until I realized, it just might BE!

Well, my ample butt cheeks are here...and after this weekend of lounging around in front of the TV, the butt cheeks are getting more and more ample, I am afraid.

I must get some exercise!! I will do it this week!  >:(

That said, I just finished watching BRIGADOON. Nice movie, but it won't be one of my favorites. Van Johnson sort of bugged me....and sometimes the movie just didn't make sense.

THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD is the one movie that I fell asleep TWICE during the same screening. No more boring movie has ever been made. My aunt and uncle took us to this in Philadelphia during one of our summer visits on the way to NYC. I wanted to see THE SOUND OF MUSIC, but they insisted on this turgid picture. I would never willingly sit through it again.

Well, the overtime basketball game pushed CBS' entire Sunday prime time schedule back exactly an hour, so I wasn't able to see COLD CASE tonight. This show gets thrown out of its time period more than any other top show due to football overruns and now the basketball championships.

I am thinking that I may not go to Los Angeles in April, as I was planning....the line-up for the Ray Courts Show just isn't very exciting (with the exception, of course, of our own BK). I would like to see Diane McBain, but I have met her before, and 1940s actress Beatrice Gray would be interesting, but that is about it. We shall see...I have to make room reservations before the 1st of April if I want the special rate (which I would want, of course).

I am actually leaning more and more towards New York...I have never been, and I bet it would be fun.

Of course I could just stay home and save my money for the family vacation to Hawaii, which is to occur in 2006...and I would hate to be the only one not going  :(

I wish I were rich and could go anywhere I wanted, anytime I wanted!

I figured KING OF KINGS was enhanced, bk, but thanks for validating that fact. Warners has done great jobs transferring DVDs with most of MGM's widescreen output. I have few complaints with their efforts in this regard.

The site hasn't been slow for me at all today during any of the times I've logged on to post. In fact, my AOL dial-up internet connections have been operating flawlessly for at least two months. Of course, it'll probably go out tonight, but up to now, it has been very reliable for me.

I don't know, MattH, THE GREATES STORY EVER TOLD is pretty slow moving, but nothing is quite as bad as CHARIOTS OF FIRE.  Good Lord, I think I celebrated three birthdays just during the showing of that movie!

Very fast connecting through Safari, so maybe it's an AOL deal, although Safari was also slow, earlier in the evening.

The star of L'Appartement, that French movie from 1996 that I like so much, is one of the new stars of Ocean't Twelve.

It's amazing how many people like Chariots of Fire.  It came out recently as a SE DVD and I didn't even glance at it.

Thank you, BK, some people look at me like I have committed a sin when I tell them I didn't like that movie.
