Well, you've read the notes, the notes had good reverb and were well recorded, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently listening to the new cast album of West Side Story and thinking "That doesn't sound very MOOsical."
-
And the word of the day is: TUTELARY!
-
bk, in one of the Tony "pre-shows" that aired in the NY area, they did a small segment on the recording of the new West Side Story. They were interviewing one of the producers of this new album, and he went to great pains to say that kids nowadays with their iPods expect the sound to be "in your face," with no "space" around it. So that was his goal.
I guess he succeeded.
Dumb. :-\

A Very Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there...and fathers-by-proxy!!

Well, last night's tech cue-to-cue took four hours. :-\ We got through it, but it was long.
-
Today is the Capital City Pride (http://www.capitalcitypride.net/joomla/)! TAO and "Romeo & Juliet" will have a booth (we have t-shirts!!) and will hand out posters and flyers, trying to drum up business for the show. With two men playing both Romeo and Juliet, the Capital City Pride event is the perfect place to advertise! We all (the cast and crew) need to be there by 12:30...which is right in the middle of the parade! :o So, I'd better plan on leaving for downtown by 11:30 just to find parking!
-
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! "Eli Stone" didn't record! >:( I checked my DVR before I left my house this morning and it was set! AND the series recording is still set to record the other episodes. I know I can watch it on-line, but I was going to record the last three episodes for a couple of friends, for whom I also recorded "Pushing Daisies."
Did anyone record last night's "Eli Stone?" :-\

Good morning, all! I have to be at Toyland by 10 so I will be out of here very shortly. This could be a long day; we'll see.
Another night of strange dreams; I only remember a bit about talking to a recording star about doing a Christmas arrangement for her and a peculiar dream involving apartment troubles with a broken door or window - I cannot recall now - for me and a roommate. I have honestly no idea who this roommate may have been.
I miss my dad. Happy Father's Day to him.

DR George i'm sorry Eli stone didn't record. I wish i had a way to burn you a copy. But i'm sure somebody will
have recorded it.
-
Interesting review of the new WSS cd in the notes. I'm curious if non-expert ears were find it crappy too?
-
Yes, I have read the notes and they were indeed very informative and very honest and very, very true.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ONE AND ALL.
I was missing my Dad last night at work, when told that our restaurant's owner was attending a private party at Big Ben's - the Steeler, not the edifice - whom I had met just shortly after Dad's death. Two days I later, I met former Steeler Franco Harris. I knew that Dad was somewhere watching those meetings (if not arranging them) and smiling.
-
Thanks to DR DAW, DR ARNOLDBROCKMAN, and DR GEORGE....it is lovely up here.
-
How can you HEAR a cast album on an IPOD?
-
I love cast albums......especially the ones that made me feel like I knew what the show was about, and I could imagine what was happening onstage....
GYPSY, BYE BYE BIRDIE, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, WEST SIDE STORY - such fun...and STILL such fun. I ordered the CAST ALBUM of BBB just last week. I don't have it on CD, and with the revival looming, I wanted to hear the original a few more times before it was "improved" with new people.....like John Stamos and Gina Gershon, and John Irwin, who's charm escapes me, sorry DR EDISAURUS.... The clips I saw of Irwin and Kathleen Turner from WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF seemed to be two second raters tossing one liners back and forth....Albee is NOT Neil Simon....I don't think.
I think I shall skip purchasing the new WSS cd.
-
The play DR JOSE saw last night sounds most intriguing.
-
Never mind....I just realized who Andre de Shields is.....maybe he and Bill Irwin should do a show together.
-
Happy Father's Day!
I am working.....oh well.
DR JOSE I watched HSM on teevee and did not watch the credits.....silly me, I assumed Efron was doing his own singing.
-
Congrats on 37000, Jrand

Damn! I wish I could help you, DR George, but I forgot to record it myself. Ah, well, I'll have to wait for the inevitable DVD set to see it. Now that I missed that episode, I likely won't watch the other two either and will just wait for the DVDs.

After I saw the national touring companies of both THE SOUND OF MUSIC and CAMELOT, I rushed out to get those cast albums, and even though the stars were totally different, I felt as if I were on the front row of the theater watching the whole show again.
Those albums CAPTURED the feel of the show better than any cast albums I can remember. Add MAME to the mix, and you have what I consider the three best recorded cast albums ever.
-
Thank you, DR GEORGE...and have fun today promoting R&J.
-
I can put on the CAMELOT cast album on CD now, let Dolby Prologic IIx decode the stereo tracks and send it through all seven speakers in my home theater, and I am completely surrounded in the most glorious sound imaginable. It's my favorite CD to listen to in surround.

He didn't do it (except for a couple of small places) in the original HSM. He does all his own singing in the two sequels and, of course, in HAIRSPRAY.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY for all those involved.
Yes, it would be nice to see my dad again. He's been gone nine years now.
-
I did watch the Sing and Dance Along version of HSM, so now I can do the Get Cha Head in Game routine.
-
My work project today is MY DINNER WITH ANDRE, the last of the Criterion June releases. I have seen the film before, just not recently, so this will be an enjoyable revisit.
-
Happy Father's Day to all you DADDIES out there!
-
On TV TOnight!™
NBC - DATELINE, MERLIN (two hour season premiere)
PBS - CAT AMONG THE PIGEONS (a new Poirot mystery)
TNT - NASCAR Race
USA - LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT, IN PLAIN SIGHT
HBO - TRUE BLOOD
-
I shall now head to work at Ye Olde World of Wisdom. Back in a few hours.
-
I did watch the Sing and Dance Along version of HSM, so now I can do the Get Cha Head in Game routine.
Seems like all three Blu-rays of the movies feature at least one "dance along at home" teaching session.
The Blu-rays also have the widescreen versions of the films. The DVDs of I and II are only 1.33:1 and for me are much less involving.
-
I have some computer maintenance chores to tend to, and then I'll head downstairs to get laundry ready for washing and then start thinking about what's for lunch.

Yesterday was quite a long day!
Yesterday I headed up to Tigard to see grand-neice Taylor's dance recital. The recital was 3 and 1/2 hours loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong.
Some of it was cute (the little 4. 5, 6, and 7 years olds)...most of it was clumsy (most of the teen and pre teen dances)...a very few of the dances were good.
Then the dance teachers ( a group of out of shape, middle aged women) put on a dance routine...it scared me.
Note: I have attended each of Taylor's previous yearly recitals. Sometime last year the dance company was sold to new owners. The previous owner was a professional dancer and she was very good (she kept the show to about 2 hours)...and in turn the kids were (mostly) very good. Now, not so much.
-
Darling card.
-
3 1/2 hours-way toooooo long. It is a shame the studio was sold.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all who celebrate it.
I wish I had fond memories, but I don't.

"Searchers have a question they'd like answered: Who started Father's Day? Who do they have to thank for the mandatory bonding time they're spending with dear ol' dad this weekend? Lookups on "father's day origin" and "who started father's day" inspired us to investigate. The results of our research shook us to our very core.
OK, maybe not to our core, exactly. But the story of how Father's Day came to be is still pretty interesting. A blog from a Detroit church explains that most historians credit a woman named Sonora Smart Dodd with creating the holiday. Ms. Smart Dodd was "inspired by her father, a widower and Civil War veteran named William Jackson Smart." She wanted to do something to honor his memory while paying respect to all fathers.
Clearly she was a woman with a plan. Alas, not everybody agreed with her pleas to "give it up for the papas" (our words, not hers). In fact, Ms. Smart Dodd's proposal was often mocked when it first made the rounds. Folks felt it unnecessary. And the all-male United States Congress felt that having a holiday for fathers might look like they were trying to give themselves "a pat on the back."
Additionally, many just plain didn't want the holiday. An article from Inspiration Line explains that, according to an article in The Spokesman-Review, "one group of men conventioneers laughed and said they didn't want a Father's Day. A National Fishing Day would be better, they told her."
Though many scoffed, the holiday was eventually accepted. In 1910, the first local Father’s Day was held. It wasn’t until 1924 that President Calvin Coolidge "made it a national event." Then, in 1966, President Johnson signed a proclamation declaring the third Sunday of June as Father's Day. President Nixon made it law in 1972.
It's hard to imagine a time when the idea of Father's Day was mocked and dismissed as ridiculous. If it weren't for the tenacity of a grateful daughter, it may never have come to pass."

Good Morning! Good Afternoon!
I'm up, I'm up... And it's a strangely cool first day of summer here in NYC. When I woke up a few hours ago, it was 62 degrees and gray, and it's only supposed to get up to 70 - and still gray. And drizzly. And rainy. Ah, well...
-
Well, last night's tech cue-to-cue took four hours. :-\ We got through it, but it was long.
Well, DR George, if you were working with an Equity company, your cue-to-cue would have taken the full ten hours of the "10 out of 12", so... Consider yourself lucky.
;)
-
The rain woke me up this morning. The sun has begun to shine however it should only reach 61 degrees today. I think we are staying home.
-
As for the original(!) cast recording of West Side Story...
(And I think I may have told this story before, but...)
I still remember listening to the OCR - the record/LP/vinyl - of West Side Story over at a friend's house in high school. Both of his parents made pretty good money, and they had very nice house, and a very nice HiFi set-up. He put on West Side Story, and I still remember being able to hear - and see! - the Jets running upstage and downstage, left and right during "The Jet Song"... The Sharks on their side of the gym, the Jets on theirs during "Mambo"... And Maria singing up on her balcony, and Tony starting off in the street and the climbing up to join her... And the "Quintet" was practically dizzying!
I thought they had recorded the show in the theatre - complete with blocking. Of course, that was not the case. It really was Magic.
-

I'm also thinking of staying put today too. It's not raining right now, but it's still gray and overcast right now. At least if I stay inside, I can't really see the gray.

I thought the same thing DR ArnoldMBrockman. But since the Academy doesn't allow actor's to compete against themselves.. Or is that the Golden Globes... In any case...
I did think her performance in "Revolutionary Road" was better than her performance in "The Reader". -And, even though I liked "The Reader", I thought the first half - even with the vomiting - was a bit too purposely slow-paced for my tastes. And I still am "upset" that the previews showed parts of the scenes with Lena Olin.
*Of course, the real omission was Leonardo di Caprio not getting an Oscar nom for "Revolutionary Road".

Back from an extra-long jog - about five miles. I don't know why, really, but I decided at the two mile juncture to switch up my route, and I ran all the way down to Ventura Blvd, which is about 3/4 of a mile and then home from there.
-
I feel I deserve something fun to eat and shall now figure out what that might be. I've been watching Zorro episodes - I got a five-volume set, which I guess is a Disney Club exclusive, but nowhere on the box does it say these episodes are colorized - they're horrible-looking, but I really like the show and Guy Williams is the best Zorro ever.
-
Father's Day greetings! We are back from Lima, where DH Richard preached a very good sermon and I hosted the coffee hour, serving my homemade cinnamon coffee cake, grapes, and Bing cherries.
-
I still think Tyrone Power was the best Zorro ever. . .but, that's what makes horse racing.

No, it's the Oscars that don't allow for an actor to occupy more than one slot in a category. That's why the Weinstein company had "suggested" that WInslet be considered supporting for THE READER and leading for REVOLUTIONARY ROAD. The Golden Globes took the bait and nominated her that way and she won in both categories. The Academy voters saw it differently and nominated her work in THE READER as a leading role, and since she garnered more votes for it than for REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, that's the one she got nominated for.
I think it's funny that directors can earn multiple nominations in their category in a single year but not actors.
-
And the SAG voters nominated her for THE READER in supporting and didn't nominate her for REVOLUTIONARY ROAD (which is how Meryl Streep won the SAG this year for Best Actress).
-
Anyway, I watched another LOST episode from Season 3 on Blu-ray (episode #2) while I cooked and ate lunch. The transfer is simply amazing, and I had forgotten much of the Sun and Jin backstory in this episode completely.
-
I wanted to start my work project at 1 p.m., so I had time to watch the first half of THE FASHION SHOW. They're in teams of two this week, so naturally there's dissention and pettiness. The garments were just starting to come together before I had to shut it off.
Becki Newton from UGLY BETTY is this week's guest judge.
-
Then, I watched MY DINNER WITH ANDRE. Such a scintillating conversation and at 111 not the least bit dull even though it's just two men sitting in a restaurant talking. No one would take this kind of chance with a movie like this today. It must have been made for peanuts (shot on 16mm film), and I saw that it grossed $15 million. Pretty impressive for an "art" film.
-
Then I watched the bonus features. First was a one hour interview with the two persons in the movie. I had NO idea that this wasn't shot in a NYC restaurant! All these years, and I had no idea. I knew it was scripted; this wasn't extemporaneous talking in real-time, but what a surprise about the location shooting. And the waiter was an actor, too.
-
The second bonus feature was a one hour BBC interview with Wallace Shawn interviewing Louis Malle talking about his film career up to 1982. Filled with film clips, it was quite interesting to hear Malle talk about his work. And the clips really make you want to revisit some of those movies.
-
Revolutionary Road is my book group's August selection. That's the month when we read the book, have a potluck dinner, and watch the movie together.
-
So I'll have time tonight to watch some things for fun. I'll likely watch WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER on the DVR so I can clear it off (never seen it all the way through). If I have time, I'll watch another episode of THE CLOSER so I can get that box set finished and placed on the shelf. And I'd like to finish THE FASHION SHOW.
Then, I can watch TRUE BLOOD tonight around 10 or so off the DVR.
-
I was expecting to get REVOLUTIONARY ROAD to review (and also BENJAMIN BUTTON and DEFIANCE), but then I got switched from Paramount to Fox and it went to someone else.
-
OK, my afternoon surf is completed. I need to jump off-line now and get today's work project written up.

That's Bill Irwin, who is such a sweet man. I did TONIGHT AT 8:30 with him at williamstown. However gracefully and rhythmically he moves, I didn't find him either a singer with a sense of good pitch or good rhythm. I wish him well at Roundabout, but I do find them the Bermuda Triangle of good musicals. So many re lost now, thanks to Roundabout morons.

I remember when I first discovered the recording room at the public library around 1960. I would drag home cast recordings I'd never heard- which were many - and drive my family mad. WEST SIDE STORY was so exciting. Everyone, including my cousins and my aunts, had to hear it.

No one would take this kind of chance with a movie like this today. It must have been made for peanuts (shot on 16mm film), and I saw that it grossed $15 million. Pretty impressive for an "art" film.
I used to see Wallace Shawn regularly at the Drama Book Shop. He was such a nice man to visit with!
-
As for the original(!) cast recording of West Side Story...
I remember when I first discovered the recording room at the public library around 1960. I would drag home cast recordings I'd never heard- which were many - and drive my family mad. WEST SIDE STORY was so exciting. Everyone, including my cousins and my aunts, had to hear it.
So, your house was the first one with electricity?

The skies overhead are looking very strange. I am keeping watch for thunder and lightening.

We have watched My Dinner multiple times. Keith is a big fan of Wallace Shawn I'll pass along your comment DR elmore.

Almost, but no cigar. My grandmother's home in Appalachian Kentucky didn't have electricity until around 1954 and no running water or indoor plumbing until I was in college and my dad installed it for her.

My grandmother never failed to let my dad know that he and his family came second to his older brother Dewey and his children in her affections. I would have let her crawl to the outhouse myself before I busted my butt to install a water line after her treatment. My dad was a good man. I'm not.

I just came across this wonderful appreciation of "Pretty Boy" - who was otherwise known as "The Mayor of Seventh Street". He was a Cat. And he will be missed.

DR JoseSPiano - so, has one of the two new roommates started moving in yet?
Yes. Soan and his family came in yesterday to take some measurements, and they dropped of a few things earlier this morning. Apparently, an IKEA truck will be coming by tomorrow to drop off some more stuff.
DR Jose, did you mention and I missed it? Did your landlady pay the visit yesterday?
DR elmore - I think I may have mentioned it, and/or I think you may have missed it. In any case, she did come by yesterday morning. And, as a result, we're getting a fresh coat of paint, as well as some other minor "repairs" being taken care of over the next few weeks. It also turned out that the reason she had been incommunicado over the past few weeks - and in Alaska last week - was that she had a death in the family. But it was nice to finally catch up with her face-to-face, and it looks like we were able to work some other lease issues out too.

Thanks for the clarification, DR MattH. I guess part of my confusion was caused by the fact that I knew that a director could be nominated twice - or more - in their category.

Just out of curiosity, I was checking out the Broadway cast recording of Chess on Amazon. It is no longer in print. I already own two copies, but you can obtain new copies there for a mere $160.00. :P

I believe "My Dinner With Andre" is the first movie review I saw - or at least the first one I remember seeing - on Siskel & Ebert's "At the Movies".
*And that's yet more piece of randomness plucked from the recesses of my mind.

Revolutionary Road is my book group's August selection. That's the month when we read the book, have a potluck dinner, and watch the movie together.
And will you be serving cocktails and Prozac afterwards?

I am filing my weekly unemployment claim online. Everyone logs in at the same time, so it takes about 45 minutes to go through the three screens.

Wow!! It looks like I timed my walk with Zach perfectly between the rain deluge.
I'm glad I headed out earlier when a nice patch of blue appeared in the skies. It was nice to get outside for a bit and walk in the sunshine... And then make it back here in time before the last nap-inducing downpour started. ;)

DR ELMORE - RE: Bill Irwin & Andre deShields - I of course am speaking of their performances and stage/tv/film personas.....I don't know them personally. However, since you find them both charming, it is my thought that I would be of the same mind.
-
DR Ginny - Does DH Richard keep some sort of archive of his sermons? Does the church archive sermons either in print, audio or video?
-
DR FJL that was a nice song link. Thanks, Skip!
DR MBARNUM.....I am so sorry for your wasted time....but now you know that those recital years with that teacher were the exception, NOT the rule.

Yes, DR Jane, he writes all his sermons on the computer, so they're archived digitally. No audio or video - we're Anglican.

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
I was seriously considering heading back out for another short walk since the rain had stopped again. Of course, as soon I put on my shoes, the latest downpour started. UGH!
I'm really thinking of heading to Home Depot tomorrow and buying some full-spectrum light bulbs. Ich habe genug!

We spoke to Craig today & he complained about the days of rain. I then spoke to a friend who complained about the rain. She said she broke her foot & the rain makes it very difficult for her to go anywhere fun.

Yes, thanks, DR Jose. I wonder if Mr. Bradbury would like to come to Ohio to fight for our libraries. The governor has proposed balancing the state budget by slashing library funding.
-
DR Ginny, you meant Jose not me.
Well, you can tell that I was tired earlier! I've had a little nap and now am quite refreshed.

Would you have to put in a request via the Game Warden?

I drove to my parents' house today and spent the day fixing a printer for my dad (He was trying to put the ink cartridge in the wrong place) Set up the printer he got to replce the "broken" printer, got them a new ottoman he can use when he has his knee surgery later this week. Set up another cordless phone for them,. Backed up his old laptop and did various other odds and ends for them.
On the drive back there was a tornado warning not that far from where I was. I hit the driving rain and just kept going until I got out of the storm cell. It was rainy both going there and coming home, but I'm really glad I went

G'night!

I highly recommend the Hot & Sour Soup from Golden Empire Takeout - which is just a block away from me. It was soooooo good tonight. Tastes like I got a fresh batch. Not too thick, not too thin. Lots of tofu, veggies, bits of pork, and the right amount of hot and sour. Very much the $1.50 splurge. ;)
-
DRs elmore3003 and JoseSPiano....
I saw that!!!! ;D
-
I'm feeling well enough that I will go back to work tomorrow. Having Friday, Saturday and today to relax and recoup made a difference. I did go out briefly both yesterday and today to the Post Office and the grocery store. I did not encounter a rainstorm. They happened once I was safely back inside the apartment.
Yesterday we had tuna cassarole and a salad for dinner and tonight we had meat loaf with mashed potatoes and sauteed zucchini.
Tomorrow morning I will have my oatmeal with raisins and blueberries (they are back at the Union Square Greenmarket) and a cup of coffee and then I will return to the workforce.
Details at 7am

I wanna go to dinner at Ina's house....

It always gets better after the first few episodes, but I like to watch from the beginning to get all the personalities etc....
Tonight is also the final on HGTV $250,000 challenge.

When we weren't sleeping we were watching The Forsyte Saga. I have never seen it and I'm quite happy with it. We have watched 9 episodes of 26. I'm looking forward to more.
Anthony is watching PBS Mystery. A new Hercule Poiroit.
-
I wanna go to dinner at Ina's house....
Me too....but I'd like Ina to cook :D

It's getting late (for me). Good night for now.

...
Anthony is watching PBS Mystery. A new Hercule Poiroit.
We are, too, and have discovered that Harriet Walter is playing the headmistress. She's one of our favorites for having played Harriet Vane in the old Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries. Now, I see that she's on Broadway in Mary Stuart. Has anyone seen it? I think we'll add it to our list of possibilities for next week.
-
I know I'm a bad gay man but I would rather eat ground glass than sit through even the opening credits of Bruno. Borat made my ears bleed. I find the appeal of Sacha Baron Cohen incomprehensible. I know what he's trying to do but I don't enjoy cringe comedy like that. I find it hateful and useless in the long run.

Yes, Anthony called me into the room when the credits were running. She and Janet McTeer are marvelous in the show. It's a tour de force for both of them. I recommend the show. You should be able to get tickets at half price.

Harriet Walter is playing the headmistress.
DR elmore3003 was once a Head Mistress.
-
Clearly, 5 days in NYC will NOT be enough!

Spoo! I forgot that "True Blood" is also on at 9:00 - not 10:00. Well, guess I'll watching it at 11:00.
-
DR DAW - I saw that! ::)

Uh-OH! I'm watching the "preview" of "The Best Thing I Ever Ate"... And taking notes. :)

DR elmore3003 was once a Head Mistress.
I was a Head Master, missy!, not cheap Christmas trash like some Oberlin baritones I could mention but won't since I'm an artiste.
DR JRand58, I just got more PRINCESS AND THE GOBLIN info tonight!

I agree. Well, not that you are a bad gay man, but that that kind of comedy is hateful and not funny.

DR Cilla I'm glad you are safely home. I'm sure your parents had a wonderful Father's Day. Vibes for the knee surgery.
-
Thanks DR Jane. I do know they appreciate it. My dad tried to practice his crutches...lol he can't do it. So, it will be interesting to see how he gets along. I'm hoping he heals quickly
-
Walkers are much safer than crutches.
-
Walkers are much safer than crutches.
I'll tell him that, but I can't possibly imagine him using a walker. He thinks a cane makes him look too old, so he's going for the crutches. I don't think he'll last long with crutches
-
Our pastor's wife was trying to use crutches after her "accident," and fell and broke her wrist.
-
I'll tell him that. They told him to take his crutches to the hospital. I'm hoping they will give his lessons before he leaves

And all a person wanting a copy would have to do is contact me, and I'd burn them one for free. When CDs go out of print, I find nothing wrong with burning copies rather than someone paying such outlandish amounts.

Yes, they do. They recently had a slew of them in their 2 @ $25.00 Blu-Ray bin - I chose IRONMAN and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH (3-D).
I was going to answer also in the affirmitive. So now he knows FOR SURE! ;)
-
I had a good evening of viewing. I finished watching THE FASHION SHOW, and for a change I agreed with the decision of who was to go home.
-
Next, I watched another episode of THE CLOSER. This was the one with the serial rapist who turned out not to be the person the police first arrested only to find the real prep getting away with it. I remember when I watched the episode the first time, I guessed early who the guilty person was and I was SO frustrated that he led the squad around so cluelessly all the while covering his tracks.
-
Next I watched THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER. One reason I probably had never seen it all the way through was that it's so LONG! Some good moments, and Alan Marshal is a ravishing actor to look at, but Roddy McDowall growing into Peter Lawford wasn't too believable and Elizabeth Taylor growing into June Lockhart was even more ridiculous.
The story was pretty predictable, too, but the cast really was made up of the cream of MGM's character actor stable: May Whitty, Gladys Cooper, C. Aubrey Smith, Frank Morgan, Van Johnson.
-
And I ended my Sunday with another wonderful episode of TRUE BLOOD. Very involving and with some usual surprises. And, of course, Jason goes shirtless yet again to luscious effect.
-
Thanks DRs td, ARNOLDMBROCKMAN, and MATTH - I think I will travel over to Blockbuster on Tuesday and see what Blu Ray discs are available. I think one of the managers told me once that they put out the "new" PVP discs on Monday.
-
Well I can take the Datalounge off my Bookmarks....it is now BUSY 24 hours a day, and I will NOT pay to read it or post. They've lost some Wits and Wisdoms from me.....someone else can take up the slack.
-
Hmmmmmmmm the website says that Blockbuster is open at 10 a.m. - but last time I tried to go in the morning, the sign on the door said Mon-Thurs open at 12 Noon.....

Hmmmmmmmm the website says that Blockbuster is open at 10 a.m. - but last time I tried to go in the morning, the sign on the door said Mon-Thurs open at 12 Noon.....
Does Blockbuster let you buy PV discs even if you're not a member and don't have a card?
-
I'm going to head downstairs and go to bed.
Good night!

Back from a jaunt to Coney island, USA (well, a block away from Coney island) for a Father's day dinner with Mom, Dad, Brother and Sister-in-law. My brother and sister-in-law brought Mom and dad a beautiful new TV set. i brought Mom and Dad their 2008 tax returns.

They've sold to me. . .even PV dvds. . .and I don't have a card. (Blockbuster is only convenient when I have to take Mum for DR's appointments at the UPMC next to that particular plaza).

I hate his brand of "comedy" and certainly don't need to patronize it.

this is the next post I warned you about
the PEG (as it's called) is a flexible tube about as thick as your standard pencil - and about 18 inches long - I went in to the GI to see about having it removed since I have been feeling better and had gone a couple of weeks without using it.
I had a 6:40 appointment but the receptionist called me at 6 to ask if I could come in sooner as I was the last appointment of the day - I explained I was leaving from work right then but with traffic and the distance I would probably not arrive until just about the appointment time then she mentioned that I would be having the PEG removed that evening. This suprised me as I had called asking what was involved in getting the PEG removed and was told I would have to come in to the office and be seen by the doctor first.
Considering the circumstances I called Vixdad to see if he would be home in time to accompany me and discovered he would. I decied to stop home and meet with him before headingout tot he doctor as I was not sure of my ability to drive after having the PEG removed
I called the doctors' office and informed the woman who had previously asked me to hurry in that I may be 5 or 10 minutes late since I npow need ed transportation home and she told me to do my best to get there on time as she didn;t want me to be dissapointed by arriving at a locked and closed offcie as I was indeed the last appontment
I met Vixdad at home and we jumped into his car and broke several speed limits to be sure we arrived on time ... which we did to find ther was nowhere to sit in the waiting room as it was overflowing with people waiting to be seen
We waited over two hours to see the doctor -
and now the gross part --- the way he removed the tube was simply by telling me to lie down on the table and then yanking it out - I yelled - it HURT!!!
There was no warning- no anesthesia - not even any antiseptic before or after - "the procedure"
then he didn't put any stictches in the resultant hole -- so now I have a hole in my abdomen - and there is a little bit of pink colored tissue slightly protruding from it .
The GI insisted that this was a perfectly normal procedure and that I would heal up just fine - but the whole thing strikes me as somewhat "third world" type medicine ...

On the bright side of news the Vixter has taken all her finals and regents exams and is finally done with the school year
-
and she has been asked to the senior prom by a nice young man who is a good friend of hers and whose mother has been my friend since we were 15
It is this coming Friday and she is very excited. We are recycling the bridesmaid dress she wore last August to use as the prom gown, and she is going to get her hair done in a reasonable replica of the style the Canadaian beautician created . She scoffed at me last summer whenI was taking pciters of teh back of her head, but now she is happy because she was able to bring them in to the local beautician and shoe her exactly what she wanted

Yikes, Vixmom. Well, I'm glad that whole episode is over now. It's all just a memory.
-
"That whole episode" being the medical stuff. Not Vixter's upcoming prom date.
-
I grew up listening to West Side Story - when I was about 4 my dad built his own stereo system from a kit and his favorite LP to play was WSS - I knew all the songs by heart before I started kindergarten
It remains my favorite
-
DR vixmom - Good to see your smiling avatar gracing these pages again!
-Do you need someone to call your office with an "emergency" that would require you to leave early?
-
DR vixmom and the vixter - Just remember "prom = photo-op"!
*Although, I'm pretty sure you already knew that.

;D
Well actually I do have some mixed feelings about the prom date - I am very happy she was invited - I am a little nervous about the actual being out there at night with a bunch of seniors part - especially as the boy lives in another town and she will not know anybody else there except for him
-
And for your feeding tube, DR vixmom, I believe that is the standard procedure for taking it out. I'm just sorry your physician's bedside manner wasn't more informative or pleasant. Did you at least consult with a nurse in regards to the proper care of the "scar" where the tube was?
-
And in other news... I need to send off a few emails before heading to bed, so...
Goodnight.

Thanks ~ I have been missing you guys but I have not had an opportunity to check in since the Vixter was using the computer for studying purposes (her tests were all this past week) and by time she was done I was sleeping

The reason it's been so crazy is that someone quit and I am now carrying her work load along with my own
the boss hired someone new bu they havn't really bee trained enough to be considerable help as of yet
-
Vixmom, my sister had her last chemo treatment on Friday. Now she just has to recover from it.

we were given the bum's rush out of the office since it was after 9 PM amd they wanted to go home . I was too shocked to ask too many questions - I have been keeping it covered with guaze and changing the dressing frequently... I am just worried about what that is protruding out of the hole.. is it muscle or part of my stomach or partof the internal layer of abdominal wall?

OH I am so happy to hear that!! I pray for her every day. I really should not complain - when I go to the oral cancer discussion site or to any other cancer patient/survivor site I see I have had it so much easier than so many others
I will contimue to keep your sister in my prayers and of course I always send
~~RAPID HEALING VIBES~~~ as well!!
-
my goodness - I need to wake up in five hours and 15 minutes I had better go to sleep
Good night all!!
