Well, you've read the notes, the notes had words, words, and more words, and now it is time for you to post until the blank white cows come home.

And the word of the day is: POLYSYNDETON!

Sorry, welcome thirteen GUESTS.

I've been up monitoring the Election returns for a race in Long Beach in which I assisted.
The race was a special election to fill a vacated City Council Seat.
There are about 13,000 registered voters.
2050 voters cast ballots (16%).
There were 7 candidates and the race is winner-take-all.
My candidate won with 27% of the votes cast (by a 49 vote margin).
So, the guy whom 73% of the voters did not vote for will be the new City Councilman!
The gal who had the seat left to run to fill an open State Assembly seat. She is now filing to run for the just vacated (by death) Congressional Seat. Her main opponent is a State Senator - so, if either one of them wins, we will then need a special election to fill that vacated seat - then a City Council person will run to fill that seat, and then.....

And the word of the day is: POLYSYNDETON!
Polly Syndeton was pretty and athletic, and all the boys who met her fell in love with her immediately, but this didn't bother any of her girlfriends because Polly was either immediately apologetic for it or her engaging laugh told the other girls that it meant nothing to her, and besides Polly was always willing to help the other girls find the perfect accessories for their wardrobes.
If only she hadn't been such a non-stop chatterbox.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR FJL!!!!!!

bk - There are some great places in DR Cason' neighborhood - including your beloved House of Pies. Maybe Cason could pick the dinner place - there are some decent Italian restaurants, and the funky Fred 62 - and then head on over to HoP for dessert and extra whipped cream.
-
Further thanks-so-muches for the birthday wishes to Laura, Der Brucer, Tomovoz, George, Dakota, Woody, Ben, JRand, singdaw, Jose, and of course BK in the Notes.
Skip is busy at work out of the apartment until 4:30 or so, so we'll probably have a somewhat festive dinner, then off to see LEGALLY BLONDE (which I really wanted to see again on my birthday, and we've got 7th row, center section) with Dear Friends Maureen and Bill.
Skip has set this Saturday as the day he and I will celebrate, then I'll celebrate with my parents and bro on Sunday.

And now 'tis time for me to get ready to head back down to Ripley-Grier for another full day (I guess) of auditions.

Skip is gone for much of the day and I'm here with three dogs - Toby and Dylan, of course, and Mary Jay's dog Molly. They all like the idea of having cake, but I don't think I'm gonna let them have any.

It's a three-dog day.

Good morning, all! I'm planning my day, which is mainly uneventful. I have a trek to the NYPL and after that, I shall return and lie around like so much fish. I have a few telephone calls to make, and I'll do those before I head down to Lincoln Center.
-
DR TCB, I didn't respond to your post yesterday because...what can one really say about a situation like that? I feel for you very deeply. Even though your loss is not recent, I'm sure it is still painful, and perhaps painful most of all is the lost possibility and the senselessness of it.
In any case, very sorry for you and your family.

Re: last night's IDOL.
I have not read anybody's comments here yet. But it was definitely an interesting night. I'm not sure how the voting will go mostly because we have to include last week's votes.
I was surprised the judges raked their new favorite over the coals (jordin).
I was very happy blake went back to his beatboxing roots. I mentioned last week that i thought he needed to do that (and make a song his own) in order for him to stay. I think since two are going this week he very well could have gone if he had not done this.
I would guess that melinda would be safe. And i would think jordin would be too (even though they were not kind to her). And now i think blake will be saved by his performance.
We have chris, phil, and lakasha in my B3. I think Chris will go.

Oops i keep forgetting two are going from idol. So i'd say lakisha and chris. But i wouldn't be surprised if phil went. I really don't want blake to go. And i'd be sad if melinda or jordin went. But other than that i don't really care.

Here at the Philadelphia airport, I turned on my laptop.... it instantly said "wireless connection found, strength very good" .... I opened a browser page, and was then told that I had to buy a 1-day connection for 8 bucks as the service is from attwifi .

I was just glad that the "judges" acknowledged that the theme of the evening put the women at a disadvantage. -Why couldn't they have picked one male rockers, and one female rocker? -I would have loved to hear one of the girls rock out on a Pat Benatar song. In any case...
It was nice to see Blake step up his game last night. Yes, he returned to his roots, but he also was singing out more, and show more of his top range.
As for Jordin, I think her weaknesses were showcased last night. Yes, she is already quite a powerhouse, but her natural technique seemed to be stretched to it's limit last night. And, as I've commented before, there's something about her pitch that just doesn't sit well on my ear - she's just never really in the center of it, imho.
*OH! And I talked to a friend who's been to two "Idol" tapings so far this season. He was amazed at the difference in the sound in the studio versus the TV broadcast. He also noted how different singers had different amounts of reverb and "sweetening" applied to their vocals. He noted that Jordin seemed to have a bit more reverb on her than the others. -Which sort of explained some of the raves that the judges have been giving her - when I have not been that impressed.
Whatevah!

In my travels, it's always been interesting to find which airports have free Wi-Fi and which don't.
*One "trick" is to find a seat near one of the frequent flyer lounges (Admiral's Club, etc.)... Usually the Wi-Fi is free in there, and the signal reaches out into the terminal.

I should have known that I should have asked you.... Thanks for the tip, and I'll try that trick. Is there anything about the "provider name" that shows up, that would be an indication of a free service??
-
DR MattH, i am very surprised that melinda's line was not busy. I really thought that she would be safe for sure. But check out dialidol. I think the only people they had as safe were jordin (#1) and blake (#2).
I saw that, much to my distress. Although LaKisha had a good night last night, I still think her persona doesn't denote a winner, and she has had an uphill battle winning me over for the last month or so. I would not be sad to see her go. I think Chris' eviction is a sure thing. And he said in an interview that he's already won in his mind. He got in the Top 10, so he gets to go on the tour, and after that, he'll have some name recognition to do with as he pleases. Did you see how grumpy he was when Ryan called him "Justin Timberlake" last night? Didn't seem to go over very well.
Jordin's fluttery vibrato worked badly against her song last night and threw her off pitch more than usual. In addition, her low end was weak, so it was just a bad choice for her all around. BTW, DR Jose, she has done a Pat Benatar song earlier in the competition, and it was one of her better performances, too, that particular week.

And I think I better shut down, and go to the boarding gate now.

Oh, boy, a big backlog of shows to watch today: both L&Os from last night along with HOUSE and BOSTON LEGAL, and Sunday's SOPRANOS, too, so a busy day for me. The DVD player may not even get turned on today!

Hmm... Another revival of a revival seems to be looming:

Another reason for me not to renew my current subscription. After 110 in the Shade (which I'm looking forward to) and one of the off-Broadway shows my subscription will be up and I won't be renewing. It's just so expensive for such a hit and miss proposition. I think I will be able to get a ticket for Sunday in the Park without a subscription (that's the only thing I want to see so far) and I don't want to pay $300 plus for the other shows.

I bought that PLANET EARTH documentary series on Blu-ray disc since the high definition versions have gotten raves on literally every site I visit. That should come today, but I don't see me getting to it until the weekend.
The video quality is supposed to be reference, and I'm looking forward to seeing for myself. I watched a few minutes of one episode on Discovery HD Theater, but I didn't want to ruin the surprises once the Blu-rays get here.
I got my shipping notice for DREAMGIRLS Blu-ray edition on early Tuesday morning, so that shouldn't get here until Friday, I suspect.

I'm sure that's going to touch on the interesting parts of his career, the first half.

Good morning, no time to chat. I stopped by the new office today (I could see lights on and windows open when I drove by). The painter was there oiling all the wood paneling. He said it's walnut! (I had been told it was medium oak) Cool beans. I realized that the cool leather sofa just isn't going to work. It won't fit right in any of the places I considered putting it. I called and cancelled it. That really solves a lot of my design issues. Just because it was a fabulous deal doesn't mean it will work for me.

Re: last night's VERONICA MARS
*
*
*
SPOILERS
I still liked the show an awful lot. But i must say i must the big mystery. Part of the charm of the show was having these huge mysteries to solve. It was still great having all the relationship drama. And we still got to see veronica on a case. But getting little clues all throughout the shows and having the big payoff in the finale was part of what Veronica Mars was.
I really don't see anybody watching it now if they have not seen it before. I really pray that it gets renewed for next year (is it doubtful?). But i hope they go back to their winning formula. This is one of the best shows on air. And i hope they are allowed to go back to their winning formula.

I have several things I'd like to do - all it takes is money.

"Tarzan's Greatest Adventure" with Mr Scott is probably my favorite of the non-Weissmuller films....
Yes, as DR CP wrote, Mr Denny Miller's Tarzan opus was less than satisfactory.
-
ASK BK DAY #3
And if you did think about question #2
Would consider The Leslie Bricusse Album, I'm Late: Songs From Alice In Wonderland, The Dickens You Say: Songs From Musicals Based On the Works of Charles Dickens?
Newley/Bricusse is something I've been thinking about for years. Alice was always meant to follow up Cinderella and Peter Pan, but it just never got done. I don't think the Dickens album would interest me, but I've got several others that would.
-
Money?
Buy a lottery ticket.
That link to that Show Business movie was very interesting DR DtM....I hadn't heard of it....seems to concentrate on the productions from that year....hmmmm
DR RODZINSKI's column is very good! And yes he and DR TPUNK open tomorrow night in their show!

-
Oh, and I'm up. I slept until nine-thirty, so that was helpful. I'm now behind, and I'm going to try and jog in a few minutes, despite the chilly weather.
-
The interviews in the Marlon Brando documentary were good....lots of talking with Angie Dickinson and Mai Britt (spelled May Britt in the graphics) - some good conversations with George Englund and his ex - Cloris Leachman. And the usual suspects Dennis Hopper and Karl Malden and Martin Landau.
I didn't know that Carmelita Pope (who advertised Pam or something) was Kim Hunter's understudy in STREETCAR on Broadway and talked about going on for her.....interesting.

The Ron Stein CD will come out at some point, as part of a box set.

I bought that PLANET EARTH documentary series on Blu-ray disc since the high definition versions have gotten raves on literally every site I visit. That should come today, but I don't see me getting to it until the weekend.
I got my shipping notice for DREAMGIRLS Blu-ray edition on early Tuesday morning, so that shouldn't get here until Friday, I suspect.
Today we received our Planet Earth, The Queen, and Night in the Museum - tomorrow should be DreamGirls (and Woody's desired "Mastering the Art of French Cooking - Volume II)

And also good wishes to DH Keith, who will be holding down the fort with DD Sherlock in her absence!

Travel vibes for DR JANE as she begins her expedition.
I bought DREAMGIRLS and when I got it home realized that I have the FULL SCREEN version. I don't think it's going to make much difference. Time will tell. I also bought Fly Boys the video game about the Lafayette Escadrille masquerading as a movie.
What was the OTHER movie about a magician that wasn't THE ILLUSIONIST? I was looking for it, but I forgot the title. That is a real hindrance....believe you me!

Good Afternoon!
...Back from lunch. Mandler's Bratwurst with Sauerkraut on an onion roll. Quite dee-lish! Oh, and Corn Fritters on the side - which were like deep-fried nuggets of cream(ed) corn. Also quite dee-lish.
*Needless to say, I should be having a piece of lettuce and glass of water for tonight's dinner.

What a fun noon hour I had! I heard Pier One had 75% off on a lot of stuff so I decided to go out there and see what i could see.
On the way I ran into a lawyer I know who has a conference table to get rid of..it sounds huge, so it may be too big for what I want to do with that room, but I'll see...and I ran into the leasing agent from the Orpheum, there was a table in the office I was planning to rent that she was going to give to me. So I asked about it and she said "Take it, it's yours" It's a really sturdy table that will be great for a work space for my secretary (the as yet unknown person who will someday be hired)

Day 2 of May & today is worse than yesterday.
I just talked to Bryan. Poor guy sounded sad and sick-which he is. His girlfriend borrowed his car and banged it up while parking it in the garage. So much so she was crying. He hasn’t had the strength to look at it. I told him to wait until he feels better, nothing he can do about it anyway.
I still need to pack.
-
Then I got to Pier One. They are indeed having a great sale. I found some upholstered diningroom chairs. They are very sturdy, have a great fabric and nice wood. Reg price almost $250 each....on sale for $62! I took a poll of people walking in the store on whether they thought they would be good law office waiting room chairs and it was a resounding "Yes, I love the pattern" response. I am very happy.....now back to work.
-
DR BEN - those are some of the reasons that I didn't re-new my Broadway Classics series.
The production company kept giving us different shows - most of which were NOT improvements....Debbie Gibson in FUNNY GIRL instead of SINGIN' IN THE RAIN....for example.
Then they started alternating between Clowes Hall and the Murat....and we lost our perfect seats for the shows at the Murat....ugh!
And when I didn't renew, no one called or emailed to wrote to ask why.
-
Cilla-thanks & good news on the furniture. I hope the conference table works.
Cute dog photos DerBrucer.

Tiny Terrier Rescues 5 Children From Pit Bulls
Wednesday, May 02, 2007
WELLINGTON, New Zealand —
This is a dog story.
It's about a plucky little Jack Russell terrier named George, who stood like a giant against two marauding pit bulls and gave his own life to save five kids from the steel-trap jaws and razor-sharp teeth of the vicious attack machines.
Local officials say it's also a story about the people who trained the pit bulls to kill and who may have fed the animals methamphetamines to make them even more deadly.

Hmmm... You know "they" are young when they're not exactly sure what Evita is.
It's inconceivable to me that people can aspire to a profession - ANY profession - and not even be the least bit curious about what came before them. :-\
-
JRand & Jose-Thank you. May just has to be better once I begin my drive to Pittsburgh.
LOL-I still need to pack & we need to take Sherlock into town for a walk. I should pick up something to make a sandwich for tomorrow. Looking at my schedule I have no idea when I will be able to eat-and I can't eat that stuff they sell on the airplane.
-
DR der Brucer - Thanks! Doggie pics always appreciated.
DR Cillaliz - you're better at spending money than anyone I know! :)
I guess that's a compliment. I'm trying to be as economical as I can and still get a professional looking office. It's really hard because I have to get everything and I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I want it to look like I DID spend a lot of money. So scratch and dent, sales and getting things from other people are the only way I know to do it

I just read this and it almost made me cry. They were way to descriptive about the poor Jack Russell's injuries
-
And doing it, you are! More power to ya!
-
Such a cute sweet dog. :'( The breed can be hyper, but very spunky.
We are getting annoyed with a certain element in town that have dogs that snap at Sherlock. Some of the people even have the nerve to say it is him and not their dog. Sweet boy just wants to be friends with every dog he sees.
The other day Keith walked into the street to avoid one of the "street" people & his two pit pull mixes. One of the dogs lunged into the street after Sherlock, pulling the man & his other dog with him. Fortunately the man got control of his dog before it reached Sherlock.
Sherlock has a very sweet friend who is mostly Pitt Bull. It isn't really the dogs but the people who create the problem.

DR Cillaliz - Are you sure you don't need to make a shopping trip to NYC for that new office of yours ;) ?

DH Richard and I didn't renew our subscription to the Broadway series here in Dayton when we got an invoice for almost $700. We decided we'd rather put that amount of money toward a trip to New York.

The brithday greetings keep coming. :) I'd forgotten I'd signed up for a Celine Dion fan site four years ago to get better seats to her show in Vegas and they must have asked for my birthdate back then, because I just got a very sweet form email wishing me "Happy Birthday from Celine."

Did Jeanne Cooper move to GH from Y & R?
... Jeanne Cooper ? ... JEANNE COOPER ?? ... Whatever happened to real genuine stars, like Lucille Wall, and John Beradino, and Rachel Ames, and the wonderful old character actor who played "Angie's father" for a number of seasons??
( ;) I just thought I'd have a curmudgeon moment. )

Re: last night's VERONICA MARS
I really don't see anybody watching it now if they have not seen it before. I really pray that it gets renewed for next year (is it doubtful?). But i hope they go back to their winning formula. This is one of the best shows on air. And i hope they are allowed to go back to their winning formula.
Yes, it's doubtful. There are other shows that do worse than VERONICA, but not much is expected of them, and the quality of VERONICA demands that it be seen to pay off. It has a huge cast of characters and if the ratings aren't high enough, ads won't cover costs.
The ratings will determine whether it will be renewed or not, and if so, what form the next season will take. I haven't been to VARIETY to see the ratings yet but will go there this afternoon and report later.
The creator of the show has presented the CW with two possible scenarios for the fourth season: another season with Veronica in college and a jump ahead in time with Veronica at the FBI and minus all the cast we have now except her dad. No decision has been reached.
-
Lucille Wall and Rachel Ames would make short work of any of these skinny bee-yotches masquerading as "actresses" on soaps today.
And still have energy to do a scene or two!
-
Thanks to my long-lost lookalike brother, Ron Pulliam. (I keep thinking you should be celebrating with the family on Sunday, along with my brother who looks nothing like me. :) )
-
I've had a very full afternoon of viewing. Got all but one show watched plus two WILL & GRACE episodes at the end.
I began with last night LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. It was a "ripped from the headlines" story taken from that scandal between the astronauts some months back. Fun episode with Tate Donovan playing one of the astronauts. The mystery was pretty basic, but I still enjoyed it.
-
Well, it's almost time to board...... sooooo.....
(to quote the maddeningly talented piano boy...)
Laterz.......
-
BOSTON LEGAL had some funny moments, and a couple of touching ones, too.
And the lawyers of Crane, Poole, and Schmidt lost some cases, rare for this show.
-
HOUSE had a rather frantic episode with two brothers desperately ill, one needing the other's bone marrow to survive and the other brother too sick to donate. I enjoyed it though I felt the resolution was very rushed.
-
Dancers done.
Laters...
-
THE SOPRANOS dealt with Tony's gambling addiction and its cost to his sense of security and relationship with his family. Kind of strange this addiction being brought to the forefront so late in the run of the series.
-
Dancers done.
Laters...
I hope you mean - finished with their auditions! :o
-
One WILL & GRACE episode dealt with jack having trouble with one of his new nursing teachers (played by Lea Delaria). Grace was back from Cambodia having left Leo because he was gone working all the time.
I think this was about when Grace's selfishness and all-consuming need for attention began to seriously impair the show's comic potential. She has become so obnoxious at this point in the show that she's unpleasant to be around. I'm not sure I ever liked her character much after this point in the sixth season.
-
The other W&G episode dealt with both Will & Grace inadvertantly picking up dates at a restaurant. Will didn't mention to the girl paying him attention that he was gay and Grace didn't mention to the guy that she was married.
The jilted girl was played by the actress who plays the perky resident on GREY'S ANATOMY. Tom Everett Scott played the guy.
Candace Bergan had a cameo in the show.
-
I have ready to play the Barry Manilow episode with the late Chris Penn as Manilow's road manager. That's next.
-
I just watched about an hour of THE GROUP. Wow - that movie moves FAST!! Sidney Buchman wrote an interesting screenplay and Sidney Lumet chose some outstanding young actresses!
Even though it's 1933 - all of the girls have mid 60's hair, but the costumes are pretty much on.
Sometimes as time goes on and you get used to seeing people all stretched out and trying to stay young....you forget how stunning they once were:
Jessica Walter
Joan Hackett
Candice Bergen
Kathleen Widdoes
Elizabeth Hartman
Joanna Pettet
All of them drop dead gorgeous....and Walter and Hackett even more than the others... WHEW!

(Of course, it isn't REALLY Mad-Eye)

I remember the MAD Magazine parody of THE GROUP which was quite funny.

I still have LAW & ORDER: SVU from last night, and I've recorded a couple of TCM movies, too, that I've never seen.
-
Who'd a thunk it!
Egg-sactly.
LOL....I remember that MAD parody too....but forget the title. 8)
-
I did get the Blu-ray to PLANET EARTH today in the mail. Hopefully, that means DREAMGIRLS will come tomorrow.
-
DR JRand, have you forgotten that with a new HDTV, getting the full screen edition of any movie robs you of anamorphic enhancement? You'll be losing resolution playing the movie in that format on your TV.
-
Egg-sactly.

I have a stack of old MADs from the 1960s. I'll look to see if it's in any of them. I can't remember the title either.

Yes she was.

Who is this Miss Karen person who has suddenly shown up?

I'll start with the birthday song for DR FJL...hummmmm... hemmmmm ...well, I can't seem to find the right note...oh well, trust me it would have been delightful and rousing, but Happy Birthday greetings all the same ... and many more!

What's the word on DR Danise's mom? I read her sweet story about taking Bear to see her mom (read just like a scene out of a movie -- oohhhhhh).

And DR Elmo ~ Want me to hire a couple of wranglers to come out there and teach that fella he'd better not be messin' with our beloved orchestrator?

Yes, the little hearts and flowers and singing blue birds just spring forth from the screen whenever you get close to this HHW site...

SOooo I might as well make bk happy and get us to page 9...

How about the Cell Block Tango for Page 9 .... (gonna see Chicago at our local theatre tomorrow night -- and see how my Sally Rand fans are holding up -- it's been selling out and has been getting rave reviews)

How are DR Jane's mother-in-law and Sherlock of the Giant Paws doing? DCelt's dad and her family issues? I feel so behind on all the news -- most discombobulated -- sorry -- I have been thinking about all of you and your families...
-
and all the birthdays...no way to catch up, so here's a blanket Happy Belated Birthday to any HHWer I have failed to send greetings to recently (could that be any more generic ... most sad...)...

DR MBarnum!!! I miss you!! You realize a week ago this morning we were breakfasting together in La-La Land....

Did DR MusicGuy get back to Phoenix yet? A long line of big ol' thunderstorms were cutting across Texas so I hope his plane got out of DFW before they head for Big D...
Safe travel vibes to that darling cheeky monkey...

Cilla, I have a very delicate stomach. Added to my tendency towards air sickness, I have to be extra careful of what I eat when I fly. If my flight is delayed, then I won’t even have time to look for something to eat. I’ll take a sandwich with me to be on the safe side. Thank you for the vibes.
-
Spoo! I forgot to mention that the VERONICA MARS ratings were not encouraging. They weren't a disastrous tumble from the last time the show aired, but there was a decrease from the GILMORE GIRLS lead-in, and there was over a million viewer difference between it and the PUSSYCAT DOLLS reality show which has been airing in the time slot.
-
DR Jane - your trip will probably go much smoother in reality than in your imagination. Vibes for that very thing!
LOL-I keep telling myself that, I hope it's true. ;D Thanks.
-
Love all of the photos DR Laura -- that little otter, soooo cuuute! Your nature photos are beautiful -- and very artistic (a good eye). Der Brucer, the baby rhino was cute too, albeit the look in his eyes a bit spooky, but still cute. And all the HHW cat/dog/pet photos -- awwwwwww. Can't wait to see photos of DR Cilla's newly decorated office. It's a bit like those make-over shows on TV -- I love before and after designs.

Wheww -- that's about all I can do on catching up ... but I'll keep trying to go back and see what all I've missed....

What's the word on Bratty Spooghetti -- is he still AWOL or did the aliens return him?
Do catch up soon...there's a good girl. Bretty is MIA. He doesn't write. He doesn't call. He doesn't post.
Here one day and gone the next.
Finis!
-
Miss Karen, sweet of you to remember. I’m glad I got to see you before I leave for DC & Pittsburgh.
Keith’s mother is home, but extremely weak. She can move around with the help of her walker, and Keith’s brother is taking good care of her. At her age, only time will tell if she makes a full recovery.
Sherlock has been limping on and off. He was fine on our outing this afternoon, so much so he was very playful & jumped up on a woman who was giving him loads of attention.
I haven’t heard from Danise today. I hope that means she was able to go to work today.
-
Don't feel you have to comment on everything...just pick a highlight or two.
;D
No! I'm gonna comment on every post I missed -- so when you log off and come back on tonight you'll have to read through pages and pages of the little sticker's "comments" ... :-*
-
All this sappiness makes me want to run out and slap a nun.
What?! Just a slap? What happened to your infamous bitch slap?
-
While we were walking in town today we had to keep going from one side of the street to the other in order to avoid the nasty dogs that were hanging around with their owners.
The men with the brown pit bull mixes were carry large back backs. We hope that means they will be moving along soon.
-
DR Jane ~ Is it a road trip or plane trip (haven't found that post yet)?

So what have Dylan and Toby given you for your special day?
-
Additional thanks to Larry and Ginny.
Skip is gone for much of the day and I'm here with three dogs - Toby and Dylan, of course, and Mary Jay's dog Molly. They all like the idea of having cake, but I don't think I'm gonna let them have any.
Aha, the answer!
-
From one Fred to another
(http://images.mallfinder.com/events/umalltampa/Fred_Flintstone.jpg)
Happy Birthday
Strange... I knew this Fred only has four fingers (including the opposing thumb) per hand, but I never realized he only has three toes on each foot!
OUR Fred is much more digital. I've seen his hands.
I'm guessing about his feet.
-
Good morning, dear Esteemed, rested, rehearsed, sinewy, diaphanous, and guapo BK --
I had a thought for your dinner this evening.........
The Tam O'Shanter over in that little funky "village" section of Los Feliz, east of the 5 freeway.
The theme is Scottish, but at least that's kind of close to Irish, and the food was still very good the last time I ate there.
A favorite of der Brucer's and mine.
-
White...
A blank page or canvas...
I have never been a blank page or canvas, I assure you.

I've taken my walks when I had time and mentioned them to no one.
After a brief inquiry -- "Oh, Ron...did you walk today?" -- the subject has evaporated.
As for the wedding....how can I put this delicately ..... ummm...oh, well ... THBRT-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T!

Page 10 Already? Time flies...

Thanks to my long-lost lookalike brother, Ron Pulliam. (I keep thinking you should be celebrating with the family on Sunday, along with my brother who looks nothing like me. :) )
Well...it would be an honor. But...I can tip a glass your way on Sunday...in the spirit of the occasion.
-
THE OFFAL TRUTH - that's the title of soemthing, right?

Ain't it offal, the meat
Ain't it offal?

Enjoy the male contingent this afternoon, DR JoseSPiano!
May you fantasize about each of them wearing their belts.

(Oh, you did.)

Greetings-
Zach and I are just back from a delicious 5 mile walk. Oh, the weather is gorgeous! :)

And DR Elmo ~ Want me to hire a couple of wranglers to come out there and teach that fella he'd better not be messin' with our beloved orchestrator?
I actually had my revenge today. I sent a rebuttal to the maestro, who had told me that he was sending all my future emails to his spam folder. But, I also cc'd it to every person in town he's ever worked for.
-
What's the word on Bratty Spooghetti -- is he still AWOL or did the aliens return him?
I was about to ask the same question.

I love theatre/musical folk.
-
For those who need to know - the Danish entry in this year's Eurovision Song Contest is "Drama Queen".
I'm sure the talented folk here can find a link to the song somewhere.
The UK and Israel entrants are bizarre!
The USA misses out on this wonderful part of European culture. (since 1956). Dear Reader Laura would adore it.

I just now got to read the notes---it was a h#ll of a day in CLOSER-land and I am exhausted from trying to churn out more and more new spots for testing, with a supervising producer nitpicking every little edit when we hae so much to do. Not to mention that I had planned to use my evenigs here after work to work on a wedding video in secret for one of my CLOSER producers. They just left and now I'm too tired to work on it or to even read the posts right now.
So I just dropped in to wish FJL a very very happy birthday!! I hope you have a fun-filled celebration planned. Do what I do and stretch it out all week!
Enjoy!!

DR SlammedDoor - We thoroughly enjoyed the disc - I did miss "Days Gone By" though. It really is the most charming musical ever written.
-
Love the ribbon DR SingedFloor. Is it one of your own?

I'm listening to Mitch Miller's Chorus. They've just informed me that we will all feel gay when Johnny comes marching home. (I think he's been home for ages!)
-

Glad to hear it! Yes, the missing songs and verses of other songs are really inexcusable. I mean, if they went through the trouble to create the darned thing, why didn't they just do the whole show? But even abridged, it still charms! :)
-
Love the ribbon DR SingedFloor. Is it one of your own?
Yes...it's one of the ribbons I'll be wearing down my back...this Summer.
-
Another filmed version would be so welcome. Though I guess they would cast it with Idol winners or with Beyoncé as Amalia etc.

That is just so wrong. But sadly, so true. :-\

The Google links we are not supposed to mention at the top of the page have a link to "Lesbian Dating". Where is DR JMK - I don't blame Jose for that.

A comment I shall leave for DR Jose.

I hope DR BrettySpaghetti is OK. The last entry to his personal blog page was April 24th.

Time for my morning walk - without dogs and very much not 5 miles.

Survived half a day of information waitressing in the middle of the week. I only had to deliver the lecture once to a mom, who was calling for materials for her daughter's college research project, that sometimes one objective for such a project is that the student him/herself learn something about the process.
-
DR Jane ~ Is it a road trip or plane trip (haven't found that post yet)?
Both. Tomorrow I'm flying to DC to meet our younger son & his dog. Friday they will arrive
from Bucharest. Then I will drive them to Pittsburgh & we will apartment hunt for a place near Carnegie-Mellon that accepts dogs. Eventually Craig's girlfriend & cat will join him. He will be there for a year while he gets his masters degree.

Hi all. I have to make this one kind of quick because we are getting ready to go to bed. Mom is a little tired and I am going to get up at about five to go to work like I did today.
I had the scare of my life today. While I was at work, I got a call that there was a “change” in Mom’s condition. I practically flew down the hwy. Of course I was thinking the very worst.
When I got to the Hospice house it turned out that the “change” was that they were putting her back on the Foley (spelling?) bag. When I got to her room, the door was closed and I just about lost it. I would like to say I am taking this well but I was almost in hysterics. I was so frightened I thought I was going to pass out.
Anyway all is well now but they did tell me that they tried to sit Mom up in a chair today and she got weak and dizzy as well.
I was so out of it that when I went home to feed the dogs, I took a nap. Both crawled up with me in bed and wanted to cuddle. I told them both what good dogs they are.
And I have to tell you how wonderful my boss and Thelma were. They both met me at the Hospice house and were with me when I was sobbing my heart out in the living room. I don’t even know how they knew what was going on because I didn’t call either of them and my boss wasn’t at work at the time of the call. Someone from work must have called them.
They are talking about moving Mom to a more permanent home. They agree it wouldn’t be good for her to go to our home, she needs 24 hour care and the house wouldn’t be the place to do that with it being so small.
There isn’t much more to tell. I shall attempt to go to work again tomorrow.
Happy Birthday to our Dear FJL! I’ll never forget you and Skips kindness in having us in your home or that wonderful day/night in NYC. Thanks to DR Jose and everyone who was there. It’s one of the memories I’m clinging to in this difficult time.
Safe travel vibes to DR Jane and her son and his dear dog.

Hello. Busy afternoon at work. Everyone at the Federal Building is starting to ask when my last day is and treating me like a short timer. I'm enjoying it
-
{{{DANISE}}} Vibes to you and your mother. I'm so glad you have people who are there for you even when you don't ask for help. Sounds like the people at work really care about you. I'm so glad you have that.
-
Thanks, DR Cillaliz. I'm afraid I'm not handling this as well as I thought I would. In fact, it has been suggested I go see the doctor for some chill pills.
-
Oh Danise, thank you for your sweet thoughts about us. I'm sorry they scared the heck out you, and extremely relieved and grateful your friends were at the hospital with you.
-
I think part of it is that I am so tired and stressed and stressed and tired.
-
Danise, are there any mild "chill pills" that won't make you drowsy? A little adavan or valium at night might not be a bad idea. Just make sure you get something you can cut in half.
-
Oh Danise, thank you for your sweet thoughts about us. I'm sorry they scared the heck out you, and extremely relieved and grateful your friends were at the hospital with you.
Your so welcome.
:)

Danise, are there any mild "chill pills" that won't make you drowsy? A little adavan or valium at night might not be a bad idea. Just make sure you get something you can cut in half.
I guess that's something I'm going to have to find out if/when I get time to go see the doctor. I had some chill pills last year that I got from my gyn after my surgery but never took them and I can't find them.
-
After I lost my father I used half to a full tablet, of the lowest dosage, of Adavan for a week. You can't take it very long or it becomes adictive. Knowing that should make you less afraid of using it, since you know you will only take it when really needed.
-
As you said, getting sleep would help & those pills relax me enough that I can sleep. There don't make you groggy like a sleeping pill, the idea is to relax, not zonk out.
-
I hate to post and run but I have to get up at five to go to work.
I am trying to get all the rest I can but it seems like even though I sleep, it doesn't help. I'm just as tired when I wake up. I don't think sleeping on this couch thing in Mom's room is helping. The nap I got this afternoon did wonders but it was in my own bed.
Good night all!
-
{{{{{{{{{DR Danise}}}}}}}}}
You're handling this as well as anyone could be expected to. The nap you took sounds like the best thing you could have done after such a trauma.
-
DR Danise, do what you have to to take care of yourself. You have been so strong and are going through such a stressful time. There isn't anything wrong with getting whatever help you need to get through this.
-
You spelled Foley correctly.
-
'night Danise.
-
Sleep well Danise.
-
I have a question for anyone...but Jose will probably know right off the top of his head. :) I went to the Kennedy Center website (http://www.kennedy-center.org/programs/newseason/sondheim/cast.html)[/b] that lists the casts of the Sondheim Celebration shows from 2002. For Company, both Jerry Lanning and Walter Charles are listed as having played Larry. Did they both play the character but on different performances? AND for Sunday in the Park with George, no one is listed as playing the Old Lady (Georges' mother) and Blair Daniels? Does anyone know who played them? Just curious.
-
Strange... I knew this Fred only has four fingers (including the opposing thumb) per hand, but I never realized he only has three toes on each foot!
That's how that Fred stayed out of the army!

DH Richard and I didn't renew our subscription to the Broadway series here in Dayton when we got an invoice for almost $700. We decided we'd rather put that amount of money toward a trip to New York.
That's why I usher and work concessions for everything! I get to see so many things that come to town and, although I do have to actually work ::), it's all free!
Free is good. ;D

Thank you, slingblade. The grief does get less and less, but the sense of loss will always remain.

Li'l Abner will be revived in LA February 5-17, 2008.

I realized just today that I have never (that I remember, anyway) eaten a Baby Ruth candy bar. I have one in front of me. Is it any good?

Also, according to the fine print on the back of the wrapper, I have a one in 14,779,715 chance of winning a trip to the American Idol final. I don't give two figs for American Idol, now that Sanjaya is out of the running, so you can all start sucking up to me now.
-
CP-I like the photo of you very much. You look happy & relaxed.

How much are you willing to pay?

I am home; I am tired.

Next month, when I am finsihed with the musical murder mystery I previously agreed to do (COMMUNITY THEATER IS MURDER); I plan to go from Legally Gray back to illegally brown.
Hell, I'm not going to do any more shows, and I am tired of looking even older than I already am!
-
Hi dear DR Laura, and all of the rest of you lovelies and studlies....
And I too am tired, but home on my own little plot of dirt. And Sugar was just fine at the doggie hotel, but very happy and waggy to see me. I took her for her long walk right when we got home. I knew that once inside the house, and having a bite to eat in my tummy, I'd poop out.
And I am. And that's the truth.....

DR Cillaliz, I like the story about your sticking it to The Man.

DR Cillaliz, I like the story about your sticking it to The Man.
Thanks, but I think it will be a few more years before he's a man ;D
-
I changed my mind and opened PLANET EARTH and watched the first episode - "From Pole to Pole" was the first episode detailing life from the top of the world to the bottom. Gorgeous cinematography, of course, and interesting stories with the animals, very much in the True-Life Adventure mold of finding animals we can identify with and following a personalized story. And the stories don't always have happy endings. Like life.
-
This morning I went for a walk, and I saw this pied-billed grebe:
These are very difficult to photograph for the amateur like me. They dive when they see you, so you need a big camera with a foot-long lens. I just got lucky. And took a dozen shots to get one good one.
-
Thanks, but I think it will be a few more years before he's a man ;D
Yes, it will be, now.
-
I watched a couple more WILL & GRACE episodes, too. One had John Cleese and Minnie Driver repeating their roles as the Finsters.
And that Barry Manilow episode also guest starred Debbie Reynolds as Grace's mother once again.
-
BONES had a good episode about the death of a former astronaut under some suspicious circumstances. A more involved plot than I was expecting but a fairly predictable revelation of the murderer.
-
CROSSING JORDAN had two cases plus the birth of Lily's baby and Nigel trying to discover something unique to present to a group of lab experts. A very crowded episode, and now it's suggested that Jordan and Ivers might become romantically involved. Just a glimmer between them, but if the show was going to run another year (highly unlikely), I think they might have gone there and made that actor a regular on the show.
-
I saw this song sparrow:
-
LOST had some stunning dramatic scenes as we seem to be inching closer and closer to some kind of truth about the island they're on. (Or is it an island?) Josh Holloway had another Emmy-worthy performance as Sawyer/James.
-
As for the AMERICAN IDOL eliminations, I was disappointed with one of the evictions. The other was fully deserved as this person was the weakest singer of the remaining finalists.
Oh, well, neither was going to win anyway, so I guess at this point it doesn't matter who goes in what order.

I am home; I am tired.

Good Evening!
Well... I ended up seeing "Hot Fuzz" tonight. What an amazingly smart and funny movie! It's been a long time since I've laughed that much during/at a movie.
It spoofs/parodies/pays tribute to most of the action/thriller/conspiracy/buddy/etc., etc., etc. movies of the past 20 or so years. -With a particular "fondness" for Jerry Bruckheimer.
I highly recommend this movie. However, I will say there is some violence and gore, but it's funny violence and gore.
-And there's even a great "scene" from Romeo & Juliet too!
-And an amazing cast too: Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, Timothy Dalton, etc., etc., etc..
:)
-
I've sometimes (but not often) wondered if it were still possible to buy a "Baby Ruth".
I only know of them from the 1956 song by George Hamilton IV "A Rose And A Baby Ruth"
-
I'm looking forward to seeing "Hot Fuzz". I enjoyed "Shaun Of the Dead" so much.
