Thursday evening greetings!  Summer-like weather here in SW Ohio.

I got up at 6:30 and was on the road at 7:30 en route to my Stemwave appointment.    All went well.

Good.

I just watched the Royal Ballet perform Frederick Ashton's wonderful setting of Elgar's glorious Enigma Variations. Ashton's comic masterpiece La Fille mal Gardee is my favorite contemporary ballet and his Enigma Variations set in an Edwardian garden where Elgar, his wife, and friends have gathered seem a more serious counterpart. The variations reflect the music's character, and the famous Nimrod variation, dedicated to Jaeger, Elgar's best friend, becomes a beautiful tearjerker pas de trois between Jaegar and the Elgar's. I cannot believe this ballet has never been released pn dvd before.

Had faux chicken stroganoff over farfalle pasta - very good. I'm full. Now to watch some motion pictures.

Nothing particularly special about this recipe, really, but here is my mother's chocolate sauce recipe:

I would like to listen to more Mahler 4s. The one I first heard, and fell in love with, was Claudio Abbado with the Vienna Philharmonic, with Frederica von Stade in the last movement. He takes the adagio 3rd movement quite languorously.

My morning virtual appointment went very well. My sleep doctor is very happy with my "stats," which they download remotely directly from my CPAP machine.

I asked her about this therapy I've seen ads for, where they implant a device and then you no longer have to use a CPAP. She said in her direct experience, it's not a good therapy - it hasn't improved the stats for any of her patients that tried it.

Besides, my sleep apnea is moderate to mild, and I probably wouldn't qualify for the therapy in any event.

Laura, have you heard about Amy Tan’s new book, The Backyard Bird Chronicles? I think you would enjoy it.
