Well, you've read the notes, you know the surprise ending of The Mystery Of The Missing Phone, and now it is time for you to post until the missing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EXFOLIATION!
-
I once flew to NYC for a few hours to attend a theater auction at lincoln center. I then sold most of it on Ebay years later and that paid for my trip to LA.
My prize buy was Cole Porter's autograph on the Playbill from Around the World In 80 Days. Now if only Orson Welles would have signed it.
-
Good Morning Larry
Continued health vibes to your Dad

Good morning, all! Today I return to Toyland, rather like General MacArthur, plan my jaunt next week to the Library of Congress, perhaps work a bit on these fershlugenah reports for Acts Two, Three and Appendix, and then I hope to spend what's left of the day chilling out with a bit of Netflix. My father should be comfortably ensconced by now at my brother's home, and I'll check on him later today.
TOD: the most inane thing I've ever done could have been quite treacherous. I was working on a concert in the early 1990s for the Men's Chorus, and I had had been at home for a couple of days churning out orchestrations for a Thursday night rehearsal. At around 6:30, I grabbed all the orchestra parts and headed fopr the subway. While I was waiting for the train to arrive, I started thinking that I had left a large pot of boiling water, which I had been using as a a humidifier.
Since I wouldn't be home for about 3 hours, I left the subway, went back to the apartment, walked into the kitchen, looked at the empty cauldron, turned the burner on, set the empty pot back on the burner and went to rehearsal. I came back 3 hours later to find an ampty red-hot pan cooking on the stove. God knows what I was thinking.

Dear BK
Catching up on some notes from yesterday.
Dr Penny O "...WORLD OF SHOLEM ALECHEM (sp?) with Bruce."
Can you enlighten us on this? Here is a credit I did not know about.
-
Francois, funny post from yesterday.
-
Morning all!!
-
Lovely dinner photo. I am sure a good time was had by all....
Talking on the phone and then thinking you have lost the phone you are talking on.....
That reminds me of the couple of times Lucy was calling Ethel at the same moment that Ethel came in the back door and for some reason thought she was talking to her ON THE PHONE....always ending the conversation with: "I'll talk to you later, Ethel, Ethel is here....." With the requisite double take!
-
When does "Mrs Henderson....." come out on DVD? I thought it was last week, but it wasn't in any of the stores I visited.
Inane? Well....besides the exfoliation of the top of my head, which is really not MY idea....
Probably....it was setting up an appointment for one of the general auditions for the Indiana Repertory Theatre when I was 19 years old and without ANY acting experience to speak of.....and doing my two one-minute monologs....and then of course waiting and really expecting to HEAR back from them.
I don't even like to think about it.
-
Good morning TOMovOZ, MICHAEL, and BEN.
Off to work. :)
-
Well I bought my copy of Mrs Henderson a few weeks back - but then it came from London!
Just watched "They Shoot Horses Don't They". Great movie IMHO.
-
Inane! I did attempt to mow our acre of grass here on our ride-on mower (I'm not a gardener and Colin was ill).
No-one told me I had to lower the blades.
Of course any attempt from me to play any sport was inane too!!
-
Good morning!
We have a summer day here with clear blue skies and temps in the high 80s. Yikes! Summer in mid-April!
-
DR JRand, MRS. HENDERSON PRESENTS comes out on DVD this Tuesday in the US.
-
I was reading this morning about all the special features on the VALLEY OF THE DOLLS and BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS 2-disc special editions coming in June. Most of the features look like they're brand new for the sets. For lovers of camp, they should be priceless.
-
FJL: Yes, indeed, I was at that matinee. Awful. Just awful.
-
Also saw the contents on the new boxed set of Shirley Temples movies: CAPTAIN JANUARY, JUST AROUND THE CORNER, and SUSANNAH OF THE MOUNTIES.
The last time Fox Movie Channel broadcast JUST AROUND THE CORNER, it was almost unwatchable with so much print damage it looked like it was almost a lost film. And since it doesn't look like Fox has done much restoration work on these sets, that may be one painful viewing experience.
They have been including black and white and colorized versions on these discs, and naturally I've always looked at the original versions, but I wonder if JUST AROUND THE CORNER's colorized version will be a better quality print. I would think all that damage would result in some freaky computer color effects if they used a damaged print to colorize.
-
I do senile and inane things all the time. For example, I'll get it in my head that I want to tend to something during the next commercial of a show I'm watching. When the commercial comes, I start walking back to the bedroom part of the house, but by the time I get there, I don't know what it was I was going to do. In just a few minutes, the little chore has gone completely out of my head.
And I sure felt inane fouling up the playback of the recording of CSI just the other night. I hit the play button on the DVR, and all I got was a gray screen. I fast forwarded about 15 minutes, and it was all gray, so I assumed the network feed had been faulty and I deleted it. I chose another show on the DVR, one I had already started and wanted to resume, and it came out gray. Then I realized, I needed to reset the DVR, and once I did, all the shows came back. CSI would have been there, too, if I had just reset it before deleting the recording.
-
Shayne, it was a high school show, so you're not missing any credits. It's mentioned at length, in fact, in Kritzer Time.
-
Hooray! Tax season 2006 is officially over for me (at least until after Labor Day, when a new mini-tax season begins). The powers that be in the office seem to have decided that what's missing information as of yesterday is going on extension.
-
Saturday greetings! It stormed all night here.
This morning I woke up with a sick sinus headache. After a light breakfast, some coffee, and 2 Tylenol, I went back to sleep for a couple of hours and am better now.
TOD - Once when I was home from college and my parents were both working, I decided to try a hint from a magazine and defrost the refrigerator (that should tell you how long ago it was!) with an electrical appliance (I think it was the electric skillet). What wasn't supposed to happen was the closing of the refrigerator door! It got so warm inside the 'frig that the shelves on the inside of the door melted. It looked like a Salvador Dali sculpture and my mother was not amused.

DR FJL - People will be coming into my library right up until our 9pm closing time Monday to pick up their forms. Glad it's my day off.
-
A recent inane moment:
Skip and I were talking to a couple of folks, including someone whom Skip seemed to know quite well, about the production of CARNIVAL at Paper Mill, and that Charlie Pollock - who's the musical last Starfighter on the Kritzerland cast album - was in CARNIVAL. (This was before I'd actually seen the Paper Mill production.) And I chimed in "Oh, yeah, Eric Michael Gillett is also in that. He was in Skip's show TIME AND AGAIN at MTC" and of course, it turned out that one of the people in the little group WAS Eric Michael Gillett.
(If I want an "out" - and I do - I must say that Eric really looks different - actually even better - than he did back in 2001, but the fact is he did introduce himself as Eric to begin with, so I think it qualifies as a senior, or at least middle-aged, moment on my part.)
-
Eric Gillette was also in the first musical I ever wrote - Start At The Top (in its third incarnation back in 1972, I believe. It may have been one of his first jobs.
-
Mornin', all.
I missed my parents so much last night, at Tami's. It turned out to be only Tami and her husband of 35 years, their son and his fiancee and her mother, and Rikki and me. Rikki's kids never made it, and none of The Mikey's - my brothers horde - ever showed.
But sitting there, those two kids (not really KIDS, they're in their thirties, fa chrissakes...) who plan to have children right away looked like my parents' immortality. They take the ember and fan it. And we remarked that within five years, there will be a child to ask the Four Questions at that table.
It was a holy night in many ways.
-
DR PennyO - What a sweet, heartfelt holiday remembrance. Our Easter guests tomorrow will be my mother, her sister, and my husband's mother. Those 3 are the last of the generation ahead of DH Richard and me and we're cherishing every moment with them these days.
-
I shall now be on my way to the editing room, after which I shall return.
-
Oh my, I can't remember when I've had an unexpectedly free weekend. I was fully expecting this to be a particularly grueling weekend, and was reluctant to even guarantee that I'd be home tomorrow in time for Easter dinner. But in honor of Pesach, I'll just sit here like so much (gefilte) fish for a while, and enjoy the nothingness.
-
Or maybe some matzoh and bitter herbs
-
And one for Morror
-
"Morror" being the bitter herbs, for those who don't speak Haggadah Hebrew.
-
Hmmm. might it not be a miztva for me to get up to post #1800 (100 times chai) on the Sabbath that falls during Passover?
-
Maybe I'll re-list some of my favorite tax-realted films and sundried related matters.
-
A TAXING WOMAN
-
A TAXING WOMAN'S RETURN
-
THE RETURN OF MARTIN GUERRE
-
THE RETURN OF THE PINK PANTHER
-
RETURN OF THE JEDI
(they file a 1040NR, for nonresident aliens :) )
-
A TAX OF THE KILLER TOMATOES
-
The famous Marx Brothers routine "WHY DEDUCT?"
-
The line from SOUND OF MUSIC: "Trapped by our capital gains are we, how can love survive?"
-
From Natalie Cole's song "I've Got Love On My Mind" - as the IRS would say, "I've been waiting for your return"
-
Inane? Hmmm... I'm always thinking about six things at once... which opens the door W-I-D-E for doing inane stuff.
The first incident which popped into my head was horrible at the time, but is now just another example of stupid behavior. I was living in Boulder, CO and was going through some stressful times - much of it financial. One morning I was rushing to pick up some vitamins at a medical office and parked on an incline in the office lot -- all the while thinking about the bills that were piling up on my desk. I was so busy thinking about said bills that I didn't put the car in Park. Just turned off the engine and took my foot off the brake. The car, of course, rolled forward -- and right into the car parked below it. I just sat there and cried. (I borrowed the money from a friend to pay for the damage to the other car - around $600!)
-
From the great I LOVE LUCY episode, where she got the game show questions mixed up: "What do you call the creature that garbs you by the neck and sucks all the blood out of you?"
"The director of Internal Revenue"
(I don't have the question exactly right, but the answer was meant to be a vampire bat, IIRC)
-
And finally,
-
My post #1800 - to life, to life, l'chaim!
-
Recent inane thing I've done - acting on the need to get to the 1800th post on the Sabbath of Passover week. :)
-
RETURNS OF THE SECAUCUS SEVEN
ATTAX OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN (starring Miss Allison Hayes)
TAX-I DRIVER
-
Mazel Tov, FJL!
-
Thanks, Maria.
Also, thanks for coming up with some tax puns that are much worse (by that I mean better :) ) than the old accounting office standards. Those new puns are definitely on the list for recitation at the company's after-tax-season party. We are a riotous bunch in our tax department.
-
You're welcome, FJL. I believe this will be the first time that my work will be appearing at an after-tax-season party.
-
Maria - I may not actually credit you by name for those puns. Hope that's OK. :)
Now, to be honest, I'm used to times when I have nothing to do, but it's disorienting (though not entirely unpleasant) to have geared up for a hectic weekend and then have nothing to do. Except for tomorrow's Easter dinner, that is. I was ready to do returns all weekend, so darnit, maybe I'll make up some fictitious people and do returns for them. How inane would that be? Or is it just insane?
-
I'm all alone here on the board.
Obviously, people have lots to do this weekend.
-
And I've got a little left eye bleariness going. So maybe the tax reprieve came just at the right time.
-

Proof of the rule: What you give your attention to grows. What you take your attention from withers. The Universe only knows abundance... Concentrate very hard... your determined focus is SO creative!! While you were concentrating on bills piling up you connected with so much creative energy!!! Open the channel!! - bills? sure, we got plenty! Here you go! Here's another!!!
I LOVE this stuff!!! It is proof of our power to create!!

My post #1800 - to life, to life, l'chaim!
Beautiful! Just Beautiful!!!
-
It's been quite a morning at 16th Street (and afternoon too)!
I posted one line early today thinking my problem might be going away but no chance. The pain that happened was excruciating.
I had woken up around 5:30 when I turned in sleep and had screaming pain. I then got out of bed and took some ibuprofen. No help. I was OK if I stood or sat in one position but any random movement on my left side and I was in agony.
I woke up Anthony and we went to an urgent care center a few blocks away. It was acutally not a bad experience. I was second on the walk-in list. We arrived at 8:55am. The doors opend at 9am and we were there in back of the gentleman who was first. I only waited about 45 minutes.
Turns out the doctor thinks I have a severe muscle spasm. I've never had anything like this before. He prescribed Vicodin and Flexeril, a muscle relaxant. We went to the pharmacy and filled one of the prescriptions but they didn't have the Vicodin or the generic equivalent so we had to walk to another pharmacy where we got the drugs.
We got back home and I had a big bowl of oatmeal (even though it's almost 80 degrees) since we don't have much food in the house. Today was going to be grocery shopping day. I then took a vicodin and a flexeril and about half an hour later I fell asleep. I've been asleep every since (it's now 4pm) but I must say the drugs did work. I'm up and a little groggy but I' not in pain. I'm still sore but not in pain. The doctor said it will take a day or two for the muscle to un-spasm and then I should be OK.
Wow. I have a high tolerance for pain but I've never felt anything like this. At one point in the examining room I was taking off my jacket and I turned the wrong way and the pain knocked me to the floor. I've seen that kind of thing in the movies but was never sure it could actually happen. I was wrong. Then as we were leaving I turned my head the wrong way as I was saying goodbye to the doctor and boom, I'm on the floor again.
Luckily it's much better now.
Needless to say, it will be a quiet Easter here in Chelsea. No Easter Egg Roll for this couple.
Anthony, by the way, is a very good nurse!
-
And on that note, I'm going back to lay down.
-
And the word of the day is: EXFOLIATION!
That is what I try to do to those statues that have fig leafs on them.

Sorry to hear about your pain, Ben. That is kind of how I have been coping for the last few weeks. I have eaten more Vicodin and muscle relaxers than I have food lately.
-
"..... and when it's twelve o'clock, I climb the stairs.............."
-
Oh, thank goodness, reinforcements!
-

One can only wish!
-

Is porn less cheap on a DVD, than on a video?
-
Gosh, Ben. Sorry to hear about your pain troubles. I hope it all goes away soon!
-
Hmmm, now I have driven elmore, Cillaliz, and DearReaderLaura from the site.
-
DearReaderLaura, that proflie quote is one of the best I've seen in a while. Thank you for bringing a smile to my face.
It has been a quiet Saturday around here. Jed is off at work, and I spent most of the morning killing time on the computer. Then I went to the store to get some supplies for Easter food tomorrow. Sometimes I like to delude myself into thinking that I can cook. We shall see. Soon I will be off to a little Easter cook out that a coworker is throwing. It should be interesting. I will most likely be one the few white people in a predominantly hispanic crowd. Should make for some good pina coladas, though!
-
You shall never drive me away, dear TCB. How are you feeling? If you ever need me to get anything from the store for you, you just need ask.
-
***HEALING VIBES TO DR BEN AND TCB***
Had to get away from my desk - it's so lovely out. Went for a walk along the Boulevard in Studio City. Wandered into my favorite clothing store around there - Dulcinea - and bought a weirdly eccentric top (jacket) on Sale for $40 (regulary $138. A bargoon!). I'll wear it to the Writers Guild tonight. Going to a screening of BRICK, which I hear is good. Skammen - I looked up the time of the screening as I was writing this and saw that the Q&A with the writer after the movie was cancelled. It's a long way for me to drive with no Q&A -- which is what makes the trip worthwhile -- but I've arranged to meet people there, so I can't cancel. Oh well.
-

Thank you, Ann, but I will probably be abusing your friendship a lot in the next couple of months. I am feeling about the same.

YES! Bitter Herb Ice Cream! My favourite! :D

Mental massage to the ones who need it!
My personal message for the day!
-
I wonder if someone has ever tried to put Ginny in a bottle? ;-)
-
DH Richard and I are back after going out for lunch and shopping for Easter dinner. He's resting now after doing one of his least favorite household chores - switching the storm windows for screens. Our house is 50+ years old and does not have easy-maintenance windows. Having the screens in, though, makes such a difference in the climate and lets in the sounds of spring.
I have made a dozen lemon-lime Jello eggs, so tomorrow for dinner we can have Green Eggs and Ham. Soon we will color the eggs I hard-boiled this morning.
-
Ben, TCB?
Have you ever tried... Ben Gay? (Pun intended!)
-
DR Ben - Richard and I, both having suffered back problems from time to time, send relaxing healing vibes to you.
DR TCB - continued vibes for you, too!
-
Glad the you got some relief from that awful pain, DR Ben. Sounds like it was surreal!
-
Ben, TCB?

Anthony has.

Enjoyed some TV/DVD entertainment and phone calls this afternoon.
Started off with STAR TREK's "Menagerie Pari I." This was a cheap way for STAR TREK to make use of the pilot episode which had been filmed starring Jeffrey Hunter and then the show was recast with William Shatner.
I saw a MYSTERIES AND SCANDALS show on E! once on Jeffrey Hunter that said it was Jeffrey Hunter's social climbing wife (not the soap actress Emily McLaughlin he was also married to at one point) who forbade him to take the STAR TREK job. Jeffrey had been a movie star, and she couldn't stand being thought of as the wife of a TV star. To her, that amounted to failure after he had done movies.
Imagine! Do people in the business still think of TV as the bastard stepchild of show business?
-
Then I watched IT'S THE EASTER BEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN. I didn't record it on Tuesday, so I pulled out my videotape of the show. I thought I had it on DVD, but it wasn't on the shelf with the Peanuts DVDs are, so I guess I've never gotten it. It had a couple of genuine belly laughs in it which sort of surprised me. I hadn't watched this in a long, long time.
-
Ben, can you share photos of Anthony's work?
-
And since I had the VCR all warmed up and working, I put in the videotape of LOVELY TO LOOK AT since I messed up the DVD this week I was going to make of the movie. Enjoyed seeing it as always.

That's called the near-invisible dance!!! ;D

Thank you, one and all, for the good vibes.
I probably should finally explain what the kids next door and a few other good friends already know.
For the second time in my young thirty-eight (Oh, Okay) fifty-five years, I am going to have my left hip replaced. I see the surgeon next Thrusday, and will probably schedule the operation for sometime in early May.
Since this is a replacement, the surgery will be more evasive, and more painful (whoopee). That means I will be off work for about six to eight weeks. The good news is that I will be able to post during the daytime hours for the majority of my recovery.
-
DR TCB - We Hainsies and Kimlets will be here to keep you company during your recovery! Best vibes for a reassuring visit with the surgeon next week.
-
Needless to say, the aforementioned kids next door stand ready and willing to do whatever they can to assist our wonderful TCB.
-
Advanced good wishes for the impending surgery, and I know you'll (or your cyber kids) keep us informed on your progress.
-
Heading down now for some quality video time.

Right now I am cooking dinner for six guests. I have already prepare the salads and the fruit plates. The veggies are starting to cook and the meat is next to be prepare,.
I haven't done this in a long time. Thank god for Prozack. I'm calm. I'm calm. I'm perfectly calm.

Then again if I am singing Sondheim maybe I'm not.

The best to you during that trial, DR TCB! Hope you get male nurses (A Cchorus line of them!) to take care of your "mal"!
-
I haven't done this in a long time.
Me neither! ??? ;D (Your turn TCB!)
-
Ben - I'm so sorry for your pain. Sometimes, though, if you don't take enough quiet time, your body will do strange things to force quiet time upon you...
TCB - second one, huh? Wow. And you're my age... It's a miracle that they can just go in and put another hip inside... a younger cousin of mine was so crippled by the time he was 40, that he had both hips replaced, and finally could walk and sit and lie down without pain for the first time in years. That's what I wish for you - that they get it SO RIGHT that you'll feel better than you knew was possible. How else will it be possible for you to dance for joy???

Three stone doves,
Three purple eggs,
And a bear near a geranium pot! ;)

Where IS everybody???
Egg hunting is only allowed in Oz today!!

Ooooohhhh 2:16 am here!
It's Easter morning! ;-)

Oh, I could write a sonnet about your easter bonnet (But I won't! ;))
(I guess Tab Hunter is too busy with Lola; looking for eggs?) :D

I think Tab will be with us in Apple Blossom Time.

All I Want For Easter Is MY Two Front Seats! (Weird, hey?!)
-
Here is a fun Easter tune called "Hippoty-Hoppity Easter Bunny" It is sung to the tune of the "Eensy,Weensy Spider". The children sing this song seated with legs out stretched and hands touching toes. It goes like this
The Hippoty Hopity Easter Bunny is coming straight and me. Closer and closer he hops up on my knee. Up to my shoulder the Bunny's much to near. Happy Easter, he whispers in my ear.
(As the children sing this song, their hands hop from their feet to their knees and eventually to their shoulders and ears. They absolutely love it!!!!!)
Weird, hey?

We'll put in a pinch of magic
One rainbow, finely diced
And to add to the mixture
A little sugar and spice
Then to give it the right taste
We'll add a child's dream
Add some imagination
Now to let it steam
This is how to make Jelly Bean Stew
In a imaginary way
This will make you smile
And maybe brighten your day
(If this isn't weird,
There's no Glocca Morra!)

The only version of "Apple Blossom Time" that is played on radio here is by Wayne Newton. Ugh!
The Tab Hunter version was one of the first Warner Bros pop records. Julie's "sisters" also sang Ferryboat Serenade. Not to be confused with Fairyboat Serenade.
-
sung to the tune of I'm a little Teapot.
I'm a little chickie, (crouch down inside your egg) Ready to hatch
Pecking at my shell (Pecking motion)
Scratch, scratch, scratch! (scratching motion)
When I crack it open, Out I'll jump (jump out of shell)
fluff my feathers, cheap, cheap, cheap!

You must mean Wayne Oldton! (I know, It's NOT bunny... errr funny!)
Who ever sang Fairyboat Serenade?
Stinker Belle? :o

Easter morning exercises:
Bunny Baby bunny bounces high (jump high)
Baby bunny bounces low; (jump low)
Baby bunny blinks his eyes; (blink eyes)
Baby bunny waves good-bye. (wave good-bye)
(Ain't that inane?!)

To the tune of If your happy and you know it
If you like the Easter Bunny, hop, hop, hop (repeat)
If you like the Easter Bunny and you think he's really funny,
If you like the Easter Bunny - hop, hop, hop.

And now an Easter song from the Mikado (!!!)
5 little Easter eggs,
Lovely colors wore;
Mother ate the blue one,
Then there were four.
4 little Easter eggs,
Two and two, you see;
Daddy ate the red one,
Then there were three.
3 little Easter eggs,
Before I knew,
Sister ate the yellow one,
Then there were two.
Two little Easter eggs,
Oh, what fun!
Brother ate the purple one,
Then there was one.
1 little Easter egg,
See me run!!!
I ate the last one,
And then there was non

Special message to TomdeSavoie... I mean Tom De Oz!
Found this following message (at http://newhopemusic.com/easter.htm)
I am listening to the song: "Hallelujah, Jesus is Lord"
by Stephen M. Misarski on your website.
It is a great song and I wondered if it is permissible to
play this song and sing it in our Easter Sunday Service?
We are a small church with 100 in the congregation
in Perth Western Australia. (Pastor Neil, from Australia)

To quote BK:
People come, people go!
It's like Grand Hotel!
-
Lovely dinner photo.
For some reason this reminded me of my favorite Dick Van Dyke Show moment of all time. Little Ricky had left some sort of toy walkie-talkie over at Millie and Jerry's next door, and it was left on so Rob and Laura could hear Millie and Jerry arguing or saying mean things.
Laura says, "Oh Rob, do you think this is right, spying on them like this?"
To which Rob replies: "Aw, honey, we're not spying. It's a toy. We're PLAYING!"

I'm back from a VERY long day in the editing room. Act two took much longer than I would have thought, but we got it done and I now have tapes of both acts, which I'll watch tomorrow and make notes about which shots to replace and what needs tweaking. Then we'll begin that work on Monday or Tuesday evening - it shouldn't take all that long - it just requires that my editor and I look through all the pickups and choose the shots, and then just replace the ones we don't like.
I am so exhausted right now, that I'm afraid I've had to cancel dinner with dear reader Hisaka because I haven't had a day or night off in over a week and I need to just sit here like so much fish and do nothing whatsoever except perhaps watch a DVD or two.
-
François & Tomovoz, Happy Easter.
-
Ben, I’m so relieved it was nothing worse and you are on the mend. Tell Anthony hello & I hope he is also recovering nicely. I’m sure you gave him quite a scare.
I hope you can accommodate DakotaCelts request, photos of Anthony’s houses always makes me happy.
-
I just got an e-mail with the subject "Paradise Awaits You". I thought it was SPAM from church trying to get me to repent for the holiday. Instead, it was just an offer for a cruise to Hawaii.
-
Thank you DR Jane. I now have to convince my computer that emails from yourself and DiT are not Spam. Very odd. TCB's mail I can understand.
-
TCB it really is important to eat with Vicodin, I hope you are having something.
Less pain vibes! And good news your hip will finally be replaced.
GOOD VIBES FOR A SUCCESFUL, PROBERLY DONE, REPLACEMENT!
I’m so grateful the “kids” live next door. :)
-
Thank you DR Jane. I now have to convince my computer that emails from yourself and DiT are not Spam. Very odd. TCB's mail I can understand.
;D
Is it only my new address that is considered SPAM? Shall I send a test run with the old address?
-
It should be sorted out Jane. I still check the Spam folder just in case!
-
TCB it really is important to eat with Vicodin, I hope you are having something.
I do! That is why I am eating the muscle relaxers with them.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

That was a joke!
Thank you Jane, an everyone for your good wishes.
I am glad the kids live next door, too.
-
Hmmm, now I have driven elmore, Cillaliz, and DearReaderLaura from the site.
No, you didn't drive me from the site. For some reason on my laptop it shows I'm signed in when I login, but on my screen I'm still a guest. Everything works fine on my desktop, so it must be the computer
-
Just had a Subway sandwich, which I was really hungry for.
-
That was a joke!
Thank you Jane, an everyone for your good wishes.
I am glad the kids live next door, too.
And a very good joke- ;D
-
Well, it's stormy again tonight, but not right here. Of course, the night is fairly young, but so far so good
-
Pain free vibes to DRs Ben and TCB
-
My mother and I were discussing how stupid it was that my dad burned leaves last night when they have said don't burn because it was too dry.
Well as we were talking she was notified that there was a fire near their place at the lake (across the street from where dad burned last night). They had poured lots of water on the burn pile. It turns out that it wasn't that, probably a cigarette thrown out the window of a passing car. It burned up their fence, some things next to the guest house and singed the guest house wall a little. But, luckily, it didn't damage any thing else.
-
Back vibes for DR BEN.
Hippy hippy shake vibes for DR TCB. And of course I have to repeat one wag's question asked when Liza went into the hospital for a similar procedure: "J.H.C. - how many hips does that woman have?"
-
I had plans to do a lot of organizing and work around the house this weekend, but have mostly been doing little or nothing. It's been WONDERFUL!!!
-
Blue has taken up residence in the back yard and is now free to roam in or OUT of her pen. She is sleeping right now on the deck as though she WAS the Queen of Sheba.
DR GINNY's story reminded me of the time I decided to help my mother by doing the dishes. Do not - repeat - DO NOT use regular dishwashing liquid in the dishwashing.... DO NOT!!!
-
I had one of those moments when my mood could easily have turned dark today. I was in the grocery store watching the families shop together for Easter and thinking "Oh poor me, I'm all alone"
Then I remembered that it was my idea not to go home for the weekend. I started joking with a couple of the employees and really made one laugh. That's all it took. I was happy again
-
Thanks for the HENDERSON facts, DR MATTH - and I noticed the VOD (or as it was known in publishing circles VD) - has a sales rank of 600 or so on Amazon.com - almost 8 weeks before its release!
There is also a very nice review of the film with a though about Patty Duke and her performance that never occurred to me, but makes perfect sense. She was just too young for the role....
-
Hmmm, I've done so many goofy things that I can't think of one in particular. Let's see, the most recent would be that I went to the drive up window to get a mocha the other morning. I had so much change I decided to pay in exact change. I carefully counted it out, gave it to the clerk in the window and drove away. Luckily I didn't get very far before I realized that I forgot to get my coffee. I went back and the clerk was holding it and laughing. I said "what do you expect? I haven't had my coffee yet?"
-
Titanic night on the Discovery Channel!
Yes, DR TOMovOZ - They Shoot Horses, Don't They? is a terrific film....and Mr Gig Young certainly deserved his Oscar for that performance.
-
I'm not spying - I'm playing.
-
Cillaliz, thank goodness more damage wasn't done.
-
Maybe he thought it was his tip, DR CILLA LIZ.
-
Hopefully I can get someone to take a picture of me with Blue tomorrow. She may even need to wear an Easter Bonnet.
-
MAD Tv is supposed to be new tonight, we shall see!
-
TCB, you did not drive me away. I have been sacked out on the couch most of the day with a cold.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good vibes to you on your hip.
-
I am happy to report that Nilla has been his old docile self all week. Tonight, unlike a week ago, instead of attacking me, he curled up on my lap and purred. That's the Nilla I know
-
Cillaliz, thank goodness more damage wasn't done.
Definitely. We're counting our blessings. My brother had a devastating fire 1 1/2 years ago, so losing a fence and as my mother says having damage that "a can of paint will take care of" is something they not happy about, but not overly stressed either.
-
Hurray for the Return of Nilla!
-
In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it, you'll be the finest lady in the Easter parade
Titanic night on the Discovery Channel!
Yes, DR TOMovOZ - They Shoot Horses, Don't They? is a terrific film....and Mr Gig Young certainly deserved his Oscar for that performance.
Indeed he did.
The movie almost cries out to be a stage musical but then "Steel Pier" tried. (maybe too hard). Perhaps there is no way to make the events etc "Uplifting" and send the audience away happy.
-
In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it, you'll be the finest lady in the Easter parade
Hahah....now I shall have to search the closet for the perfect chapeau for Ms. Blue. ;D
-
In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it, you'll be the finest lady in the Easter parade
We just finished watching that movie - I love the fact that it's the girl singing that song to the guy.
I'm not totally ready for our small family gathering tomorrow, but readier than I was 12 hours ago. Off to bed, waiting for the Easter bunny to come down the chimney. What? Oh, never mind...
-
Whew! Such a tough subject, DR TOMovOZ. Wasn't there at least one play about Marathon Dancing? I don't think it was a musical, though. And you are right about the subject being down....of course, if you think about it....CHICAGO wasn't exactly champagne and caviar. :P
-
I've been enjoying the History Channel series 10 Days that Changed America, or whatever they are calling it. I especially enjoyed the Scopes Trial and the episode about McKinely.
-
LOL DR GINNY don't forget to leave some Peeps out for the Bunny!
Ain't it the truth! Just when I think I know my History....something shows up that I didn't know - at all!!! :-X
Tonight we also saw on the Food Network a guy who makes works of art out of Peeps.
That was what really baffled me as a child. I couldn't figure out the chimeny thing, I looked up it and there was the damper...but the Bunny...how did he get in? I never got a good explanation for that one
Page Seven Valley of the Dolls Dance! :o
Well, however those guys get in the house, they all seem to arrive via Target!
I'm looking forward to the pic.
Especially McKinley. I went to McKinley Elementary School, but I never really knew anything about him, other than he was a president and he was assasinated (sp?)
Now THAT'S entertainment!! 8)
Especially McKinley. I went to McKinley Elementary School, but I never really knew anything about him, other than he was a president and he was assasinated (sp?)
I have become interested in John Wilkes Booth and his life....there are a few books....but his motivation is still such a mystery to me....
His section in Sondheim's ASSASSINS is my favorite part of that show...
-
I've never seen ASSASSINS, but I've wanted to
-
Maybe I should watch THE LONG SHIPS....any movie with Richard Widmark, Sidney Poitier, AND Russ Tamblyn can't be all bad.
Colin Blakely is in it, too. He was in THIS SPORTING LIFE....and I kept thinking where have I seen this guy? Of course....he was Watson in Billy Wilder's THE PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES!
-
Tomovoz & Francois - Isn't there that great Rodgers & Hammerstein Easter song:
Brisk, lively, merry and bright
An egg roll
Let's color morning and night,
An egg roll
Don't stop whatever you do
The Easter Bunny loves you
And sure your honey will too
An egg roll
-
The McKinley doc goes into a lot of detail about the assassin. I should remember his name but I don't right now, it was fascinating
Ugh. Choxie!
Hello, I must be going.
Everyone have a great evening....see ya on Easter!
And remember.....when He comes out, if he sees his shadow, it's six more weeks of winter!
Czolgosz!
Pronounced: Choxie
-
Vibes for TCB, the HIPPEST cat in town!
-
Well there's always WITH 6 YOU GET EGG ROLLS
Ummmm... I "believe" THAT was discussed earlier and SEX was even added to the story! Of course, Dodo Day was not involved!
François Cellophane HHW Poster! :D
Was that the guy named Cyzyldkieljdkeklskejkjdstein or something like that?
Yes, Leon Czolgosz. Here's the website for the series
JRand - Not all about Esther, but she was referenced in:
I'm as corny as Esther at Purim
I'm as normal as Mom's matzoh brei
No more a snot
Now I love Tu Bishvat
"Cause I've found me a nice Jewish guy
How do you get Choxie out of that?
All well and good....but could they write an Esther song? ;D
I guess it's too late to know!
They never wrote for Miss Williams btw! ;)
Must be from Oyklahoma, I guess! ;)
(Wrong! But what I wouldn't do for a pun!)
Vibes also for BEN the most spasmodic fellow I know.
Well, I've definitely been in that spot before. A few years ago, my back hurt so bad I could not MOVE. It was like 10 degrees out and I had to walk just a few blocks to the emergency room nearest my Brooklyn apt. But I could not get my shoes on! It took me an hour to get them on.
At the hospital, they couldn't really do anything for me long-term, but the codeine IVs helped me through the night.
-
How do you get Choxie out of that?
Merely a joke, based on the name of the new line of chocolate candies now sold at Target. :)
-
And one for Malka!
Ben is a spasmellowdic fellow, may I correct! ;)
-
Esther Hamalka, that is - no relation to Oscar Homolka.
-
If I remember correctly, the thing that was interesting about McKinley and Garfield as well is how disastrous their medical care was.
-
I hear thunder rumbling. Would love to stay but better get off the computer
-
Ben is a spasmellowdic fellow, may I correct! ;)
He is also spasmo-rific
But we must be careful. Tiger Woods recently had to apologize for saying he had putted like a "spaz", which is sort of a common slang word kids use here, but evidently taken more seriously particularly in Britain as a reference to spastic patients.
-
Maybe I should watch THE LONG SHIPS....any movie with Richard Widmark, Sidney Poitier, AND Russ Tamblyn can't be all bad.
No! But close. Stick to "The Vikings"
-
FJL-
Pass on my thanks to the NY State Tax Board for adding an extra half hour to my tax prep, since I had to hand copy everything from my W-2s onto their ridiculous new form. No faith in the W-2s anymore? Gads!
-
Esther Hamalka, that is - no relation to Oscar Homolka.
I've known her sister Ruth whose other sister, Eileen, sure never was Irish, and who never married Mr Homocha, even though she was a cream.... ??? ;)
It's used here by kids too.. Hence a certain young (then)Australian player received world headlines at the US Open a few years back.
They have such a weird sense of humour in Britain!! :o :o ;D
-
Today, I had play rehearsal. One of the three actresses didn't show up. She's sick. Oh well, I read the part and we had some fun. The Carrot Stick Girl seems pretty nice. A little "always on" in that way folks can be, but if I can keep her away from carrots, we should be alright.
-
Rodzinski - They're totally committed to these Skammable, I mean scannable, new forms. Believe it or not, they're trusting taxpayers even more than before. But this new system has been a royal pain.
-
FJL-
W-2 is also the name of the new tax-themed band from Ireland.
They are fronted by charismatic lead singer Bon-owe.
-
Rodzinski - They're totally committed to these Skammable, I mean scannable, new forms. Believe it or not, they're trusting taxpayers even more than before. But this new system has been a royal pain.
Royal pain! Another British specialty! Ah! :o :)
-
Rodzinski - More fresh tax puns, keep 'em coming. I'm keeping a list of these. But again, probably not giving proper credit for them. :)
-
Rodzinski - They're totally committed to these Skammable, I mean scannable, new forms. Believe it or not, they're trusting taxpayers even more than before. But this new system has been a royal pain.
Their trust of me is touching. But I'd rather they trust me less and make the forms easier. I don't wanna cheat 'em. I just like being done with it! :)
-
Or in the case of Ireland, more fresh tax punts.
-
Truly, the tax collectors want you to feel touched. :)
-
Well, FJL, I suggest you watch the sci-fi tax classic:
IT-201 CAME FROM OUTER SPACE
-
Good evening!
I've had a full night of videos and TV.
First up was the rest of the STAR TREK episode I had been watching. OK way to stretch out an unused pilot into two episodes of a series.
-
Is a cabdriver with a cold a Taxigermist?
-
Rodz - i wish I'd thought of that one.
But as far as my co-workers will know, I did think of it. :) :)
-
Tomovoz - That one was pretty tariff-ic, too.
-
Next up was ROBOTS on HBO-HD. I never saw this in theaters last year, and I never got around to buying, renting, or borrowing the DVD. Tonight was my first (and last) experience with it.
The animation was quite wonderful, always amazing what these computer wizards can do to turn these weird objects into characters we care about. And in high definition, the detail was pretty spectacular.
The story, jokes, and action all seemed tired, recycled, and not up to the best of the Pixar gems or the SHREK movies. I even liked MADAGASCAR better.
-
I flipped over to ABC-HD to see if the network was broadcasting the DeMille TEN COMMANDMENTS in high definition. They weren't. They were using the full frame print they've used for ages.
-
I think the Cab jokes were ones that Jodie tried to foster.
-
Good evening!
I saw Thank You For Smoking - I laughed a lot. Liked it very much. Then I came back to the loft - oh, whatta gawjus place, whatta gawjus neighborhood - 'scuse me, where was I?? oh, yeah - when I got back I sauteed some fresh mushrooms and a nice piece mahi-mahi in a little olive oil, tossed in some soup greens, sautee, sautee - voila! Dinner!
So now I'm kinda yawning and thinking maybe I'll sleep to a movie or something, a little nap, to rest up for the rigor of a night's sleep in about 2 more hours...
Hi, Hisaka! Welcome to LA!
Oh, another yawn... bye now...
-
Hubba-hubba! Page 9!!! Hahahahahahaaaaaaa....hhhhmmmmmm.... yawwwnnnnn......
-
I've always thought that Taxidancing was more appropriate to Disney animation. Perhaps the newest feature about Cars may include it.
-
I watched a rerun of CSI: MIAMI. Always spectacular looking in high def, this was an episode I didn't have a clear memory of even though it was from this season. I remembered one subplot about a doctor who had stitched up a patient after an appendectomy with the surgical sponge left inside the patient, but the primary rape and murder plots I didn't remember at all nor did I remember the identities of the perps.
-
Didn't June Havoc write a play about marathon dancing............ MARATHON 33?
-
Rodz - i wish I'd thought of that one.
But as far as my co-workers will know, I did think of it. :) :)
I'd think of more for ya, but I'm H&R Blocked.
-
And I finished the evening with another rerun, this time LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT on NBC. I didn't remember this one either apart from the actor playing the computer genius. The story seemed completely new to me though his face was very familiar.
-
Didn't June Havoc write a play about marathon dancing............ MARATHON 33?
Yes, indeed!
We are having Onion soup for lunch.. I shall not invite François as I remember his comments about the effects of consuming it.
"I Love Onions" - Susan Chrisitie 1966
Wasn't Taxidancing featued in CABBIN' IN THE SKY?
And I finished the evening with another rerun, this time LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT on NBC. I didn't remember this one either apart from the actor playing the computer genius. The story seemed completely new to me though his face was very familiar.
Yeah, that happened to me a lot, back in my drinking days.
-
Wasn't Taxidancing featued in CABBIN' IN THE SKY?
Only when they taxied on the runway.
-
Last year, I paid a huge chunk of money to have H&R Block do my taxes for me. The amounts have been steadily increasing there for years, and so this year, I decided to buy tax preparation software and see what I could do on my own.
Yes, it took an entire Saturday morning to enter the information and a couple of other days to update the information when amended forms came in.
However, I got the entire federal and state returns done, printed out, and mailed for less than $60 (not counting what I owed, of course). I can't see ever going back to H&R again. My return at one time really required an expert to do it since I was living in one state and working in another. Now, I think I should be able to handle it myself with the aid of the computer.
-
healing vibes o Ben and TCB!!
TCB I hope you feeling better soon...
-
Yeah, that happened to me a lot, back in my drinking days.
I wish I could claim that excuse. My problem is plain old senility.
-
Taxidancing wsa also mentioned in OKLAHOMA - "You ain't gonna give them a livery, are ya. Pa?"
Or was that a shivaree?
That joke even made ME shiver, actually.
-
I have taken the RENT DVD out and will more than likely watch it tomorrow afternoon.
-
Wasn't Taxidancing featued in CABBIN' IN THE SKY?
You're thinking of the Burt Reynolds film, THE MAN WHO LOVED CAB DANCING.
-
"The Easter Egg Parade" by Jimmy Wakely was a good 45 I had as a kid.
-
Didn't Limo O'Shea appear in the revival of MY FARE, LADY!
-
Thank you, one and all, for the good vibes.
I probably should finally explain what the kids next door and a few other good friends already know.
For the second time in my young thirty-eight (Oh, Okay) fifty-five years, I am going to have my left hip replaced. I see the surgeon next Thrusday, and will probably schedule the operation for sometime in early May.
Since this is a replacement, the surgery will be more evasive, and more painful (whoopee). That means I will be off work for about six to eight weeks. The good news is that I will be able to post during the daytime hours for the majority of my recovery.
TCB
I send good thoughts and I hope the surgery all goes well.
-
We are having Onion soup for lunch.. I shall not invite François as I remember his comments about the effects of consuming it.
"I Love Onions" - Susan Chrisitie 1966
Oh, I've posted about the effects of RAW onions (Not soup!) have on my body because BK commented that it was going to be the title of one of his novels:
ONIONS MAKE ME FART! ;)
-
And didn't MY FARE, LADY include the song "Wouldn't It Be Livery?"
-
Wasn't Taxidancing featued in CABBIN' IN THE SKY?
No! Never was featued! Nor flatued either! :D
-
MMM The Queen of Shiver. Wasn't she a character in that famous play about the arrival of the man who brought the frozen water.
DR Francois, have the student strikes in paris affect you at all?
BTW, you are quite the gent of smiles good sir!
-
My inane moment (one of many): I was trying to take photos of my friend and her new baby with my digital camera. Every time I snapped a photo, the camera was just shutting down. I changed the battery, still no change. It turned off I was pressing the power button instead of the button that takes a picture.
-
And didn't PIDDLER ON THE ROOF include the song "Fart from the Homo I Love?"
OK, OK, but I didn't start with the fart jokes.
-
I like bananas, because they have no bones.
Didn't Limo O'Shea appear in the revival of MY FARE, LADY!
You're taking us for a ride!!
Well, it's stormy again tonight, but not right here. Of course, the night is fairly young, but so far so good
Cilla, I noticed taht on the news and Ihope you are okay with all the nasty weather in your area. I saw the pictures from Iowa City. The destruction is amazing.
DR Francois, have the student strikes in paris affect you at all?
BTW, you are quite the gent of smiles good sir!
No, because they had the good sense of striking on my days off!
But we're all are glad that the mess is over!
And La Sorbonne can now be enjoyed like before; no huge wooden walls around it and business nearby back to normal! So many stores and businesses were damaged!
Thank you for the compliments! 8)
BONE YESTERDAY - that's my next film about the memoirs of an ex-porn star
-
Tonight we also saw on the Food Network a guy who makes works of art out of Peeps.
I saw that earlier...
It amazes me what kinds of food people make masterpieces
-
Heading for bed now.
Enjoy the rest of this joke-filled evening!
Good night!
I am happy to report that Nilla has been his old docile self all week. Tonight, unlike a week ago, instead of attacking me, he curled up on my lap and purred. That's the Nilla I know
My fart comment is NO JOKE!
Onions do make me fart!
Ain't it a gass?!
As I think Archie Bunker said, it's like a regular Wisconsin Round Table here, isn't it? :)
-
Which of course means zilch. The song was #1 in Oz and the UK but made barely a ripple in the USA.
Peter is Eden Kane's brother. And that information is probably just as useless!
Perhaps I'll go and listen to the Rick Springfield/Randy Crawford duet "Taxi Dancing".
J'Aime Les Bananes Parce Qu'y A Pas D'Os Dedans
Ray Ventura & ses Collégiens
Les bananes
- Pistaches salées ! Amandes, noisettes, bonbons acidulés, cacahuètes, caramels...
- Hé garcon !
- Monsieur ?
- Vous n'avez pas d'bananes ?
- Non monsieur, nous n'avons pas d'bananes.
- Ben qu'est c'que vous avez alors ?
- pistaches salées, amandes, noisettes, bonbons acidulés, cacahuètes, caramels...
Beuh...
J'aim'pas les noisettes : on s'y casse les dents.
Vivent les bananes, pas'qu'y a pas d'os dedans !
J'aime pas les sucettes, les bonbons fondants.
J'aime les bananes, pas'qu'y a pas d'os dedans !
Les dieux de l'ancien temps, aimant la fantaisie,
À tout autre aliment préféraient l'ambroisie.
Ah ben moi j'veux bien vous croire, mais en attendant,
Vivent les bananes, pas'qu'y a pas d'os dedans !
Les plus grands poètes, même les décadents,
Aiment les bananes, pas'qu'y a pas d'os dedans !
Tous les hommes de science, même les plus pédants,
Aiment les bananes, pas'qu'y a pas d'os dedans !
Même les plus inconnus parmi les hommes célèbres
Apprécient les vertus de ce fruit sans vertèbres.
Les plus grands ministres et même les présidents
Aiment les bananes, pas'qu'y a pas d'os dedans !
J'n'aime pas les asperges, c'est intimidant vous n'trouvez pas ?
Oh que si ! Et on n'sait jamais par quel bout les prendre...
J'aime les bananes parce qu'elles n'ont pas le goût de la cannelle...
Et je déteste la cannelle !
- Et toi Jean-Pierre, aimes-tu les bananes ?
- Non !
- Et pourquoi donc ?
- Eh dame, parce que le goût ne m'en plaît point.
Oh... et puis comme couleur, les épinards sont tellement plus ravissants !
- Et toi Gudule tu les aimes les bananes ?
- Oh oui !
- Et pourquoi ?
- Ah ben, ah ben, ah ben, pas'qu'y a pas d'os dedans !
Actually, onions make you smart. It's true, I heard they make ya' a*s-toot.
Get it, a*s-toot, astute? Oh, never mind.
Please feel free to remove that one if it violates standards of decency.
Or dignity. :)
As JRand might say, when it comes to dignity, some of us are like hogs to the trough. :)
Ray Ventura & ses Collégiens are France's answer to the Hoosier Hotshots, I gather.
Especially McKinley. I went to McKinley Elementary School, but I never really knew anything about him, other than he was a president and he was assasinated (sp?)
Peculiar,, The elementary school I live near is called McKinley
Last year, I paid a huge chunk of money to have H&R Block do my taxes for me. The amounts have been steadily increasing there for years, and so this year, I decided to buy tax preparation software and see what I could do on my own.
Yes, it took an entire Saturday morning to enter the information and a couple of other days to update the information when amended forms came in.
However, I got the entire federal and state returns done, printed out, and mailed for less than $60 (not counting what I owed, of course). I can't see ever going back to H&R again. My return at one time really required an expert to do it since I was living in one state and working in another. Now, I think I should be able to handle it myself with the aid of the computer.
I had all kinds of problems with them. Then it turned out I was actually taking my taxes to H.R. Pufnstuf by mistake. Talk about inane!
Oh that was int 40s and 50s, like Whatshisname and the Pennsylvanians I guess....
And notice that I've made no mention of the great adult film musical KEYSTER PARADE. So I do show some restraint.
And they did show some restraints in that film, IIRC.
Dignity, always dignity.
What else can we dig? ;)
Coincidently I recorded "Yes We Have No Bananas" for my fruiterer yesterday.
"Bananas" was supposedly heard by US troops from a Greek Fruit seller in the Philippines and "manufactured" into a song..
Thus I blame Jose.
-
When I was watching "Caligula" the other night I thought the Director was Ken Russell on "speed".
Excess was indeed excessive.
Ken Russell meets Jim Steinman!
Anna Russell sings?
I spent part of the night stuffing eggs for and easter egg hunt. I felt like Hetty the hen!
Yes, in Caligula!! ???
Ken was responsible for plenty of excessive moviess, but I don't think CALIGULA was one of them. Or are you saying that the movie CALIGULA just looks like Ken Russell directed it on speed? I'm sure drugs were in no short supply on the set of that film.
Mr Russell certainly did not direct Caligula. I'm not that anyone did. It was a "home movie" from "Penthouse".
Anyone else need a Bloody Mary?
-
Just came back from a screening of BRICK. I did NOT like it. At all. Had it not been a WGA screening I would have left.
The best part of the evening was having a post-movie bowl of Matzoh Ball Soup at Jerry's in Beverly Hills. One of my friends had Potato Skins which i tasted and were also yummy.
Have I mentioned that I did NOT like the movie?
I decided to try a new route home and took the Freeway - which is quite a bit out of the way - but turned out to be faster than taking the canyon.
As for the movie... I did NOT like it.
-
No, but we're now hearing from Bloody Maria! ;)
Aside from that, Maria, how was the movie?
Yikes. It's after 12:30.
Good night, all.
As some may remember my experience when I got Hildy the dog last year was not so good...I was so alergic to her...but I knew there must be some dog out there that I could tolerate...well this week I happened to be driving by the Humane Society on my way home from the gym...decided to stop in...there amongst the multitude of beagles, black labs, and rottweiler mixes, was an quite, serene, German Shepard mix who caught my eye...I stopped to pet him and looked at his bio...he was a stray, well behaved and 6 years old...hmmmm, I thought to myself...I decided to visite with him in the visitation room just to kill time and fell head over heals!
I wasn't sure if I would end up being allergic to him but when I left that night (after putting a hold on him just in case) I seemed to be fine (although my allergies had been acting up all week because of the spring blooms...I thought about it long and hard for 24 hours and as I was leaving work the next day I just decided to take another chance...and I am sooooo glad I did...not only do I not seem to be having any major allergy problems around him, he also barely even sheds!!!!! Even when I try to pull hair out...nothing!
My Bosco! (winking at the camera! )
I'm starting to get my Emmy voting DVD's and today I received an HBO treasure trove in the mail... Including the Helen Mirren/Jeremy Irons Elizabeth I mini-series which hasn't aired yet. And THE GIRL IN THE CAFE - which I'm happy to now own. And the Rosie cruise documentary which was - surprisingly - very very good. And a whole bunch of other excellent things. Each day now I get boxes of stuff. Last week some DVDs of the new EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS sitcom arrived. The box was shaped like a milk carton with the kid's face on it. Last year some of the boxes made noises or played music when you opened them. Almost gave me a heart-attack. If you want my vote, don't scare me!
-
LOL FLJ...actually named after Bosco chocolate!
-
Congrats on Bosco, MBarnum! My sweet Abie is also a Shepherd mix and is the best dog in the world (for me).
-
In case anyone is interested (Tomovoz) thAT first hairy beast photo is of one of my interviewees...you can see much more of him in the 1958 made in Florida feature film THE WILD WOMEN OF WONGO!
-
Abie.
-
Thanks Maria! Bosco is such a mild mannered creature...sometimes I hardly know he is even around! And Freddy seems to not mind his him at all.
And thanks to JRand for the inspiration!
-
It has been a loooong time since we have seen a photo of Abie! What a cutie!
-
So which of the hairy Beasts did you attempt to pull hairs from DR MBarnum?
Perhaps with Easter here that should be hares.
-
Perhaps Blue Moon, Wonderdog Abie and Boscoe shall become internet buddies.
-
Thanks, MBarnum. He brings tremendous joy into my life. A wonderful companion.
Good idea, Tom! Abie's nom-de-HHW could be Rin-Tin-Tin.
Night, all. I'm going to do some reading. And work on trying to forget that movie. Have I mentioned I didn't like it?
~~~Vibes All Around!!~~~
And if you wouldn't mind sending a few my way. I've developed a cold...again! I don't think I got more than an hours sleep last night. :P Tomorrow is Easter and Monday is my niece's 22nd birthday. She's going to celebrate with her father's side of the family tomorrow after Easter and her mother's side (my sister) on Monday...her actual birthday. And at work, on Wednesday is the monthly cut-off to pay all the invoices for the past month and I can't call in sick because it has to be done and a couple of months ago (I think) I had had a cold and called in sick on the cut-off and I don't want to do that again, if I can avoid it. So, please send me some vibes. Thanks. :)
-
Vibes winging their way DR George.
-
I went to work today and got some stuff done, so that'll help (being sick at work when no one else is around is the way to go). After I came home, I watched some TV (Wednesday's "Lost") and a DVD that I just got today from amazon.co.uk, Our House - A Musical Love Story - The Madness Musical (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002W0Z5Q/qid=1145170335/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_10_1/203-6393373-3337501). I only know a couple of songs by Madness, so I didn't have to get over songs being performed in ways that I wasn't used to. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's the story of a guy and what would happen if he took two different paths through life. It's practically wall to wall music and very high energy and (in my opinion), quite good. ;D
-
Vibes winging their way DR George.
Thank you!
-
The best part about the Madness DVD is that right now it's £17.99 (about $32, without shipping), but when I ordered it, it was only £5.08! Talk about a bargain! :D
