I love Philly. I haven't been for a few years but it's a great tourist town.

The chimi looks really good, but what are tostones?

Tostones are twice-fried green plantains.  The plantains are sliced then deep-fried for a couple of minutes.  They are then removed from the hot oil and allowed to cool a bit.  They are then smashed flat, and then fried again to crisp them up.

DR Jane - I just hope the weather isn't too hazy on Tuesday.  -And I also hope that I actually do make the trip. ;)

I made it into the city on Wednesday.  It was hot & humid & my friend found it very annoying I was enjoying the warm day.  Craig met us at the Farmers Market (I purchased shoo fly pie & a heath bar chip cookie, my friend got a pretzel filled with egg & cheese) next to the train station & we all walked around before heading to his apartment to visit with Ioana awhile.  Ioana stayed home while we took Yogi for a walk.  Yogi looked very cute in the Phillies bandanna I found him on Monday.  Craig said he had been wanting one so we were all happy.  Yogi preferred the treats that came with the bandanna.

You would like the pretzel place with the different fillings.

TCB, glad to hear about your cruise. I would love to take one with Anthony. I have to find a time when we are both not busy. Unfortunately, it's difficult (and expensive) to take the QE or the QM roundtrip. Difficult in the scheduling, that is. Oh, well. Maybe when I retire (in 15 years).

That sounds like a very fun and exciting cruise, TCB. I hope you take a camera!

Thank you Ginny, Jane, and Laura.  Yes, I bought a new camera, but unfortunately it will have the same inept camera operator.

DR TCB - One of the greatest benefits of digital photography is that it allows you to "practice", and you can see the results of that "practice" right away.  -You don't have to wait for a roll of film to come back from the photo lab.

Just keep taking photos.  Keep the ones you like, delete the ones you don't.  No paper wasted, no money spent.  You live in a very scenic part of the country, and I'm sure you could hone your photography skills between now and November.

Okay, Jose, but don't laugh at me if the Tower of Pisa is not leaning.

Well, there is the Mary 2 and the Victoria, with a new Elizabeth due next year.  Cunard often offers cruises to England that include return air.

Today DR Samantha and her DBF Chris moved to Iowa City.  It's her first time leaving home and she was very emotional when her parents left.   I just called her and she's doing a bit better, but feels like a fish out of water.

Good Evening!

Well... I wanted to take a walk. I needed to eat. So, that's what I did.

I should have taken a picture of my dinner: oatmeal.

Maybe Samantha should come visit here, and she wouldn't feel so lonely.

TCB - :)

I think she'll love it. She's registered for college at a community college where she'll do her general requirements and Chris is registered at the U of I  in engineering with an emphasis in wind.   They are close to downtown and close to campus.  Iowa City is a cool place.  I think after they get out and about she'll be happy

On the final episode of Lost, Season Four (well, the last half of the two-parter) - but now I have a craving for sweet potato fries, which I found out are very calorie friendly, and even the fat grams aren't too bad.

My family visited the cemetery today.  Kaddish was said several times and people were remembered, and gravestones were cleaned because a cemetery's so-called perpetual care is not enough.

That is nice DR FJL.  We need to plan a trip to L.A.  The seventeenth is the first anniversary of Keith's mother's passing.  We kind of missed the date on the Jewish calendar.  Her cousin wrote to say she lit the candle & said Kaddish.  We, or I, will do something on the 17th.

I'm going to see it tomorrow with my friend Hal!
