Grrrrrr...

For the second time, I've accidently learned who got eliminated on THE AMAZIN' RACE just by looking at the Comcast.net home page.

Grrrrrrrrr...

Speaking of which (and heaven forfend this is a spoiler, since it must have happened at least a week ago):  how did he injure his knee?  I must have missed that.

Loving all these jokes.  We need a whole separate forum just for these, so that we can access them anytime we need a laugh.

I think the knee injury was an old injury coming back to haunt him....didn't originate with TAR.

Speaking of plumbers, there are two things not working correctly at the new house:  the guest bath on the main floor has a toilet whose flap doesn't want to close.   Also the freezer's ice maker is not making ice.  We had discovered both of these during inspection and had been assured both had been fixed.  Not.  Luckily, we got one of those home warranties so after we're moved in I just have to call them and they come out and fix it (for a modest service fee).

POSSIBLE TAR SPOILER ALERT:

The look on "the Iraq"'s girl's face when Phil alerted them to their error near the end of the show was priceless.  :)

I hope they don't confuse the jobs.

It's interesting that Miss Iraq and her boyfriend stopped to buy a map.

Even more interesting that it failed to help them one iota.  ;)

Mr Pan was in charge of Ms Rogers when she was at RKO, and so he knew first hand about the challenge of teaching her dancing.

All CDs were shipped by me alone as Cason couldn't come today.  He'll be here in the morning to deal with the overseas dealers orders and then he'll get to stand in line at the post office.  I still have to ship out a huge number of boxes to my big online dealer and am filling out those forms now.  After that, I'll finish the second go-round on the search for errant em dashes and bad breaks.  There are hundreds of em dashes to fix.

Lost an actor for the long musical - we'll have to replace him obviously.

Best news of the morning was getting blurb number one for the new book, from Rupert Holmes.  Here it is - I could not be happier:

Bruce Kimmel takes you into his confidence (and into his heart) as your first-person tour guide on the thrill ride of his acting career, with several of this planet's most ridiculous and unimaginable decades as backdrop for his story. His careening and caroming adventures move at a breath-taking pace and, as ever, Kimmel's endearing, self-effacing tone evokes Saroyan and Salinger, even as his book is populated with more familiar names than a fruitcake has raisins. Daft, deft, constantly touching and ultimately moving, our hero's effort to find his life, his love, and his "light" makes for a rare showbiz story that trades in tinsel and glitter for tenderness and hope.

Before I left to go to lunch, I had time to get a couple of things watched. I started with last Friday's AS THE WORLD TURNS which was only broadcast here very early this morning. Dr. Pill comes out to Luke and has additional snarky comments to make to him on his way out of town. I'm going to find it very interesting indeed when the feelings begin to mellow out in him once he admits his attraction and begins treating him differently. Should be fun to see.

This was kept as a VERY big secret during her lifetime obviously since the public recital of their time together is always peppered with exuberant praise for Ginger for having to learn the same dances backwards and in heels.

Then I watched last night's BROTHERS & SISTERS. Can't imagine what this BIG secret is between Nora and the jerk (unless he's the father of one of her brood). Luc is always beautiful to look at. Angst continues for Scotty and Kevin as they're BOTH out of work now. Oy!

When I got in from lunch, I went ahead and watched the bonus features disc from the Costa set. There was a select audio commentary of five scenes from COLOSSAL YOUTH by two French film critics who just swooned with praise over the film. They both spoke in English, but one of them used the phrase "you know" about four times per sentence, and since the commentary lasted 38 minutes, well, it was trying to say the least!

There was a documentary shot during the production of COLOSSAL YOUTH that showed the director at work and also looking back on the other two films in the trilogy (with AMPLE film clips - which I fast forwarded through since I JUST saw the films). This documentary lasted 80 minutes!

There were two short films which averaged about 20 minutes apiece. Funny thing is that some footage from the first was also used in the second with different actors and with a different theme. Another of the dirctor's odd motifs?

And then there were outtakes from the last two films organized by "exteriors" and interiors" and placed side-by-side that ran 35 minutes. Oy!

I had time to skim through the soaps. AS THE WORLD TURNS had nothing of interest. Luke and Noah were in the previews for tomorrow.

Kyle and Oliver were in ONE LIFE TO LIVE with not much advance in plotting but just the seeds planted to get Oliver thinking about what's best for his (possible) daughter.

When I go back down, I'll be watching THE UGLY TRUTH with Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler that I recorded off Starz-HD. I like both of them so I'm looking forward to seeing this romantic comedy.

Shakespeare was walking the streets of London when he momentarily caught his cloak on a passing peddlar's cart.  He was worried he might have snagged a hole in it.  He encountered Ben Jonson at that moment and asked his fellow playwright to check  the back of his cloak and see if it had any tears.  Jonson inspected the cloak and replied, "No holes, Bard."

I'm sorry, but I have no choice but to offer this universal

G R O A N

on behalf of everyone who may get comfort in the
knowledge that someone else has done it for them.

(Inspired by DR CPogue's "no holes, Bard" punch line which,
I'm certain,  will be surpassed by day's end.)

Yes, I resisted the temptation on that one.

 ;D

Guys, guys!  The pun is the highest form of humour!

Maybe they always meant that her dancing was backwards.

I'm hopping off-line now to finish up the review (yah! Hoo-rah! cheers!) of the Criterion set, and then I'll head down for some leisure viewing pleasure this evening.

This morning I went birding with my friend Phyllis. Our best birds were western bluebirds, black-throated sparrows, and a marsh wren.
