It looks like Lupone's Gypsy may get recorded.

We'll have to pre-order a copy for DR Tomovoz.   ;)

I have the entire recording of her last effort as Rose.  HER VOICE IS HARD ON THE EARS.  I've tried to find something to like, I realy have. She has no sense of the subtle and is so strident.  She is not Mama Rose.  She is Mama Patti.  Just as she was not Nellie in Sweeney - she was Patti.  At least in Candide they acknowledged the fact that she was not the Old Woman - just Patti.

BK just mentioned having to get a smog check. I just got the requisite safety check on my car last week (they checked the car, but not the driver). I'm often amazed at how much of my time is spent doing little things like this.

And where's the REST of the story?  Hummm...

Well naturally, I did what any rational person would do...

I slashed their tires and smashed their front windshield.

And then I meekly slunk [slank?] away and parked, inconveniently, a block and a half away.    :-\

(they checked the car, but not the driver).

That was their first mistake.

But seriously...

You are quite right, DR Jeanne.  There are so many annoying but necessary errands and administrative details which consume so much of our disposable time.

It takes less effort to simply pull a valve stem or two; I used to carry a stem-puller on my key chain for such emergencies.

Tomorrow at 8 AM JJ will be delivered to the local Pet Supply Store where he will meet up with an agent from "Just Us Animal Rescue" who will transport him to a shelter in Maryland where he will be fixed and then paraded to various suburban Petsmart stores for adoption. They assured me that if they can not place him a a good home, he will be returned to us.

I am going to miss the updates and photos of JJ! But I suspect he will have found a new home in no time at all!

I began my afternoon with last night's OLD CHRISTINE.  A few bright lines, but the writers certainly didn't get much action out of her involvement with Mr. Harris (Blair Underwood).

Next, I watched, courtesy of DR MBarnum, MY BROTHER MIKHAIL. A touching AIDS story, reminiscent in parts of PHILADELPHIA and AN EARLY FROST. I wanted to throttle both of those parents, but they did eventually come around. And it did make me weep in several places.

A couple of questions, DR MBarnum:

Is it customary for actors in Bollywood movies to speak a mixture of (I assume) Hindi and English? I was expecting to fully need subtitles, but the language is this quaint mixture.

Are those the actors who are singing or are the voices dubbed by professional vocalists?

Certainly there were some nice ballads inserted into this very sad story.

Big power failures occurring in South Florida this afternoon: eight power plants seem to be out.  Any word about DRs Danise and Michael Shayne?

Oh, MY!  Dr. Michael Shayne may have to contend with SPOILERS in his refrigerator!

Oh, and I hadn't seen Victor Bannerjee in anything since A PASSAGE TO INDIA, so it was nice seeing him again albeit much older.

Did you keep expecting him to shout, "Mrs. Moore!"?

I finished up my afternoon viewing with NOTES ON A SCANDAL which I had recorded off HBO-HD. I didn't quite get to the end of it. There are still about 20 minutes left, so I'll finsh it when I go back down.

Depending on the time, I selected BLADE RUNNER to watch on Blu-ray tonight before I skim through IDOL.

DR George - Yes, it was/is the same Ryan Raftery, although I'm not sure his "true comedic talent" was truly on display when he was standing on top of his bar stool singing along to and re-enacting "Defying Gravity" and "Don't Rain On My Parade".  ;)

I would've liked to have seen that. :D
