If you have a friend who is a lawyer, you might consider having some sort of "cease and desist" order issued to various tenants about their coming to you about this bed bug business.

This is clearly NOT your fault and they need to understand that any infestation THEY may encounter will have derived from a source similar to the one that caused yours.  It's a building management issue and it needs to be removed from your shoulders immediately, even if legal action is necessary.

Your neighbors are shit-heels and don't deserve any further consideration from you.

What he said!

No word from my beloved Charlotte, so I guess it's dinner with Val instead.

Good Evening!

...Or I could just stay here in the apartment and cook... Brown Rice... Roasted Carrots and Fennel... Hot Italian Turkey Sausages simmered along with a nice Puttanesca Sauce...  Sort of a hodgepodge, but I can mix and match as I make other meals throughout the week.  In any case... Yum! :)

It looks like Lupone's Gypsy may get recorded.

We'll have to pre-order a copy for DR Tomovoz.   ;)

:D :D :D

Now, a legitimate copy! ;)

Give JJ a scratch behind the ears and tell him you never want to see him again.

This is a good time to send him for adoption. He is young and very friendly, and there are no kittens for competition. I suspect he will put on a good affectionate show and get adopted very quickly. He's one of the lucky ones!

Next, I watched, courtesy of DR MBarnum, MY BROTHER MIKHAIL. A touching AIDS story, reminiscent in parts of PHILADELPHIA and AN EARLY FROST. I wanted to throttle both of those parents, but they did eventually come around. And it did make me weep in several places.

A couple of questions, DR MBarnum:

Is it customary for actors in Bollywood movies to speak a mixture of (I assume) Hindi and English? I was expecting to fully need subtitles, but the language is this quaint mixture.

Are those the actors who are singing or are the voices dubbed by professional vocalists?

Certainly there were some nice ballads inserted into this very sad story.

It is quite common for them to speak "Hinglish", as it is sometimes referred to. Most everyone in India who is educated can speak English and it would seem to be popular to mix in a bit of English with your Hindi...sort of how some English speakers will mix in French phrases.

The actors are usually only lip syncing to the songs, it is not there own voice...although there are a handful of actors who do sing, but very few.

And of course there is a wonderful CD soundtrack to MY BROTHER NIKHIL.

Glad you got to watch your first Bollywood MattH...and I hope you get to the other DVD someday soon...it is the one with the song and dance numbers like out of a Busby Berkley musical (plus one the guys is super hot!!)

You could send him some of your tear sheets (or, if that term means nothing to you, "clippings" of your previous stories) and tell him you'd love to do a story on him for U.S. Bollywood fans.  Perhaps he'd offer to spend a bit of time with you.

OH... And back to Oscar Night... Well, after the Oscar Ceremony...

Did anyone else catch the new video that Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Affleck put together with all those guest stars (Harrison Ford and Josh Groban among others)?  Truly one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.  -Yes, it's a bit creepy and crude at times, but, still, I was most definitely laughing out loud.  I shall refrain from posting a link here, but I'm sure it could be found by entering the appropriate search engine terms.  ;D

Last night I watched a film on DVD entitled The Fan, starring Lauren Bacall and James Garner from 1981.  Not a great film, but the kitsch factor was fun.  Features a few songs by Marvin Hamlisch and Tim Rice.

"I wanted hearts, not diamonds," she breathily sang.
