Title: SHOWS FIVE AND SIX AND EPISODE THREE OF OUTSIDE THE BOX
Post by: bk on December 04, 2011, 01:09:54 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes talked of five, six, and three, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently watching episode three of Outside The Box and they suggest you do the same.

Well, I'll only be back on Friday, and I think I'll be down in Santa Monica all day. -Then I'll be flying back Saturday morning, so...

If you want to go to Musso & Frank or Hugo's tomorrow night/tonight or Monday....

I'm hoping to get some laundry and organizing done in the morning - a.k.a. a few hours from now - and then spend a good chunk of the day playing tourist. I have yet to make it to Hollywood this trip.

Last night's office Christmas party featured a fun performance by Huey Lewis and the News. Hadn't seen them in 22 years or so. They were a little slower and the tempi were much slower, but it was still enjoyable, if not high energy.

Back from our final performance and we could not have asked to go out with a better one.  Great full house, responsive as all get out, lots o' laughs and cheers (genuine, not the bs kind) and the cast did great.  Everyone was very happy.  We all then convened at Genghis Cohen and ate a LOT of food.

Good morning, all! Congrats to everyone for a successful LACC production!

I've been up for about an hour now; I had a phone call from Bruce Pomahac, who was up at 6:30 this morning to listen to EILEEN again and look at the vocal score. He's quite mad for it. I should hire him to do our publicity.

Today, I have work on the DEAREST ENEMY vocal score; it was begun in summer 2002, after the VLOG performances, and it's been through its first pass.  The R&H employee working on it was reassigned to the new version of FLOWER DRUM SONG, and DEAREST ENEMY got shelved. I'm proofreading the vocal score against the full scores so it can be completed.

That's my day.

More coffee!

Here is the poster from a musical I wrote the book for 18 years ago. It would have been better if the director would have taken our rewrites. But that would have meant reduced stage time for Lysistrata and making some other characters stronger. The director was sleeping with the actress playing the title character and he vetoed it.

I'm up, it's a pretty day, and I'm happy to read the nice comments about episode three.  Behind the scenes: The dog was the happiest of accidents - normally I like to have two people in the opening scene - it gives us something to cut to and gives the scenes rhythm.  So, I'd written Glen, Jason's boyfriend, into it, but he goes away very quickly (I wrote these before discovering that having two people or more was going to be necessary).  I saw the dog sitting on that little outdoor settee and I do what I often do with dogs - I made a little high-pitched squeal and Roy cocked his head just as all dogs do.  I grabbed the camera gal and said shoot this - and we got Roy to do it five or six times and we had our cutaways.

We took my mother to the San Diego zoo for her 80th birthday to see the Panda Bears.  She loved it.  What we learned is they don't move much so find out when feeding time is & get there early to beat the crowds.

Good to know that you and your mother have seen pandas at San Diego. They're lovely creatures.  Chi Chi was a famous giant panda who I saw at London Zoo many times until her death in 1972. She attracted huge crowds and it was a very sad day when she passed away. She is on display in one of the London museums.

It's Tom's daughter's 22nd birthday.  Do you know how hard it is to buy something for a 22 year old these days.   Really really difficult, I know gift cards are popular but, I like to buy something tangable.   Settled on a sweater in her favorite color from the younger hipper section at the store.    I like things like silk and cashmere which are not washable, so I thought better about that.

Football, barbecue, and birthday cake.  Should be a nice evening.  8)

bk - Please note: I was thinking of ordering box set 5 of the Bruno Cremer Maigret series but I see that there are comments on Amazon.fr pointing out that only 2 of the 10 discs in that box set have English subtitles - unlike box sets 1 - 4 which all have English sub-titles. I don't know about you but that makes box set 5 unattractive to me being a non-French language speaker.

The two giant pandas Tian Tian and Yang Guang (Sweetie and Sunshine) have just landed at Edinburgh airport from China.

Years ago, I went to the London Zoo to see the pandas.  It was a very warm spring day, and the pandas were sound asleep.  I walked back by several times during my visit, and they never moved.  So. my only memory of the pandas was their ass rear ends.

Even when motivated by food to move they appeared to be moving in slow motion.

Something is seriously screwy with You Tube - everyone has shared episode three on Facebook - much more so than the others, and yet we only have 158 views.  Not possible.

Should we all watch it again?

If there were two of them you must have seen Chi Chi with An An, a visitor from Moscow zoo - one of the male pandas which they tried (unsuccessfully) to get her to mate with.

I think that is correct.  They never did introduce themselves, but, then again, I didn't introduce myself either.

I suppose I should start thinking about putting up something Christmas-wise.  I don't know if the apartment complex is having a Balcony Decorating Contest this year, but I think I may decorate the balcony either way.  My friend Cynthia has offered to come over and help me decorate.

I have these giant candy canes from last year that have been living behind the entertainment center all year, not to mention this really cool star.  I just have to be careful that nothing gets in the way of my satellite dish.

That stuff has always made me very ill, plus I'm on medication for GERD & probably shouldn't mix them.  This is something I just get sometimes & compared to other bouts it isn't bad.  At least I'm functioning.

It is very difficult, at least for me, to get photos of the cute head cock.  The dog was a perfect addition to this episode.

I was so sick on Friday and the constant retching (sorry for the image) made me almost lose my voice. Hardly any sound came out. It's gotten better these past two days as I've kept my big mouth shut. Right now I think I'm a basso profondo with a rasp to it. I have one more day off so I am choping I can get back to my "regular tenor" voice. Yikes!!!
