Deb/Vixmom, I think Dan-the-Man was talking about the disaster movie which was on CBS. West Wing is on NBC, but the Hurricane flew over to CBS.

The VARIETY review for JERSEY BOYS was definitely mixed. The critic admitted that the audience seemed to be having a fine time with the familiar tunes, but he didn't like the book, and the staging left something to be desired, too. For every positive thing he had to say about the show, he found at least one to two negative things to point out.

I made a conscious decision to move 40 miles away from my family's home once I had saved enough money to be able to rent an apartment, buy furniture, and not have to eat soap three meals a day. I loved my family, but it was very important for me to have privacy, and in the town where they lived (and where I lived with them after college while working on my master's degree), I would have had NO privacy at all.

Also, the arts scene was a thousand times more variable here than in that town.

I'd dare say one could make the exact same statement of about 99.99% of the shows that have opened on Broadway in the last 20 years. Many of the critics - myself included - went in wanting to hate JERSEY BOYS because it's another jukebox musical. I have to admit, there really wasn't that much not to like. The cast is wonderful, the staging is more than adequate, the book is what it is, and the choreography was great. That being said, there were many things "wrong" with the show, too.

I will say, I think the show wouldn't be half as successful without Mr. Young playing Mr. Valli. He's a true discovery.

I watched DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES this afternoon and enjoyed it though I wasn't quite as bowled over as some others have been. It was fine, entertaining, and my goodness this show has the best looking men on it! (And we didn't even see Richard Burgi or Alfre's son this week.)

Well, of course, you've had the great good fortune to have seen it. I haven't and probably won't see it if it's still playing next summer when I hope to return to the city.

Next up was ROME which has upped the intrigue mightily in the last week or two, but it's condensed ROman history too much for my taste. Yes, we can jump forward years at a time in Caesar's story, but we have two fictional characters (Vorenus and Pullo) whose stories don't seem to have jumped but are progressing pretty much in real time. Very weird continuity for me.

Watched the season finale of EXTRAS last night with Patrick Stewart guest starring. He was really a good sport portraying himself as a kind of dim bulb who only can write scripts where actresses' clothes keep falling off.

Stephen Merchant, who is Ricky Gervais' writing and business partner and who plays his blundering agent on the show, steals every scene he's in.

And then I watched last week's episode of THE OFFICE. It was worth the wait, an absolutely hilarious episode. These characters have really grown on me as much as any series currently on TV. And it seems to be picking up in the ratings, too. Good show.

I had a feeling that you would be disappointed after reading all the glowing reviews.  If you had not been expecting anything, you probably would have liked it more. :(

beautiful baby DR Jennifer!!

I am quite smitten with her.

I have found the key to visitation is to bring dinner to her mom and dad! (my sis and brother-in-law). :)

It's not a SPELL....but Grapefruit Seed Extract (just a drop or two) maybe mixed with a little aloe will help cure that cold sore.

Plain yogurt with live cultures will also stimulate the immune system and help PREVENT cold sores.

And DRJASON you MUST buy a new toothbrush.

I know another way to help prevent cold sores, but...well...being a Christian woman, I can't say it!

And already I've been through 2 toothbrushes. I bought another 3-pack last night.

I used to get these sores all the time when I was a kid. I sometimes had them so badly that they would start on my upper lip and work their way up inside my nostril. I spent a good deal of my youth looking like I had big, crusty boogers on my upper lip. And I think every school picture I had taken from 1st through 11th grade featured a cold sore or two.  Ah, such an attractive lad was I.  ::)

Come to think of it...my photographer even had to airbrush out a cold sore in my first set of headshots!!

DR vixmom - ;)

Well, I did get all the toys picked up - trains and train tracks (those wooden modular ones), three decks of playing cards(?), Boggle, Rummy-O, a play shopping cart, assorted cars and various other plastic vehicles...  And that was just the stuff in the living room!  But at least I can walk around now without having to take a bunch of "detours".

Bought the SUPERMAN FIRST SEASON DVD set today at Walmart.

The descriptions of Episodes 14 & 16 seem to have been switched under their titles on the box describing Disc 3.
