DR TCB - So glad you made it to the HHW Reunion! :)
And so sorry to hear about the return of the MRSA. :(
DR Ben - a new laptop!! Hoo and Ray!! :) It will be nice to keep in touch with Ant that way while he's away.

CONGRATULATIONS to DR Samantha! :D
DR Adriana Patti, great photos of The Dome! :) Glad you had fun at the movie.

DR George - thanks for the report of the HHW Reunion and the photos. Sorry you didn't get a few of the people...maybe on Saturday?

I am also glad to hear that Ant will have a laptop computer while he's away. Maybe he'll even check in here at HHW!

Hey there, DR Edisaurus! And I forgot to thank you for your behind the scenes updates on our favorite TV programme! :)
-
I was up because I'd hoped to read a story in the paper relating to information about the latest illegal activities perpetrated by our chinchy bassa developer. I guess they're still working on gathering all the information and fact-checking. The developer apparently thinks he's above the law, and so far, the city has agreed with him, since he's best buddies with the mayor and the powerful concilman who owns downtown.
Hopefully not this time...

There's some funny scenes regarding Brenda and Fritz. And we get a little peek into their bedroom, too---hehehe!

DR Edisaurus - what a fun video clip! Thanks :)
One thing I love is that for the opening scene of the dance number (not to put any editors out of work!) is that it's all one shot. So all of the dancers, camera moves, etc. had to be perfectly timed and choreographed to work. It is really well done!

Today is a rainy work day. Oh well.
-
Morning all. I'm at work on a desktop after my exciting foray into laptop posting last night.
I have a full day at work. For the first time since I began working here we don't get an official half-day off for the start of the Memorial Day weekend. Well, I fixed them. Since I come in early anyway, I started work early and I get to leave early. At 2:30. It's not noon but it's better than 4pm. At 2:30 I will get myself to Penn Station and take the 3:05 train to Ronkonama for the long weekend.
I have a meeting from 10-12. Ugh, ugh, ugh!!!
I'm taping our usual Friday night Britcoms and we will watch them at a later date. I have to install some programs on Anthony's mother's computer and we will also see friends and relax. Anthony will stay on Long Island for the week to take care of various and sundried duties of sondom and grandsondom while I return to the city sometime on Monday. That means I get a whole week to play with the laptop. I also have to finish loading it up so it's ready to go to Wisconsin. Then when Anthony returns he needs to play with it so he's comfortable using it. Although once he gets used to a device he's Ok, he's initially wary of working with new electronics (hence my decision to buy the laptop and get it ready for him to take to Wisconsin). After two months of using the laptop I think he'll be fine. He's a hunt and peck typist anyway so getting used to the keyboard won't be as much of a hassle for him. I'm an old school typist (learned in 11th grade on a manual typewriter) and I find laptop keyboards difficult to use sometimes.
As for him checking in here, somehow I doubt it. He's one of the group of Partners Who Don't Post. He likes hearing about it but doesn't want to post about it. But at least he will be able to keep in touch with the world through e-mail.
-
The weather in New York is finally starting to look good. By Monday it is supposed to be 80 degrees.
-
I'm not listening to anything now and I doubt I will listen to anything during the day. I wish I could listen to something other than droning during the 2 hour meeting.
-
And now, Ladies and Germs, welcome to Page 2
-
And now, I really must be going.

I'm up, I am getting ready for work, and I am trying to figure out how to put a new bandage on my wound, The cats are not even helping, they are sleeping!

Friday morning greetings! The best thing about my information-waitressing day is that, when it's over, I'll go into a 4-day weekend. Three of those 4 days will be filled with family and friends and, from what I heard on the radio, glorious weather.
TOD - CD(car) - audiobook, Elizabeth Berg's Dream While You're Feeling Blue, read by the author. It's a story about 3 Chicago sisters during WWII - I'm not even through the second disc and already I've cried and laughed out loud. Authors aren't always the best narrators, but Elizabeth does a beautiful job. I've seen her in person a couple of times, including when she was on the book tour for this title. She even dressed in '40s style and had big band music playing before and after her presentation.

Very disappointed to read in today's TV schedules: originally CBS was going to rerun a MOONLIGHT episode at 9 p.m., but apparently, they've taken it off the air and will now show two GHOST WHISPERER reruns back-to-back.
I guess MOONLIGHT is now gone forever from CBS. (I'm just waiting for a DVD set announcement.)

I did something so stupid on wednesday night that i forgot to write about.
I brought a ham over to my sister's house to cook in the oven for my niece. I have a baking pan that rests in a ruttan (sp?) basket.
Anyhow i was in such a rush that i put the basket in the oven! :(
Obviously we would have noticed right away. But we all went upstairs to change my niece's diaper. And when we came down 5 minutes later the smell was bad.
Well it was bad for me cause my eyes are so sensitive and were burning.
luckily it had only been 5 minutes. And she has an air purifier. So we opened the windows and turned on the oven fan. And the smell was completely gone in less than an hour.
But i was so mortified i did that!

Jo and I went antiquing, and then we stopped at a nice diner for lunch. My brother Randy called us while we were out and about because my dad's wonderful girlfriend Lucille was unable to find his gravesite in the cemetary and Randy wanted me to meet her there. So I drove back into town to find thecemetary completely screwed up with blocked off roads to keep the traffic one-way for all the comings and goings of Memorial Day. I finally found the grave and called Lucille, who was being led to the site by a cemetary worker. We finally met and I helped her decorate my dad's grave with a veteran flag.
It was great to see her; she looked fantastic, and we visited and had a good cry together. She headed home and Iwent off to a florist to buy some flowers for the grave of my highschool friend Sam Lato, who died in a car accident his first year of college. I had stopped by Sam's grave yesterday; he's buried with his parents, and I don't think anyone visits it. So I took the flowers back to the cemetary and decorated Sam's grave.
While I was out, Jo took over my MySpace pages and decked them all out in splendor. What a great sistere-in-law!

Some thought on the Notes:
If the Oil Companies were so all-powerful we would be building more refineries and drilling for oil off the coast of CA, FLA, and in ANWR. (Meanwhile China will soon be tapping oil as close as 50 miles off of the Florida Coast thanks to a deal with Castro)
If we impose a punitive profits tax on big oil, one or more of the following would happen:
A. The price of gasoline would rise even more to collect the added costs.
B. The oil companies would stop investing all their profits dollars in R&D and exploration-guaranteeing even more dependence on foreign oil.
C. The oil companies could discontinue their dividends, causing their stocks to tumble, resulting in massive drops in value to pension funds and probably igniting a much deeper and more sustained recession.
There is nothing "unseemly" about the country's largest corporation continuing to post historical sales and the resulting historical profits.
Far from rebelling the nation's motorists are taking to the highways in almost record numbers this week-end.
And as "profiteers" go, I suspect Evening Primrose will earn its publisher a heck of a bigger return in profit/sales than big oil gets.

Our ever-industrious postal delivery team is at it again.
The truck broke down a bit down the hill, so the carrier, a substitute of the delicate female persuasion, came trudging up the hill and down our drive lugging the 20+ lb box of cookbooks from Jessica's Biscuit.
After the rather cumbersome exchange at the doorway (tough to get boxes in while keeping dogges in) I thought all was well; unfortunately, the door did not completely latch, so soon we had four streakers heading out the door and down the hill. I put on shoes, grabbed a leash and headed out. Well, it seems the most interesting thing was the disabled mailtruck and. I suspect, a most concerned driver, waiting on the road for her supervisor. When I called, all but Fletcher (who of course couldn't hear) came dashing back - but when I suggested "house" they said, nope- "car". I put the three of them in the car - and meanwhile Fletcher had decided to wander up the hill toward the highway to explore. So we drove up until I spotted him, got out, hooked him to a leash and put him in the car. Since it was now 3:30 and Woody was due to get off, I drove up to the store to pick him up. I dashed in, leaving the dogs in the car, and he was still a-checking.
"Didn't you get my message?", he inquired. Seems they're extending him 'til 6:30 (an 11 hour day, and over 52 hours for the week!) Am I on the hook to buy dinner tonight?

On return from the store and the fuss and bother of getting the dogs inside (Buster tried to make a run for it and was most ditressed when I caugh his tail and would not let go!) I barely got settled when there was a crash outside - a car visiting the house across the street had backed into my mailbox; the guy driving assured me he would get me a replacement (sure you will!). I said OK, and left it go at that.
30 minutes later there was knock on the door, and the guy presented me with a brand new mail-box!

We have had a good day at World of Wisdom, but most of it was done in about 90 minutes.....not much in the way of commissions so far.

I began my afternoon by watching last night's SUPERNATURAL rerun while I cooked and ate lunch. I had seen the show before, but it was SUCH a good episode (Dean and Sam fighting the seven deadly sin demons) that I enjoyed it thoroughly seeing it again.

Then I started on the first of the TV box sets: THE FUGITIVE, Season 2. I loved this show when I was a teenager (yes, I had a BIG crush on David Janssen), and it holds up beautifully now.
The first episode had Ed Begley as the principal guest star, a former star lawyer put out to pasture teaching law who wanted to get back in a court retrying Kimble's case to win it for him. Wonderful season start for the show.
-
The second episode had Suzanne Pleshette as a former friend who was in love with Kimble and who wants to run away to Brazil with him (so the cops can't get him). A very good episode, too, even though she lies to him about information she has about the one armed man.
-
I started the third episode which guest stars Lois Nettleton as a deranged murderess who killed a man for leaving her, but she's using Kimble as her alibi, which, of course, is not something he wants to do.
-
Lots of action at Chez derBrucer/SWW today, even though only one of them was home......
Sure beats yesterday when I spent almost the entire day phone-sitting (which means no internet) waiting for word from a local contractor on when he would be arriving at my daughter's camp-site to deliver a load of pea-gravel. Haven't decided which of the two Blu-rays I'll watch tonight. Whichever has the fewer bonus features since I didn't get started on it this afternoon. I'd like to finish it tonight if possible. I know SIGNS won't have a commentary. Not sure about THE RECRUIT.

NOW....I might take a look at SYTYCD - IF the football player from Ohio comes back and gets sent to Las Vegas....if there is a sighting, some DR might let me know.
I kept trying to figure out what CD was the SYTY CD. I went thru just about every musical I could come up with, with no luck.
-
Oh, I dunno...
How about the guy in bed next to you?
;D
Gee, he told me something about having to ship out first thing this morning to go overseas. He said this might be his only chance at love. :)
But he did leave me a note on my pillow that read, "Buy Bonds."

Does Toto need a pedicure?
He got one when they got to the Emerald City (and I don't mean Seattle).

I can imagine TCB didn't feel he looked his best.
George would have to clear that through my agent.

Proofing, organizing, and then just had two long telephonic calls. I guess I can say that schedule-permitting, the role of Harry Schechter in the informai reading of Nudie Musical will be played by Mr. Patrick Cassidy. I hope to have news about Rosie in the next day or so.
Great news!

I figured it out for myself, otherwise my post would never have seen the light of day.

My goodness, quite a commotion today at DRs dB and SWW's place! :) Glad that all ended well.

I've decided on SIGNS tonight. No commentary (THE RECRUIT has one) and it's seven minutes shorter, so I should be able to watch the entire disc completely tonight.
WBBL.

Ain't no one told them how to spell it? It's GEORGIA---Jorja's how the ignunt people spells it.
Of which, it seems, you have quite a few:
ATLANTA JOURNAL CONSTITUTION (http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/stories/2008/05/19/georgia_failing_crct_scores.html)
State notifies parents before releasing awful test scores
In social studies CRCT, less than 30 percent pass; In math, 40 percent
According to the unofficial results, only 20 to 30 percent of Georgia's sixth- and seventh-graders passed the state social studies exam. In math, about 40 percent of eighth-graders could be held back because they failed the test.
The parents will be so pleased.

I own a copy of this disc, and thought it was a DVD of some obscure Hollywood movie! :-\
I will immediately pull it out of the "to be watched" stack and insert it into my CD player!

And schedule permitting, our Rosie in the Nudie Musical reading will be - Beth Malone.

More casting to come. Reading looks like it will be on June 16.

We have had a good day at World of Wisdom, but most of it was done in about 90 minutes.....not much in the way of commissions so far.

With Borders, not a license, but a certification.
Even when I worked La Prima Espresso Co., I didn't have to have a license. . .

I've been told a barrista license is needed in Oregon. It seems so easy to get on-line, maybe it is just a certification. Who certified you, Borders or the state?

Oh, I'm already enjoying my 4-day weekend! Richard and I ate pizza and then I baked brownies for us to take to a college graduation celebration picnic for one of Rob's friends tomorrow. I also added a bonus track, "You Have To Be There," sung by Alice Ripley from "Raw At Town Hall (http://www.kritzerland.com/EA.html)." It's the English version of "Du Måste Finnas." :)

The advantage of one dog, easy to focus more on the training. All I have to do is walk the opposite direction, say ABOUT or LET'S GO. Of course it helps if the dog can hear you. Getting in front of a dog to give sign language can be difficult.
All is an exaggeration, I should say most of the time. We also have an emergency call I really should practice. He knows a quick response will provide a ton of treats.

Good Evening!
Since it was such a beautiful day, I decided to walk up and through Central Park after my auditions were done. I put in my earphones, put my iPod on Shuffle Play and just sat on a bench in the middle of the park for about an hour...
-A perfect way to start my holiday weekend. :)
-
...Then once I got home, I went ahead and changed out a couple of light bulbs (four in all) in various ceiling fixtures... Made a sweep of the various bottles and containers in the fridge that were "past due" (then rinsed them out, and put them in the recycling bin)... Bagged up the recyclables and put them out for collection... Threw out the garbage... Went to the store to buy some paper towels... Picked up some dinner - fish-n-chips... And started some laundry.
Very domestic, yes. But since I'm the only one home right now, it's been kind of nice just taking care of the apartment and myself. And it's also quiet too. :)
-
-And I'm finally catching up on last night's season finale of "Grey's Anatomy" too.

We are celebrating my mother's birthday tomorrow by driving a short way to meet her at a "vintage" movie palace to hear a half hour recital on their mighty Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ, followed by a showing of Chaplin's City Lights, which I've never seen, followed by lunch out at a nice restaurant.

Keith set up my new google page with a box showing most watched YouTubes. I saw a picture of a baby (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P6UU6m3cqk)
in a high chair & was curious.

Hello, everyone!
I've spent the last two days meeting with real estate agents and taking care of other sell-the-house stuff. Did I really need something else on my plate? Oy. But one of them sounds promising. I think he and I are on the same page.
The latest trend in real estate is staging, ie, making the house look presentable. I do appreciate the concept, but the idea of someone who has fantasies of being a decorator coming in and tarting up my house...well, obviously, I don't like it!
-
DR TCB,
Thank you for your mention the other day about bonuses to SELLERS whose homes have not yet sold. I had not heard about that. Performance bonuses to agents who get results, yes, but not the reverse.
-
Oops, I think I just missed him. Sigh.

Well, I just got a call from my friend Josh, asking if I would want to see the new Indiana Jones movie. Of course, I do! So, we're going to meet at about 9:15 for the 9:30 showing (I'll probably get there earlier). I'll just go home real quick for a little something to eat then head over to the theater. So, I'm off.
Until later!

Though I liked his previous two films more, I think this is the last one of his films which works all the way through. I wasn't a big fan of it the first time I saw it. It certainly increased in my estimation this time around.

Charlie Wilson's War
Our time would have been better used washing socks or cleaning the oven.
I haven't seen the second one, but I quite liked INTO THE WILD. Sorry you didn't.

CITY LIGHTS, only one of the greatest movies ever made.
-
I forgot to mention earlier that I did watch today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Yep, Col. Crazy, Ameera, Luke, and Noah were all there in various New York locations but very little of any consequence got done. There is definitely skullduggery afoot, however.
-
When I went back down, I watched SIGN on Blu-ray. I liked the movie better this time around than when I saw it before. It worked better for me this second time.
The HD encoding looked very nice but it wasn't perfect. There were dirt specks and a couple of other little problems.
Sound was an uncompressed 5.1 mix, the most open and enveloping sounding a soundtrack like this can attain on HD.
-
There were about an hour and a half of bonus features and I watched all of them, too, all ported over from the sDVD version of the movie. None of the bonuses was done in HD, sad to say.
-
In the time I had left, I finished the episode of THE FUGITIVE I had started this afternoon with Lois Nettleton. Surprise! She didn't commit the murder after all. The town deputy did it!
The episode was directed by Sydney Pollack.
-
I recorded tonight's rerun of NUMBERS which I'll watch tomorrow as I cook and eat a light lunch. I'm invited to a friend's house for dinner tomorrow evening, so I won't eat a big meal for lunch.
-
Did a bunch of errands, then had some dinner, about which more in the notes, visited with my designer, Doug Haverty, then came home and watched another Chan movie (the worst I've seen). Now I shall proof a bit and do stuff on the computer.
-
Wow! It's much later than usual for me here. I'm heading down to bed NOW!
Good night!

Page Eight Tin Man and Dorothy Dance!!!

And now I'm REALLY going!
;D
-
You and everyone else. :)
-
Well, except for the eleven GUESTS. Hi. eleven GUESTS.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I'm here!
I've done the JONES thing, and ended up with a platonic date with cashier Sue from Borders!
We had a great time, dishing the dirt before the show and thrilled to the action & adventure that is Indiana Jones.
There are some really nifty twists and turns in the movie and many, many references to the three other previous adventures.
Bringing back Karen Allen was quite a nice touch.
The cast was/is top-notch.
John Williams' score propels the movie at just the proper pace.
The older Harrison Ford gets, the more he looks like Gary Cooper.
-
. . .but you see, bk, now I am the only one here. . . .
-
Oh, no you're not.
-
Will we never get to page nine?
-
We would in any of our sixteen GUESTS would get off their collective butt cheeks and take the plunge - the water's fine. It's not like this is all that chat or datalounge.
-
Make that seventeen GUESTS.
-
I will single-handedly take us to page nine.
-
Oh, no you're not.
Well, NOW, I'm not. I was THEN.
-
Maybe I can help push us to the next page. . .
-
ITunes is now playing the soundtrack to the latest Indiana Jones adventure.
-
I liked the scenes which saluted several 1950s flicks.
-
There is even a tip of the fedora to a 1950s Charlton Heston/Eleanor Parker movie.
-
Got any dirt to dish?
-
Sue, whom I sometimes get to work with on weekends, and I agree on practically all the other employees at Borders. . .our conversation should have been making ears burn.
-
As Yvonne de Carlo once sang - I'm Still Here.
-
And so are thirteen GUESTS. Thirteen Guests - wasn't that a William Castle film in Illusion-O?
-
We're STILL on page eight?
-
I'm here alone.
-
Alone I'm here.
-
Here I'm alone.
-
Page nine seems to be with the elusive butterfly of love.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Well, we still have nine GUESTS, so that's something.
-
I think we're close.
-
But maybe we're not.
-
Well, no one can say we didn't get to page nine.
