I just spent 6 hours doing heavy gardening work---digging and weeding and pulling up trees. Ack. I have a feeling I will regret this anon.

I just read that director Sydney Pollack has died.

How awful!

And how ironic that I just typed his name in my review of THE FUGITIVE TV box set since he directed an episode of the show.

I had a nice time at my friend Jeff's cookout. It was a lively crowd, and we did some serious eating. I felt stuffed at 7:30 when we ate, and now past 11 p.m., I still feel stuffed.

I am not used to eating meals in the evening. This should be the last one for awhile.

I came home and watched two more episodes (the remaining two in the set) of THE FUGITIVE. In the first, Kimble hitches a ride with Warren Oates who's wanted for robbery, and he gets thrown in prison and, of course, recognized by the sheriff. Madelyn Sherwood played the local town telephone operator. Strother Martin was also in the episode.

The last one featured Janis Paige as a dying singer hooked on morphine. Obviously to not have to pay music rights royalties, some songs were cut from the original broadcast for this transfer since the show ran two or three minutes shorter than the other episodes in the set.

Tomorrow I'll start on Season 4 of THE ODD COUPLE. I cued up the first disc in the set in the player before I turned everything off, and I see that "The New Car," one of my all-time favorite episodes, is on this first disc.

I just saw Sydney Pollack as a very young actor in a Twilight Zone episode a few days ago.

Not a too-bad experiment in cooking tonight.  Poached chicken breasts (poaching liquid used for cooking the rice, of course, augmented with onion and carrot).  And, as a sauce for the chicken, mandarin orange with orange juice, grated ginger and coconut.

Der B liked it.

So did the dogs, what they got of it, but that doesn't reflect on der B's tastes.

Here's an Evening Primrose review from Film Score Monthly:

Evening Primrose (1966) ****

STEPHEN SONDHEIM
Kritzerland KR 20011-6
14 tracks - 35:12

<SNIP>

Since this is a limited pressing, soundtrack lovers will have to compete with musical theater fans for the 3,000 copies. As complete a release as one can hope for, Evening Primrose is an astonishing accomplishment, both for the young Sondheim way back in 1966, and for Kritzerland in the present. —Cary Wong

If you haven't ordered yours, now would be a good time.

That's a great review, BK.  Congrats!

I had a crappy three-day weekend, thank you very much.  Most of the time I have been in pain, and been sick to my stomach, but worst of all I had to miss THE LAST STARFIGHTER.

Although, I am sure that Fred and Skip preferred that to my getting sick while the show was in progress.   :-[

I was downloading a firmware update for the PS3, and now that it's finished, I'm heading down to bed.

Good night!

It appears that the MRSA has infected by brain.  I just sat and watched an entire Casper Van Dien movie.

Well, if nothing else, he is nice to look at...even with his shirt on. ;)

I believe that is how I spelled it.  ???

That is how you spelled it.  However, the "Keeper of the Names" did not - at least not on Page Six.  ;)

George - DR Julie produced the NYMF production of Last Starfighter, and she was asked to join us onstage for Friday night's talkback to give her insights from a producer's perspective on how the material people were seeing in the Issaquah workshop prsenetations would translate to the stage in a fully staged production.

Thanks for the info. :)

I just finished watching a movie called, "Neverland."  It's a modern retelling of the Peter Pan story, set in an amusement park.  It's very interesting.
