Well, you've read the notes, the notes were about a day called Thursday on a Friday, and now it is time for you to post until the Thursday cows come home on a Friday.
-
And the word of the day is: VERBOSE!
-
Today, I'm leaving work early so that I can work concessions tor Ladies of Laughter (https://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/20-03-06-ladies-laughter/) at the Washington Center.
-
I almost forgot about it. Fortunately, I have clothes to wear.
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
For the record, I don't have much money these days for food, so my freezer is generally 2/3 empty. I envy those of you will jam-packed freezers.
At the moment, the freezer is packed with soup and several boxes from Omaha Steaks, the remnant of a most wonderful and excellent Christmas gift.
-
My sleep wasn't bad last night. I had to get up twice to walk around a bit and stretch my leg and foot muscles that were killing me.
-
BK, you may hear from the writer of "Everybody Wants To Be Sondheim."
-
Yesterday's soup session lasted from 10:00am to 7:30pm, when I had finally washed everything up and cleaned the stove. I got a lot of exercise jumping and running to and from the kitchen, toting and hauling pots and pans, climbing a ladder for storage containers. My body is rather sore today, but the soup turned out quite beautifully. It's quite good.
-
I missed the TOD yesterday, so these are the Olivier films I like:
Wuthering Heights
Henry V
The Beggar's Opera
Carrie
The Prince and the Showgirl
The Devil's Disciple
Oh, What A Lovely War!
The Seven Per Cent Solution
Marathon Man
-
I have a completely free day today, so I will tidy the apartment a bit, take some Amazon carons to the basement, pay some bills, and lie about.
-
Anyone planning on seeing Love Life at Encores! in two weeks?

Anyone planning on seeing Love Life at Encores! in two weeks?
I was looking into it but I see the Saturday matinee conflicts with my soup kitchen commitment. I have to see if I can get coverage

Good morning, all.

I was looking into it but I see the Saturday matinee conflicts with my soup kitchen commitment. I have to see if I can get coverage
I’m looking into it, too.
-
OMG. a completely free Friday for me. Whatever shall I do?
I’ve got a project or two to work on today. This evening I could catch one of a couple of local plays I’d like to see, but there are other times I can go.
-
I have no idea what movies are playing. Not the slightest. I should check that out.
-
Thirty-five years ago today, my restoration of the 1935 Cole Porter-Moss Hart musical JUBILEE played at Town Hall in its first production by The New Amsterdam Theater Company.
In 1999, the BBC broadcast a fine performance, but the over-long book was given preference over the score so two beautiful ballets Porter composed were not recorded.

Beautiful!

It is my opinion that many gentlemen in Decatur did not even realize she was wearing a hat.....
-
Well EMMA is not showing at my most local movie place.....it's probably in the next town over.....
-
Good morning!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Time to pay bills. Oy!
-
Good morning.
-
Today’s breakfast was oatmeal with sliced peaches and pumpkin seeds
-
Lunch was the rest of the butternut squash soup with pumpkin seeds
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.

Topic of the Day: in my CD player here at work is the original Broadway cast recording of Beetlejuice.
-
I'm enjoying it.
-
I really like Alex Brightman.
-
He was very good in School of Rock, at least on the cast recording.
-
After Beetlejuice will be the Music of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - In Four Contemporary Suites.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I, too, have a mostly free Friday. How did I choose to spend it? Doing laundry. Groan. I have several sweaters that need washing--separately--and I wanted to wash at least one of them. I threw some other clothes in with them. Sweater is now air-drying.
-
That last post should tell you that I have no news. However, I did find this...
www.bbc.com
Then scroll about halfway down the page to "Featured Video: Vietnam's Coronavirus Handwashing Song." It's quite clever.
-
TTFN.

Friday afternoon greetings! I am icing my ankle after my second physical therapy session with a lovely young woman named Kristy. There’s been enough improvement that I’m not wearing the boot at all and managed to get around Kroger and do my own shopping yesterday. I am scheduled for PT 3 times a week until April 3.
-
Reading about DR Vixmom's driving experience ... I give people 3 seconds to go on a green light. Or i honk once. If they don't go (they always do) I would probably start honking more. I am shocked that the person made you miss 3 green lights. I would have gone ballistic.

Are you sure that's a good idea? Just be careful/
-
DR Elmore, it’s what was prescribed by my orthopedist. And, yes, I’m being careful. For example, they told me Wednesday to do my home exercises 3 times a day, but yesterday I only did them twice. I figured the trip to Kroger compensated for the third round of exercises and Kristy agreed today.

That's great. I also like the Texas sign:
"Wash your hands like you just got done slicing jalapeños for a batch of nachos and you need to take your contacts out."

Was just told what the hardcover of the book is at retail. I can do nothing about it, sadly, as that many pages generates that price point. It's like 42.95. I won't charge that much on our site. I'll try to keep it around thirty-six.
-
So, no special limited edition on this one, but because of the higher price, I will include a signed musical quote rather than just a signature.
-
I have discovered a great composer - shocked that I knew nothing of his work at all, especially as he's scored several pretty well-known films. A Brit named John Veale. Great stuff.
-
That's a good deal for us MR BK!
-
What is this Page Two malarkey?
-
Picked up tapes, picked up a package, and then went to Gelson's. Cashier's, unlike yesterday, are now wearing plastic gloves. I saw some customers wearing gloves. I saw no evidence of toilet paper but huge amounts of paper towels. Because I buy in bulk from Amazon because no one carries the TP brand I like, I currently have 25 rolls left (plus more of a generic brand I've never even opened) - but the 25 should last almost a year and this panic and hysteria will be a thing of the past long before that.
-
Had the hamburgers again today, so will be right around the 1000 mark again, calorie-wise, and that's IF I eat the third one later.
-
Just love this John Veale guy - haven't heard a bum piece yet. I grabbed two symphonies, his clarinet concerto, several concert pieces and a lot of excerpts from his film scores. Hearing them makes me want to see the films - The Purple Plain, Clash by Night, and others.

LOL you are not the only person who would have gone ballistic.

My mother gave me an old can opener when I moved to New York in 1979. I would swear that it was made before WW 2. It worked better than any new one. I used it all day yesterday, and today I cannot find it. This is ridiculous.

Very clever and it shows how to wash your hands correctly something most people don't do.

You don't use Charmin :o
-
I also have 25 rolls, which equals fewer rolls for two of us. I had planned to buy more prior to the rush but this will have to last awhile.

Did you take your trash out or have you gone through it carefully?
-
Of course, I could charge fifty for the book and throw in a roll of toilet paper.

That's still pretty cool!

I hate it when that happens! I somehow misplaced one of my Kindles a couple of weeks ago and I can't find it. :-\
-
I know that it has to be somewhere in my house...hopefully. ::)
;)

;D
-
Well, I'm off to work concessions. I wonder if anyone who bought a ticket will stay home, or if anyone cares. We'll see.
Be back later.

This would be my worst nightmare. This is partly why I usually only take my kindle out of the house if I know that I will read it. Good luck in finding it. And good luck to DR elmore in finding his lost item!
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater.

I left my tablet at our Ashland gym once and freaked out. I have walked away from the treadmill at our current gym but returned withing 5 minutes. I would hate to lose it.
-
We had a nice time out with friends tonight. Dinner was ok.
-
Page 3 at midnight EST?
-
This will not do
-
I on the other hand have an 8 am dentist appointment
-
So I shall not be up posting nilly willy
-
Nilly willy
-
Ok I suppose I did
-
I am going into Brooklyn tomorrow evening to see GNIT
-
A new play by Will Eno
-
It’s a limited run
-
I shall be meeting my friend Maria there
-
But before then I have a dentust appointment at 8
-
Manicure at noon
-
I have to put the new registration sticker on my windshield
-
But first I have to get the old one off
-
I have to wash my hairs
-
And then blow them dry again
-
Do some banking
-
And some credit unioning
-
Gas up the vehicle
-
And I still have to return that urn to Walmart
-
I need to get to Costco to buy a case of decaf coffee
-
I’m not hoarding, it’s for church
-
I have not noticed any tp shortages locally
-
Dinner tonight was an experiment
-
But it was simple and turned out well
-
I took a couple of chicken cutlets and seasoned them with Penzeys Foxpoint blend
-
(salt, freeze-dried shallots, chives, garlic, onion and green peppercorns)
-
And cooked them in a skillet with some unsalted butter
-
After they were nice and brown and cooked through I spread a little Braswells Vidalia Onion and Summer Tomato Gourmet Dressing, on the top and covered the skillet and turned the burner off
-
And it made a nice and delicious glaze
-
Served with rice pilaf to which I added
-
No not pumpkin seeds, I had enough of those today
-
Slivered almonds were the nut of choice for the pilaf
-
W3also had steamed broccoli seasoned with a little grated orange peel
-
Vixdad kindly made a nice hot pot of tea
-
Then vixdad had an apple
-
Gala , for those that care
-
I had some more Talenti hazelnut chocolate chip gelato
-
Slivered almonds were the nut of choice for the pilaf
I toast my slivered almond to sprinkle on salads and other foods.
-
I need to toast another batch as I am out of them.
-
I wonder if DR Vixmom will accomplish everything tomorrow on her long to do list.
-
Good evening.
-
Of course, I could charge fifty for the book and throw in a roll of toilet paper.
Make it a four-pack and you will probably have a best seller!
-
I am feeling incredibly tired this evening.
-
I think I may turn in early.
-
I am too tired to work on my lines.
-
Watching (sort of) David Muir’s OUTBREAK special. It is very weird to here our state called the “frontline” of the Coronavirus.
-
One more post.
-
Page five
-
Oh dear, my county (Pierce County), now has their first Coronavirus patient.
-
Goodnight!
-
Oh dear, my county (Pierce County), now has their first Coronavirus patient.
Oh no. I hope it isn't serious.
-
'night Tom.
-
Good evening, all.
-
Three days has not been enough for San Francisco.
-
Today, I figured out the Muni transit system. Made it to the Castro, which, except for a few sex toy shops, is rather quaint.
I found a chocolate truffle maker and had several for a second breakfast.
-
Then I walked over to the Haight-Ashbury area. The walk there was actually very nice, despite it being mostly uphill.
-
I had two lunches there, some New York-style pizza at a place called Escape from New York and later fish and chips at an Irish pub.
-
Then I walked to the train station and headed off to Berkeley. There I walked up a nature trail beyond the university. I found a trail of stairs down that had a beautiful view of the ocean.
-
Before dinner I went to a bookstore and found a fascinating contagion volume called A Time to Dance, a Time to Die. It’s about the bizarre dancing plague of 1518.
-
I am pleased you are enjoying your visit.
-

I have never heard of this plague.
-
Then it was dinner at Chez Panisse, which was a precious memory in the making. The people sitting next to me were from Dallas and we talked a little. The visit was a pilgrimage for them, too. It was the woman’s birthday. She sat next to me on a communal banquette. We were soon swapping tastes of food. She loved my side fish of Spanish anchovies. I loved the mint herbal sauce on her rigatoni.
-
I ate, drank and dined in style, then went next door to a bar Alice Waters owns called Cesar (another film in the Pagnol film cycle where the name Panisse comes from) and had a post dinner drink and snack.
-
I returned to the AirBnB and soaked for a while.
-
Now I’m ready for bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
Dinner did not disappoint 😊
-
I will pass on reading about the strange plaque and will watch for your comments.
-
Back from a very good show and a smaller but great audience - actually bigger than most Friday nights.
-
Excellent.
-
Made burger three, which put me a bit over 1000 calories, then used the rest of the lettuce for a little salad with balsamic dressing.
-
Well, I'm off to work concessions. I wonder if anyone who bought a ticket will stay home, or if anyone cares. We'll see.
Be back later.
I'm home. :)
-
I didn't hear what the final audience count was, but it seemed pretty full.
-
The three comedians were all very funny, but the MC who introduced the others was probably the funniest.
-
A good time was had by all!
-
Afterward, Margo and I went to Applebee's for a late dinner.
-
I had one of their half-price-because-it-was-happy-hour appetizers, Wonton Chicken Tacos!

Fortunately, I bought mine used for $15 or $20.
-
The only real inconvenience is that I don't specifically remember what all is on it.
-
I can re-download the Amazon titles that I purchased, but any library OverDrive titles (that I can remember) will take a while to get again.
-
I was in the middle of the first book in the Altered Carbon series, and I've already placed a hold for that, but it'll take about two weeks to get again. :P
-
I had some more Talenti hazelnut chocolate chip gelato
Good! ;D

Neil deGrasse Tyson was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight.
