Happy new year to all. May the new year bring us all joy, love, health, wealth and creative fulfillment

I second that.

But, given my concerns about many things going on in the world, I will also add:

May you all know courage, and pluck, and resilience, as I think we'll all need it.

I also wish Bountiful Rewards to all those whose fine efforts have been met with meager compensation or a lack of recognition. May you feel duly compensated this coming year.

On that note, I'd like a nap.

Toodles.

Jerry's was a madhouse, so picked up packages and got two Popeye's chicken breasts - I ordered mild but since my mouth is on fire, perhaps they gave me spicy instead.

My cherpumple layers are cooling. My soup is in the fridge. I've set the bowls and spoons and such as out for the party tonight.

We'll require pics of your cherpumple - both in its entirety and with a slice cut out of it.

Listening to the symphonies of Kurt Atterberg, a Swede.  They're very good - not Sibelius, of course, but very good.  I'm on the third, and that will be followed by the fourth.  I don't have them all.

I finished the chart for "The Great Indoors" and I have some questions for Rob tomorrow. Tonight he's at the Met for the New Year;s Eve opening of Roméo et Juliette.

While I was writing the last 16 bars, I was listening to Downton Abbey on PBS. I think I'd like to watch it all again. I need something epic since i cannot get Season 4 of A Place to Call Home until the end of February.

I'm just sitting here like so much fish waiting for our partay.  Tomorrow I invited a handful of people over in the late afternoon, just because I thought it would be nice, after starting the new novel, to ring in the year in a cozy way.

Dear Jane - whatEVER.  I'm not sure what kind of energy you need to have fun, make some posts, and be in the spirit, but then again I don't understand many things at many times.  Have a Happy New Year.

Watching the crowds near where the ball drops.  What do they do if they have to go to the bathroom?  Do they leave and lose their spot?

It's only three blocks from here.  We can't hear the crowd out the window yet, though.

I finally found the time to make the onion custard pie that I've wanted to try for a few weeks now.

Caramelized onions, eggs, heavy cream, Swiss cheese all baking in pie crust. (I had Swiss, not the Gruyere called for.)

And listening to Donna McKechnie's one-woman show. She just started "At the Ballet."

This may be a ridiculous question, but don't Swiss and gruyere melt differently, so that the recipe may need a different cooking time?
