The Jay recording of The Baker’s Wife is boring. How do you make Pagnol boring?

I like much of the JAY recording because the score is so good.  Mrs Nunn stinks as Genevieve.

I finished the liner notes and sent them off.  The previous CD of this release (done in 1986 and boy is this an improvement) and so many ridiculous errors in track titles and other stuff - I had no idea until I did the research for the notes and thankfully those have all been corrected now, including the ridiculous splitting of one work that is always performed in one movement, into two tracks labeled first part, second part. We've put them back together.

The OBC with Lupone, Peterson, Ralston, and Sorvino is irreplaceable, but so much of the score was never recorded so I sit back and revel in the JAY recording.  I miss Sorvino's singing but Alun Armstrong is so heartbreaking.

Annabelle and Thatch had a whitefish dinner.  I'm thinking of Mexican.  A tamale or burrito sounds festive.

I'm going to watch the BBC Shakespeare version of Measure for Measure tonight.

Maybe I need to program out the dialogue.

I just did something that represents, for me, the fresh start of the new year.  For the past 3 years I've had a basket right here next to my desk containing Mom's "affairs" - bank statements, checkbook, medical forms, etc.  To my best knowledge that's all settled, so I've put it all in a file cabinet drawer.  I know I can't get rid of all of it yet, but it doesn't need to be in my face all the time.

I saw Maddie. 1998, as I recall.  It was beyond awful.  My friend Martin Conor directed it.  They did not publicize the film Maxie but credited the Jack Finney novel Marion's Wall.  There was one awful design gaffe.  At one point the wallpaper is peeled off to find a date from the 1920's, only it was written as a British date, something like 15/10/23.  I told Martin it should be 10/15/23, but I have no idea if the designer changed it.

It's freezing here, and the thought of those 2-million people standing in Times Square just three blocks form us gives me sympathetic frostbite.  And I'm shivering a little already just watching the early coverage on TV.

Then I stopped at Rite-Aid - you'd think it was Christmas rush there - about twenty people waiting in line - ridiculous.  Lots of liquor being purchased for dopes who drink themselves silly on New Year's Eve, and funnily lots of people buying Christmas stuff at cheap prices.  People never cease to amaze me.  I got my Pepcid and left.

Then I had some yummy tuna pasta salad, did the blurb for our first release of 2018, and now I shall do some work at the piano.

Can’t buy liquor here on Sundays. That includes New Year’s Eve.

The temperature has dropped to 36. I think that’s the projected high for tomorrow.
