Well, we're about to go out for a late afternoon birthday dinner.  I know one thing I'm having:  a martini.  As it happens, I haven't had one in months (I was drinking Manhattans like crazy for a while), and I've been craving one for a while.

Both times the topics were anchovies and artichokes.

THE TOPIC WAS ANCHOVIES - my years-later fan-fiction sequel to THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES

;D

I enjoyed that, too, and forgot to comment on it.

I'm not a pizza lover. It's best that way. In addition to being a vegetarian I'm allergic to

wheat
cheese
tomato sauce

Yes, there are gluten-free pizzas these days, but it's just easier to choose something else.

Thanks DR elmore.  Native Tongue looks good.  Should I begin with the first book in the series before reading this one?

My dad's niece was about 15-20 years older than I.  when I was around 12 or so, she married an Italian American and they lived in Manhattan's Little Italy.  when they came to Ohio to visit around 1958, he made pizza for everyone, and I've loved it ever since.

This sounds delicious.

I loved the one Carl Hiassen book I've read (SICK PUPPY) and I always intend to read more.

Thank you for yet another reminder, DR Elmore.

Thanks DR Chas.

I just dropped the girls off at the theater. I'm sure I will hear all about their adventure. For months, probably.

;D  I hope you plan to share their excitement with us.

Love-starved Thatch, for all his dislike of being held, is becoming the little flirt.  He loves to be petted, so he rubs against my legs, then lies down, rolls on his back and lets me pet him. When he gets tired or frightened of what he's feeling, he runs away, and then comes back for more.  Over and over.  Early this morning, he jumped into bed with me and Annabelle, curled up in my armpit and I would swear he tried to nurse!

Yes.  There are recurring characters, like the crazy old governor living off roadkill in the Everglades.

I've enjoyed every one of his books.

Yes, it is indeed Hamilton Day.

in New York City, (almost) each day is Hamilton Day!

Yesterday, Lin-Manuel Miranda and his wife Vanessa had their second child.

Topic of the Day:

I have no idea when I first had pizza.  I do remember when I was young, my mom made pizza with a crust mix from Jiffy.

My favorite now is Dirty Dave's thin crust pepperoni, pineapple, cashew (the first place that I know of that ever had cashews), extra cheese with extra sauce. :D

Off to Houston. My instructor, Joy, is taking her test for her certification in standard dancing today. I have to dance both the leader and the follower (formerly the man’s and woman’s) parts. It’s been a challenge to learn and thankfully the judge won’t be looking too much at me.

I've been fighting a cold all week. Fortunately, minor rather than major, but PERSISTENT. Normally, I take a couple doses of Sambucol and poof! Cold gone. This one doesn't want to leave. Like Elmore, I feel the need to be cautious. My next -- dare I say it? -- root canal is scheduled for this coming Tuesday and I'd like to be as strong as possible going into it.

My mom also made pizza from a box.....I'm pretty sure it was Chef Boy Ardee......you could get cheese or sausage....  It had the dough mix and the sauce...of course you could add your own toppings.

When I worked at the Ben Franklin Store - they sometimes had the mixes on sale - 3/$1 - so I would buy three of each and we always had something for a snow day or a quick evening meal.
