Good movie!
I enjoyed the first IMPROMP movie, but didn't care for the sequel.
Good morning, all! I stayed up to finish reading LET ME IN and slept late. My day today consists of tidying the apartment and vacuuming, doing some folk song research on this Appalachian Christmas project for a meeting tomorrow, and a session this afternoon at the Loesser office over this new edition of THE MOST HAPPY FELLA.
Yesterday, we had a 3-hour recording session and got three more of the Victor Herbert piano pieces recorded; the two bitchiest, the unpublished scherzo and "Mountain Brook," are off our backs, and the only solo left to record is the well-known "Pan Americana." On Thursday we have a full day with Rebecca Luker, who will record several songs including two of Herbert's most famous, "Kiss Me Again" and "Indian Summer." At 3:30 she will be joined by a chorus of six men, including our E&T DRs Jason and DAW and Zak the naked Hercules, to record "Till the Right One comes Along," which I would swear is the original operetta number parodied in the title song from "Little Mary sunshine" (why isn't this silly show done more often?).
On Friday we record Mr Dillon McCartney, Miss Korliss Uecker, and Zak's two numbers with the ladies' chorus. "The Century Girl" and "That Old-Fashioned Garden of Mine," a number very much like the the Rodgers & Hart parody "In the Flower Garden Of My Heart."
When my friends Arie and Kevin lived in DC, I used to stay with them whenever I had work at the Library of Congress. On oe of those long weekends, we went to a local school pancake event raiser, and it was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had: pancakes, several kinds of eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit. The only equivalent is the English breakfasts we were served at our hotel in London when we were recording in 2001 and 2002, although I find English bacon not very appetizing.
And the word of the day is: VITIATE!
Please give DRs Jason and Singdaw a hug and kiss for me.

DR Jose, when we heard about Arena's "culturally diverse" Oklahoma, Richard was about to scoff and then remembered Rob's high school pulling off Fiddler on the Roof with an African American Tevye and a Japanese daughter. Anything's possible!
DR Cillaliz - I am so jealous of you going to the ice show! Watching those specials on TV, I've always wanted to be in the audience for one. I even spent some time this morning investigating a trip, but there's no way to fly from SW Ohio to SUX without making 2 stops and spending a boatload of $$$. Ah, well, maybe there'll be something closer someday...
TOD - At SaraBeth's Kitchen on Central Park South I had one of the best omelets ever - lots of veggies! That's where we gathered before DR Jose took us on a walking tour of the Park and the UES:

Most major cities should have skating show. I'm not sure how far you are from Cincinnati. But they definitely have skating shows that pass through there.
And while we're remembering walking tours....this one took us to the Donut Plant (is that what it's called) that's sort of breakfast
Oh, I thought all the rest were just appetizers before the breakfast doughnutsAnd while we're remembering walking tours....this one took us to the Donut Plant (is that what it's called) that's sort of breakfast
Actually, I believe breakfast that morning consisted of candies from Economy Candy, halvah from Russ & Daughters, and various doughnuts from the Doughnut Plants. :)

It was a "progressive" breakfast.

If you want to come, the best bet is to fly to Omaha and come up from there via car. MUCH cheaper than flying from SUX. My mother was interested in coming until I told her he is skating to Heart - a rock band from the 80s (Or was it the 70s). Neither of my parents like rock music at all. So, they then said no without hesitation.

For TAR fans here.
Apparently this is why there was no speedbump shown last night:
This is to clarify things about Nick & Vicky's Speed Bump Issue...
Nick and Vicki did not have a speed bump due to a production error. The error was they had gotten the music order right sooner than they were given credit for, this was discovered during the pit stop. ...To rectify the error, they were not given a speedbump and all teams started at the circus at the same time. This should have been explained at the start of the show.
Please give DRs Jason and Singdaw a hug and kiss for me.
Betsy is already planning a gourmet meal of Boca Burgers, Tofurkey and Soy Bacon.
Please give DRs Jason and Singdaw a hug and kiss for me.
From me too! :)

I would like to remind all NW HHW-ers (as well as any other adventurous souls) that we're having a dinner party for BK on November 12. So far, only one RSVP, which seems unseemly. :)

No, he's doing this one just to tape the TV special. He isn't on tour
Good deal squared department: Barnes and Noble is having a 50% off Criterion sale, good on everything. Plus, if you join ebates.com (free), and enter B&N through their "portal," you get an additional 8% cash back. Cool beans.
About time to head down to the Loesser office. I've had a profitabe morning doing various tidy-up jobs about the apartment. I'm having a little lunch and heading out.

Are you sure that ebates is free, DR JMK? I once joined something like that after a DeepDiscount order and found that I was being charged 9.99 a month (I had to make a phone call to cancel this membership and get reimbursed.)
Where is the logic behind a studio (and their PR firm) not "fulfilling" titles for the site that gives them their largest readership? I truly do not get it. They will provide screeners to the Podunk Times, with both of its readers, but not to blu-ray.com. Odd, odd, odd.

Is the Blu-ray.com track record a positive one for their releases?
Haven't been able to read the last few days, so a blanket of vibes for all in need.
Still on South Padre Island for some fun in the sun. This morning we took a birding trip off the coast and ended up seeing dozens of dolphins cavorting in the water. They were splashing around and having a great time. Unfortunately, none of my photos is the perfect shot that I wanted, but they were so beautiful to see that it didn't really matter.

I wondered where you were. I'm about to make the red velvet cake. I hope it works in the bundt pan. I hope the weather holds out and I don't have to cancel, or attempt to move the gathering to another house.
A WONDERFUL LIFE - THE MUSICAL?

LOL! This is one of my favorite films; it's very funny and contans possibly the best performance by Bernadette Peters as an actress. Watching Judy Davis chase Hugh Grant is like watching a shark chase a minnow.
There's also a porn movie with this title, I hear

Wow, I'm very proud to have written a "middling" score :) It sounds like they didn't read my preface to the script - which emphatically says that no one should make fun of their characters or put quote marks around what they're doing - that the straighter they play, the funnier it is.
And I do hope all the references to "Zoni" are a typo by the reviewer, since the name of the character is Yoni. Elmore, if they've changed the name, you may want to inform them that it doesn't please the authors and that it puts them in breech of their agreement with Rodgers and Hammerstein.
Wish I could be with you to see it and to hear the middling score.
I have been feeling very drained and tired and odd today
wonderif it culd be an after effect of the flu shot I had on Saturday

DR Jane - Oh! I meant to comment on this the other day. The red velvet cake should work in the Bundt pan, but if it doesn't, well, it doesn't. It varies from recipe to recipe. For a "successful" Bundt cake, the batter usually has to have to some "structure" to it. In other words, if it's a very thin batter, it might not rise enough to fill the pan - and bake properly. However, if your batter is "spoonable", then things should turn out all right.
We are home from the vet. She's telling me he needs to go in for one more dip. I told her the dip is making me sick. Well, it could be that. Anyway, we did agree that I'll call Monday and if the culture she took last week is still negative (so far so good), we'll wait and see if the culture she took today is negative before doing more. (you're supposed to get 2 negatives before stopping) Then, he'll get neutered....THEN the poor guy will be done.

Best breakfast I ever had was a breakfast pizza made by the staff of Sam Morgan's Clubhouse Grill, now Mulligan's Clubhouse Grill, when I was employed there.
Homemade dough, ranch dressing, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, green peppers, onions, cheddar & mozzarella cheese.
More pizza joints should be offering this type of pizza (even though it wasn't on our menu).

LOL-TOO LATE! It worked but it was difficult to get out of the pan with the rose design. I think it might be a smidgen too dry even though I watched it very carefully. I will know tomorrow. The cream cheese frosting I made to serve on the side is delicious.
I made two batches of hummus using Bryan's recipe, regular & spinach, and they too came out great. I'm sorry now I only got veggies to serve with it & didn't get any pita bread.
All this mixing was extremely hard for me to do. It was rather painful on the right shoulder/arm & I'm awkward using my left arm. It took close to three times as long as normal to do it all & I still needed Keith's help a couple of times. I never would have gotten the cake out of the pan or the tahini stirred for the hummus.
Jose's toast story reminded me :we had the most wonderful toast in the hotel in Sasakatoon in August of 2008 - it was this thick thick wheat bread - golden crunchy on the outside and still soft inthe middle because of the thickness - wew were raving about how good the toast was and ordered extra sides of it - the waiter looked at us like we had 6 heads
later when we got to my in laws in Grande Prairie we went grocery shopping and found that this "exotic" bread was readily available - marketed as "Texas toast" unfortunately it is not available here
