I watched the IDOL results show live tonight. Not used to that since I've recorded it and watching other shows opposite it during the past two weeks. Tonight, everything was repeats, so I went ahed and watched live. Never again. I'll record from now on so I can zip through all the manufactured tension.

At any rate, we at least lost one very, very poor singer though we had to give up one good one in the process. Of the two men, neither was going anywhere anyway, so losing them now was no loss. I still think it abominable that something other than talent and stage presence can get people voted into the finals, but this isn't the first time it's happened, and I suspect we'll be rid of the untalented ones soon enough.

Back from a really nice meal with a faculty member from LACC.  I shall now attempt to watch a motion picture on DVD - I remember it being quite bad but so bad it's actually entertaining on some level.  The Other Side Of Midnight.  I couldn't believe the running time listed on the box, however - 166 minutes!

And with that picture, my DIsney snapshots come to an end. Stay tuned to the next page dance of mine where another theme will be begun.

SCRUBS tonight had a new episode, but it was a fairly talky one that didn't have much funny in it. A patient who found out the Army didn't want him back attempts suicide, and the cast makes many efforts to explain why there's so much to live for.

30 ROCK's episode tonight featured Nathan Lane doing some funny stuff as Alec Baldwin's ne'er-do-well brother. Molly Shannon was also featured as his sister. I enjoyed the show but wasn't bowled over by it.

We'll see what Andy Richter's new comedy is like next week.

I am sorry that, in his strong dislike of BYE BYE BLACKBIRD (A Luxemboug movie! Not French) BK "forgot" to mention what a great acrobat AND actor Mr James Thiérrée is!

I guess it's in the blood, since Mr Thiérrée is Mr Charlie Chaplin's grandson!
Saw him recently in "another" French film in which he was quite good too!

Oh, Mr Ozon ("8 Women") has a new film out ALL IN ENGLISH ("Angel") and he's French!

In the 10 p.m. hour, I watched ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5th GRADER. They had their smartest contestant yet (though even he didn't know what month summer ends in the northern hemisphere. Do you believe these people?)

We will need a Graveyard Report sooner or later.

We had about a dozen for puppet beer night. One of them is a regular on GOOD EATS, usually playing a bad uncle, a repairman, or whatever calls for a tall, skinny wacky and slightly sleazy guy.

The place is huge, very nicely done (it used to be a motorcycle repairshop called Motorcycle Graveyard, and they kept the big Graveyard sign. The food was delish, but when the blue singer started playing and wailing, I was really glad DR Jose wasn't there. We must protect his ears!

I will go back again. The music was good but WAY too loud! It's a smoking bar, but so  wide open and airy that you couldn't even smell any smoke. Yay.

Thanks also for the Van Dyke Parks link.  CALYPSO FACTO is one of the greatest titles EVER!!!

Thanks so much JRand! Now, would you like to fund a calypso documentary before any more of the old masters kick the bucket?

He could narrate a Documentary on American Clowns, with Anthony as a star!

Would you like to fund a documentary on American Clowns? (Starring Bill Irwin)

And on that note (H...I'm of German descent, you know ;)), it's time to go home.  I want to watch the 5th grader's show and "30 Rock."  We'll see if I remember by the time they come on. ::)

vixmom - I'll ask him tomorrow about the recipe.  I'm not sure if he can share it on the internet, since it's from his cooking class, but maybe he can send it to you.

 I'd be grateful!!!   :-*

Of course I could just bring the meat over to your apartment, and promise not look while he does his magic and then bring it home.... but it seems simpler the other way  ;D
