The last syllable of requiems may rhyme with London's river Thames, but "requiems" is never accented on the third syllable.  Therefore, this is a forced rhyme.  As "requiems" is accented on the first syllable, to rhyme it, you'd need a three syllable rhyme.  Like the time Mark McGuire (or was it Manny Mota) spoke for all of the Seattle Mariner batters and said "While swinging the bat on deck, we M's/don't like to listen to requiems."

In the great Casilda-Luiz duet in Act One of THE GONDOLIERS, Sir W S Gilbert has this set of lines:

O bury, bury love that all condemn,
And let the whirlwind mourn its requiem!

And der Brucer and I have dined at the Blue Moon a couple of times.  The food there is excellent!

I wonder if Madam Butterfly is "Eurotrash"?

It would depend on what Eurotrash director staged it, doncha think?

The legal battle with My Sweet Lord /He's So Fine gave Jody Miller another hit here with her remake of the old Chiffons hit. Thought I should check  - #53 in the USA in 1971 - made the top 20 here. Trivia is so important!

Have not really listened much and don't have the cover but my mind raced to Londonderry Air when I listened to Josh Groben's "You Raise Me Up" or whatever it is called. There may be a credit!

Oh, London derriere, Tomovoz!! :o

THAT's Eurotrash indeed! ;)

Jody Miller - a collection of her hits.

The Little Prince - the soundtrack CD.

Much as I love Rodgers & Hart's "Blue Moon," I've always preferred Jerome Kern's song from STEPPING STONES:

Once in a blue moon
You will find the right one
Once in a blue moon
Find your dear delight one
And with a thrill you'll know that love is true
Once in a lifetime
When the moon is blue

And there's W H Auden's lyric set to glorious music by Benjamin Britten in PAUL BUNYAN:

Once in a while, the odd thing happens
Once in a while the dream comes true
And the whole pattern of life is altered
Once in a while the moon turns blue

"Home Of The Brave" and "He Walks Like A Man" have been difficult to fond for years. Hope they are included JRand. And of course "Queen Of The House" which is sung by many of us as we dust and polish.

The second of my worsts I've already given enough clues to, a mega-hit Eurotrash popera that glorified parental suicide.
Here, we have to differ.  I never thought that particular suicide was "glorified," quite the contrary from where I sat.  It was glorified in it's opera source material, but the ending of the show you're referring to was more horrifying, particularly as the show simply ends with the suicide, leaving it very unclear as to whether the suicide had the effect the character intended.

Funny that we don't have the equivalent here!

Should be Americantrash!!
That would be redundant.

I am now trying to imagine Madam Butterfly in goth makeup and costume.

Somehow, instead of committing hari kiri, I'm seeing her just getting yet one more piercing.

Changes the whole show, doesn't it!   ;)

DR JRand: Thank you for the link. I am indeed too lazy to make the effort - and frightened I'll spend more money!

I am attempting, once again, to instal a preview version of "1 Click DVD Copy" so that I may test out the software prior to shelling out $40.00! I want to make sure it works...but so far I am not having much luck.

I downloaded it earlier in the month but kept getting error messages when trying to copy...er...make "back-up versions"  ;) of some dvds. I uninstalled it and am now giving it another go.

I wish my computer tech buddy Justin hadn't moved to Washinton! Argh.

If all goes well then a certain DR whose birthday is in August will have some nifty DVDrs for his big 54th b'day!

Hehehehe!

Sometimes MBARNUM....you need to disable your firewall in order to use software like that.  If you are running Norton or anything.

But don't forget to turn it back on!

I'm back after a long rehearsal day.  Lots to tell you about in the notes.  Also, ate a nice dinner and now feel ready to explode from the plethora of foodstuffs.

Beautiful postings today.

It seems that TCB is lurking amongst our yesterdays. Not quite a Happy time reference. Isn't Who's on line an interesting and useful feature ?
