My sister Paula just called.

Emily and Ryan were  married a month ago today, and today Ryan was admitted to the hospital.  There is a possibility that he has some cancerous tumors behind his bladder and it will be known for sure probably later today, he will be moved to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore very soon.

Prayers and good thoughts will be most appreciated, and news will be shared when it is known.

The Angel's trumpet is one of my favorites! They can grow up to 8 feet high here and just as wide. If we ever get rain again I will try to find a place to plant one!

Yep.  And when they get that large, they drop trumpets like crazy.  Of course, they bloom profusely, too.  I've had this one in a pot for at least six years (rooted off a cutting), but this is the first year it's actually produced more than one bloom at a time.  It has been blooming steadily since July.

Noooooo! This makes me cry! I hope this is something they can treat and quickly eradicate. Please keep us posted. It seems like we were just enjoying photos of their wedding and now this!  :'(

Johns Hopkins is about the best you can get for cancer treatment. A girlfriend of mine went there for breat cancer treatment. After a double mastectomy she has been doing great!

Please keep us posted, JRand. We will keep them in our thoughts.

I had a nice surprise yesterday. Our gardening show producer dropped off a wreath she made of things she found in the woods and in her garden. It's so beautiful but I couldn't really capture how amazing it really is. She didn't even stop to say hello but just left it as a surprise.

It makes me appreciate things that you would normally overlook--acorns, fungus on dead trees, things that look like weeds. She can see beauty in the smallest things and figure out a way to put them together to make something like this! I admire her talent so much!

Looks like a wonderful Winter Solstice decoration.

There is a cat named Furball in Murder At Hollywood High - I should think that would be reason enough to get the book.

Good Afternoon!

I'm back from the gym... And accordingly to the scale there, I've lost four pounds over the past few weeks.  -Although, according to the scale I have here at the apartment, I've gained two.  ???  In any case, my jeans are fitting "better", and I'm really starting to fill out my shirts.  :P

Lovely pics, DR Ron Pulliam.

-Oh, and I've been meaning to ask you - and DR Matthew - Have either of you seen any of the damage/results from the oil spill in the Bay?

AHA! An admission to the pirating of pet names.

She deserves her own autographed copy!

DR edisaurus - What a cool wreath!

-Although, I'm now reminded of that one exhibit at the Spy Museum: A group of children from the then USSR had given a present to a government official.  It was basically a decorative wall-hanging.  It was later discovered to have been a listening device/bug that had no apparent internal power source.  Just sayin'.   ;D

Well, I need to get cleaned up, and head down to catch the final run-thru of Irving Berlin's White Christmas before the company heads up to Boston tomorrow morning.  And then it's dinner with some friends.
