"We continue to import their junk with the lead paint on them and the poisoned pet food and export . . . jobs to places where you can pay workers a dollar a month to turn out the stuff that we're buying from Wal-Mart. So I think our relationship with China has certainly changed. I think they're basically the same bunch of goons and thugs they've been for the last 50 years."
George, you should have invited the Circuit City guy home to show your appreciation.

I await news of my family's New Jersey seder plans for this evening, but that news prolly won't arrive for several hours.
Larry, did you see that dear dear Mary Stout is also in the Hartford MUSIC MAN?
And the word of the day is: NOCTILUCENT!
Good morning, all! Back to Ellington. I was bitching about this lousy job to Bruce Pomahac, and his wise advice was, then you just have to finish it and go on with your life. I am trying.
DR MattH (and JMK) - Were those "documentaries" produced exclusively for the box set of Young Indy Adventures? -I just don't ever recall any sort of documentaries being shown on TV when the show originally aired.
I think they were produced for the box sets.
And I had no idea, but these sets are EXPENSIVE! The one I'm reviewing lists for $130!
DR Jane - Yes, those cookies can get a bit sweet over time. -Which actually makes it much easier to not over-indulge. However, I have been meaning to try cutting back the amount of sugar in the recipe - probably start off with taking out 1/4-cup of each type of sugar - just to see if they come out the same way.
Hmm... Maybe I could do that today? ;)
YIKES! Are they possibly angling these toward school/educational use? I just don't ever recall the series being that popular in the first place to warrant such extravagant extras.
LOL Jose. Have you thought about combining the two sugars?
I would like the crisp, Keith wouldn't. I think the brown sugar gives it a nice rich flavor, just too sweet of one. Let me know if you make it with less sugar & how it turns out. Thanks again for the recipe.
Will do. -I've also been wanting to try gilding the lily a little bit by adding some semi-sweet chocolate chips to the batter. ;)
Here's the Playbill story on the Hartford MUSIC MAN, with complete casting as of a few weeks ago.

TV Reminders:And a brand new Iron Chef America - Iron Chef Bobby Flay faces Martin Rios, executive chef at The Inn of the Anasazi, Santa Fe, New Mexico (http://www.innoftheanasazi.com/dine1.cfm).
BROTHERS & SISTERS returns tonight along with a new DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.
CBS' usual COLD CASE and DEXTER are preempted for a TV movie with Marlee Matlin and Jeff Daniels.
JOHN ADAMS series finale
THE TUDORS
Daniel Radcliffe plays Rudyard Kipling's son on PBS tonight.

Perhaps Mr. Doyle should direct MUSIC MAN, then he could have the cast playing instruments, when they aren't playing instruments! And the script for Music Man practically demands that the instruments be played as well as they were for Company!
The Interrupted Dial Tone - wasn't that an Alfred Hitchcock episode?
I have never attended a Seder. The frog references are completely lost on me.
Congrats to DR JOSE on his handsome new luggage. Is yours blue like those pictured, Jose?
Kerry! It is so nice to see you back. You have been missed. Well, maybe only by me.
The frog references are completely lost on me.
of course I will remind him that Evening Primrose on CD is available for pre-order at Kritzerland.com
I have never attended a Seder.
I forgot to mention last night that one of the documentaries in the first disc was of radio/TV/newsreel commentator Lowell Thomas. What an interesting life he had!
Happy for your purchase, DR George. Want to hear all about it once you get up and running.
Remember that the set will need some calibration before it looks really good. Rarely do they come optimally tuned right from the store. Use the THX Optimizer which can be found on many Pixar DVDs (like NEMO or THE INCREDIBLES) to help tune in your set quickly and easily.

Referring to the plagues that God (and Moses) inflicted on Egypt before Pharaoh let his people go.
Yes, that is the "Sapphire Blue" color that I purchased. The other colors - Black and Red - were not on sale, so... I've never really had "nice" luggage, and since the sale and the additional discount were too good to pass up, well... :)
Just think "Mr. Bungee." ;D
Hmm. I think it's a good afternoon for "vegging out" on the bed with a book and a dog.
...the tastefully muted Andrew Lloyd Webber seeping from recessed speakers above the urinals in the men's room...
It's pouring like cats and dogs here.
I shall have a non-Seder dinner, sans frogs.
I remember huddling by the radio listening to the re-broadcasts of his trip to Tibet in 1949 (and IIRC, he broke his leg on the trip back down the mountains which added lots of suspense to the trek).

I'm not even Catholic, but, I would love to be at Yankee Stadium right now.
Didn't a NYC visit from the Pope figure prominently in ROSEMARY'S BABY, also? (was that only in the book, or in the film, or in both)?
The unsettling dream becomes a nightmare when two figures tie her to a bed. Something that looks and feel inhuman brutally rapes her. "This is not a dream!" she cries. "This is really happening!" Pope Paul VI, then visiting NYC and having mass at Yankee Stadium, comes to offer her absolution.
No, the show was never a big hit. I think it only ran two seasons because Lucas and Spielberg insisted on a two year deal (as Spielberg got with AMAZING STORIES). No ignominious quick cancellation for them!
Huh??
America Sacco & Vanzetti must not die
I just feel better with a date in hand!
Sorry, DR Jeanne; it was an obscure A New Brain reference. Mr. Bungee is a frog character that hosts a children's television show.
Nice new avatar, Ginny!
Nice new avatar, Ginny!
Well BLACK GOLD was not a very good play, the cast was fine with some standouts, of course. There was a young man who just learned to ACT in college and he was doing a lot of ACTING - wow!
Mr Kurt says hello to HHW and I hope when I talk to him next week, I can convince him to return to these here parts. He was of course, very good, as were about 3/4's of the cast.
There is a very brief, 12 minutes tops, biography of E. M. Forster on the new dvd of A PASSAGE TO INDIA. From what I briefly viewed last night following KINGS OF THE SUN, the new dvd surpasses the old one in every way possible.
Well, I've been back from my day of TV moving and TV stand purchasing for a while. I watched the second season finale of "Torchwood" (OMG!!) and now, I'm watching the second season finale of "Dirt." Anyway, my friend Margo loaned me her Honda Odyssey and the TV (and later, the stand) fit perfectly in the back. Larry (my sister's boyfriend), my sister, my niece all helped me to get the TV upstairs to my extra bedroom. The room where I'm eventually going to put up the TV is not yet ready. ::) After we got the TV upstairs, we went to Costco to get the TV stand. Here's a picture of it from the manufacturer's website:

Might I just ask what the HELL is going on around here? Page six? Can't even get to 200 postings? I tell you, the bitch-slap machine is coming out and NO one will be spared.
Father Kills Son in Hunting Accident After Mistaking Him for Turkey
BELLE PLAINE, Minn. — The Sibley County Sheriff says that a man who accidentally shot and killed his 9-year-old son while they were hunting apparently mistook the boy for a turkey.
Sheriff Bruce Ponath says that Anthony Klaseus of Belle Plaine and his son Hunter were hunting turkey about three miles west of Belle Plaine around 6:30 p.m. Saturday when Klaseus shot his son in the chest with a 12 gauge shotgun.
Klaseus dialed 911 on his cell phone. Emergency responders pronounced the boy dead at the scene.
