Speaking of "The Valley of the Dills", I made my lunch today, and I have a peppered turkey sandwich on "dill rye."

YUM!

This is amusing:

I'm the February "Artist of the Month" on The Digital Bits website.

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/artist/0209/aom0209.html

Why is that amusing?

Because I can't draw a straight line...sometimes not even with a ruler.

 :)

Congratulations!  -And it's good to see they gave credit to Dave Woodman too.

TOD:  There have been so very many British actors and actresses I have loved seeing in movies I hardly know where to begin or how to be complete.

Deborah Kerr is an all-time favorite, of course, as is David Niven and Vanessa Redgrave and Peter O'Toole (can we call him British for now?).

But Cedric Hardwicke is a great favorite, as is Judith Anderson and Gladys Cooper.  There is Ronald Colman, as well, and Charles Laughton and Elsa Lanchester....and Julie Andrews, of course...but also Julie Christie and Tom Courtenay and Terence Stamp and Peter Finch...and on and on....

Richard Burton, of course...Sir Alec Guinness...James Robertson Justice...Glynis Johns....Richard Todd...Joan Greenwood...Lynn Redgrave...Alan Bates...Oliver Reed...Glenda Jackson...Helen Mirren...Judi Dench...Daniel Day-Lewis...Denholm Elliott...Ian Holm...Ian McKellen...Brian Blessed...Sian Phillips...Simon Callow...Emma Thompson...Kenneth Branagh...Anthony Hopkins...John Mills...Hayley Mills...Wendy Hiller...Sean Connery (see O'Toole, above)...Laurence Olivier....Vivien Leigh...Greer Garson...Angela Lansbury...Annette Crosby...Gemma Craven...Margaret Lockwood...Christopher Gable...Twiggy...Antonia Ellis...Moira Shearer...Jean Simmons...

...and on and on...

I see from searching on the Internet that location shooting for Goodbye, Mr, Chips [1969] occurred at The Repton School, Derbyshire, England.

My sister called earlier to wish me Bon Anniversaire and I will probably be the recipient of phone calls this evening from other siblings and a nephew and niece or two.

Well, I'll be heading out to lunch with best friend John in a bit, so I guess I'd better head downstairs and get ready. I must also make a trip to the post office this afternoon.

I was going to put my favs Richard Harris and Peter O'Toole, but I guess they don't count since they're Irish
(I've included some from Wales, so they may or may not count)
Anthony Hopkins, Gary Oldham, Richard Burton, and Michael Caine
Julie Christie, Emma Thompson, Vivien Leigh, Helen Bonham Carter, Helen Mirren and Catherine Zeta Jones

You could combine two classics and you get:

And you could star Arlene Dill.

Oh, and I liked John McEnery (he played Mercutio in the 1969 Romeo and Juliet)
And of course, Haley Mills during my elementary and teen years

I counted the Irish and a Scotsman anyway.  They're all from the Isle of Angels...and BK probably won't have a "Who Are Your Favorite Scottish/Irish Actors" day.

His brother Peter co-starred with Hayley in "The MoonSpinners" and starred as "The Fighting Prince of Donegal", too.  He also had a plum role in the British movie version of "Entertaining Mr. Sloane."

The snow in London is bad enough (6 inches so far with more predicted) that they have closed many West End Theatres for the evening performances.

Wow!

Maybe bk ought to just go with a "Who Are Your Favorite Actors from Eastern Europe Day" to be inclusive ....

So far I've only had one, and my reaction was, who is this? I looked her up in my senior yearbook and I still don't know who she is!

That reminds me that I also love the late great Beryl Reid, who is the definitive Kath in the film version of Mr Orton's comedy, and she's so wonderful as Mrs Slipslop in JOSEPH ANDREWS that I wish she'd done more Restoration and 18th Century English comedy roles like Mrs Hardcastle and Lady Wishfort.
