Finished having a wonderful interview/conversation with former child actor Scotty Morrow (PEYTON PLACE, THE COSMIC MAN, and just about every TV show made between 1955 and 1965). He had a lot of wonderful memories and had worked with quite of few of my previous interviewees!

I am now starving and am about to eat a Healthy Choice TV dinner. I wonder how healthy they really are?

Am determined to be fit as a fiddle for my NY visit...although I have yet to get to the gym today...and probably won't.

Jose, great news!   Just make sure you are in town on the 5th, October that is.  Speaking of our walking tour, will Arties be open?  I forgot to ask when you mentioned stopping there.

Time for me to say goodnight-even before Danise does. ;D

Wussburger!   :) :D :)

Am listening to a lovely singer named MONICA LEWIS. It was a CD that I found in a discount bin someplace...had never heard of her before, a very pretty singer from the 1950s...and I am kind of liking her.

The CD also lists Jack Kelly and his Orchestra...don't know if that is the actor Jack Kelly or somebody else.

Any idea??

I don't know Monica Lewis.

But was Scott Morrow ever on the Donna Reed show?

The reason I didn't post last night was because I was calling around, looking for a locking gas cap.

Since Bonnie is parked at the Park and Ride all day, I thought it might be a good idea to get one.

Gas was 2.99 last night and 3.25 this morning.  I'm thinking some people might get a little desperate.

I know that a locking gas cap won't really stop someone if they really want to get into it but my thought is that (just like with the club), if they see an anti theft device on the car, they might go looking for more easy pickings before they attempt to mess with mine.

The NY DAILY NEWS has its own charity set up for hurricane relief. I agree that it is hard to trust some of these organizations, but what can you do?

I sent my check to the American Red Cross. They will use it where it is needed most.

Anyway, it seems that locking gas caps are THE hot ticket item in Tampa right now and there isn't one to be had.  I finely called the Ford dealership and had one ordered.  It should be here tomorrow.

The cost was around fifty bucks.  YIKES!   :o

Yes, on several episodes he played a character on several episodes named PeeWee.

In addition to the Donna Reed Show, Scotty Morrow starred in an unsold TV show called THE JOLLY GENIE. Along with the pilot episode (which was released to kiddie matinees some years later) they filmed 7 episodes...I think I need to find this show!

My Chinese lunch was delicious, but believe everything you hear about Chinese food. An hour later, you ARE hungry again. I've had some Healthy Choice Chocolate Chocolate Chip ice cream and later some tortilla chips (undipped).

I didn't do any exercising this morning either and I've felt guilty all day about skipping them. I guess I'll have to do them tomorrow, even though I usually take the weekend off from working out.

Well, a nice evening full of video treats. First of all, I finshed LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, and it was such a satisfying ending.

(Spoiler)

So glad Mrs. Johnson ignored her husband's wishes of putting Clara in a home for retarded children and let her fulfill her dream. Looks to me like now that Clara is set, Mrs. Johnson may have a few dreams of her own she might want to pursue.

I'll be eager to read more about the making of this film in several books I have around here.

When PIAZZA concluded, I put in THE NARROW MARGIN which I have often heard about but never seen. What a marvelous, tight little noir thriller! Love dramas set on trains anyway, and this one was a peach with some wonderful surprises. Very entertaining, and so compactly made. All that action and suspense packed into 71 minutes!

Even though I still have those Norma Shearer movies on the DVR, I pulled the Rex Harrison version of DOCTOR DOLITTLE off the shelf and watched the first half of it. The transfer shows up more beautifully and colorfully than I remembered it being, and I was thoroughly entertained.

That film is something of a marvel: when I saw it as a teenager, I found it super slow moving and despite liking some of the songs, somewhat resistible. Now, I find it very entertaining. I'll enjoy finishing it tomorrow.

Mike, did Scotty talk about THE JOLLY GENIE?  One of the weirdest movies I remember from my childhood.

In addition to mopping the kitchen tomorrow, it looks like I might have to mow the front yard, too. It's looking pretty scruffy.

There is  a poem whose title I can’t remember, nor can I remember who wrote it.

The poem is called "Song (Requiem)" and it's by Christina Georgina Rossetti (1830-1894)

Poet's Graves tells us:

Quote
Christina Georgina Rossetti is buried in Highgate Cemetery, North London. She was buried in the same grave as her mother and father.

Rossetti  suffered with poor health for much of her life and as a result she rarely went out or received visitors. She lived with her mother for most of her life.

She was born into an artistic family. One of her brothers was Dante Gabriel Rossetti -  the painter and a poet - while the other was William Michael Rossetti - a leading art critic and editor. It was William who edited her complete works in 1904 (10 years after her death).

At one stage she was engaged to painter James Collinson - a member of the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood - but the engagement was broken off in 1850.

Her poetry, which is often compared to that of Emily Brontë, is characterised by an overwhelming sense of melancholy.

Rossetti contracted cancer in 1891, but an operation prolonged her life until December 1894.

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
  Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned:
  Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.
[/size]

International Herald Tribune; Friday, September 2, 2005.

"New Orleans:
... The huge crowds, hoping to finally escape the stifling confines of the (Superdome) stadium (to board buses), jammed the main concourses outside the dome, spilling out over the ramp to the Hyatt Hotel next door -- a seething sea of tense, unhappy people packed shoulder-to-shoulder up to the barricades where heavily armed National Guardsmen stood.

At the front of the line, the police officers and guardsmen stood watch and handed out water as the exhausted refugees struggled onto buses.
......
Many people had dogs that they were not allowed to take on the bus. A police officer took one from a little boy, who cried until he vomited. The policeman told a reporter he did not know what would happen to the dog."

Ron Pulliam, Happy Birthday to my dim sum buddy!!! Wishing you many smiles.

Thanks, dude.

For those who think he's saying I'm not very bright at math, "dim sum" is Chinese for hors d'oeuvres.
