Well, you've read the notes, the notes were schizo, and now it is time for you to post until the schizo cows come home.

And the word of the day is: CLAMANT!

And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Welcome ten GUESTS.

And a happy haineshisway.com birthday to Erik Otterberg, whoever that is.

Have you ever met a clamant clement claimant?

And the word of the day is: CLAMANT!
Pehaps the song of the day is 76 TROMBONES?

Listening to The Roches sing their song "The [Commuter] Train," and thinking of all our dear NYC DRs. Yes, even the one currently displaced to the Left Coast. And the one displaced to the - well, I wanted to say Midwest, but Ohio isn't really the Midwest yet.

Good Morning!
I'm... Well... I guess I'm up. But I'm also pretty sure I will be heading back to bed momentarily.

Well... I think I'm sleepy again, so...
Goodmorning/night.

Happiest of birthdays to DR JEANNE!!!

Great casting news for THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL read thru. I remember seeing Mr Patrick Cassidy in a movie called Nickel Mountain, which I watched in order to see Mr Michael Cole.... Mr Cole was very well into looking middle aged and Mr Cassidy was very handsome.
I also saw a LOT of Mr Cassidy in Bay City Blues on television.
-
Well I am off to work, of course. And of course Miss Trish cannot come in (Again) today, so my nephew CJ is working with me. He is scheduled to be there at ten, but I don't expect him to be there before noon....if then.
Just makes Saturday difficult - doing a reading and also watching the store and the register....someone always has to wait!
So....it will be a frustrating day for the customers and the clerk at World of Wisdom today.
-
Happy B Day Jeannie!!

Great TOD
For me they were usually late 50's-70's character actors who made the rounds on tv shows. Remember there were only three US networks back then. They would show up games shows, talk shows et al.
Most of them the careers last that long which is not bad for an actor.
Now I don't know why, but
Carol Worthington was the first person that popped into my mind.
-
Saturday morning greetings! I slept in until 7:30 and am now enjoying coffee and some quiet time.
Happiest of birthdays to DR Jeanne!!!

I am having allergy problems, hence I am up at five-thirty in the morning. I'm out of my good allergy pills (I'll get some later) and I've taken an Actifed, but they simply don't work without the real Actifed stuff.
-
Everyone disappeared.
-
Thanks, DR Ginny! :)
Feel better, bk!
-
Oh, and the president of the Stephen Sondheim Society in London asked me the following question - I'm sure one of you can answer it:
Do you know anyone who has a recording of Tick Tick Boom which includes the phone call from Stephen Sondheim?
Thanks
I have the feeling time is of the essence, so I'm interested to know if anyone does have it.
-
Or even knows what it is.
-
I suppose I'll try to get some more sleep now. Although, I'm really not feeling tired.
-
Sure is quiet here on a Saturday morning...
Hope I didn't make too much noise prying 2 dozen chewy brownies out of the baking pan and arranging them artfully on a tray.
-
At least I got us to page 2...
-
Character actors?
I always had a special affection for James Gleason and Edward Brophy.
Did you know that Brophy was the voice of "Timothy Mouse" in DUMBO?
-
I, of course, loved S.Z. (Cuddles) Sakall, Leo G. Carroll, Dan Seymour, Whit Bissell, and a whole slew of others - William Schallert, Kathleen Freeman, Doro Merande - names are not coming right now, but they will, oh, yes, they will.
-
Welcome nine GUESTS. It is raining in the City of Studio.
-
Good morning, all! I have very little planned today. I got back to Randy's about 11:30 pm and he and I sat up and talked until 1:30. I am dragging myself around this morning very slowly.
I have some Brain surgery, and not much else planned. Tomorrow is a full day: a visit with my Uncle Bob and then dinner with DR Ginny annd DH Richard.

Good morning!
Cool and rainy for a bit this morning, but looks like the rain is stopping as I type. A pleasant morning.

TOD:
Beulah Bondi, Donald Meek, Nigel Bruce (though I guess he did become a star with the HOLMES series), Ellen Corby, Jane Darwell, John Hamilton, and Henry Daniell are the first ones who come to mind.

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]Happy Birthday to DR Jeanne!!![/move]
-
I'll watch last night's NUMBERS rerun which I cook and eat lunch today. Then, I'll continue with THE FUGITIVE for awhile.
I'm invited to a friend's house for dinner tonight, so I won't have a long list of shows watched this evening. Something different is always good, I guess.
-
I was delighted to read that LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT has been renewed for another 16 episode season on USA. USA has six or eight episodes from last season's order which they're going to start showing in a couple of weeks (on Sundays, I believe, moving from Thursday). Whenever they're on, I'm there!
-
Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes!![/size]
Thank you BK, Singdaw, Jose, JRand, MichaelS, Ginny, Jennifer, Elmore, MattH! How wonderful you all are!! I really appreciate it!

TOD:
I, too, have always liked LEO G. CARROLL and am pleased whenever I see him. But the actor who comes to mind first is MICHAEL GAMBON. I love his work.

Bruce, I tried to reply to your email, but gmail was having none of it. Thank you just the same.

I've got to attend to a couple things, then WBBL.

To some people, anything west of the NJ Turnpike is the midwest for all intents and purposes. ;)
Wasn't there a, supposedly, true story about Dorothy Kilgallen asking someone from the West coast if they still had to fight wild Indians? It sticks in my brain, but so do a lot of other things.
-
Heading down now to check the mail and then think about fixing a snack for lunch. I'll be having a much bigger meal tonight.
WBBL.

Didn't she live in 19th century so I am sure that was logical ;D
-
...Ohio isn't really the Midwest yet.
Once when I was in California (Sacramento), I asked the young man waiting on my friend in the Eddie Bauer Home Store if they had any locations in the Midwest. He thought a minute and said, "Well, I think there's one in Denver." I said, "Where I come from, that's 'out West.'"
Guess it all depends on your perspective.
-
Or even knows what it is.
I know what it is! That is all.
-
I have the OCR of Tick, Tick, Boom--is that what's needed?
Another weird synchronicity with the Title o' the Day--just yesterday got a 1944 NY Sunday Mirror magazine with complete records of Frances' original psychiatric examinations. A sidebar goes into lengthy detail about what "schizophrenia" is. Sad reading.

For those of you who have been stocking up on my cheap DVDs, I'm moving my auctions over to:
www.ewaey.com
Until eBay comes to its senses over this ridiculous new feedback policy of theirs. My username is jmk5659. So far I only have the Frank Sinatra Early Years boxed set up, but I'll be adding stuff today, and since the site is not very frequently travelled yet, you can have your pick o'stuff and probably not get bid against at all.

Happy Happy Birthday, DR Jeanne!!!!
-
We are also having strange weather. It was 110 earlier this week; now it is cold and rainy.
We are enjoying this last bit of coolness before the blast furnace season begins.
-
Couldn't log-on for hours, or else I would have wished
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JEANNE
much earlier.
-
I awoke at ten and found the site down - must have been about two-and-a-half hours, looking at the last post. Of course it happens on a holiday weekend. I e-mailed them immediately, telling them I'd already written earlier in the week about the "too many connections" problem (they never responded to that e-mail), and asking them to not only fix the problem but to tell me what the problem was/is. Then I called their support line and left the same message.
It took ninety minutes more to have them fix it, and then I received a one-line e-mail "The problem has been resolved." I wrote them back telling them that would not suffice, that I'm the customer, I pay a lot of money to have them host this site, and that I'd like the courtesy of knowing why these problems keep happening. If I don't get a response, then I'll call on Tuesday morning and get management on the phone.

One more!

Good Afternoon!
Yep, the site was down for a bit.
That is all.
-For this post.
-
So... After getting out of bed around 12:20pm... ;)
I've been watching and re-watching some stuff on the DVR from the past week. A truly lazy afternoon.
-
While HHW was down, I took my computer apart, dusted my desk, and rearranged a bit so I can face the computer and the TV at the same time Getting ready for surgery recuperation and our Tony partay...
-
Are we STILL on page three? I'm on my way to drop off a Nudie Musical DVD for Beth Malone. And to print out the script.

Okay, it's one thing for the site to be down, it's something wholly other for there to be no people here at 1:40 in the afternoon. This will NOT do, and there will be a bitch-slapping to remember if this does not stop here and now and also now and here.
-
Did errands, dropped off Nudie Musical to Beth, shipped packages and am now awaiting the Handy Man to fix this damn electrical problem once and for all.
-
Welcome eight GUESTS - why don't one of you charming people get off your ASS and post something?
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Make that eleven GUESTS - now there are three more ASSES people can get off.
-
I'm at work, invoicing and listening to Legally Blonde. :)
-
That's a post...and so is this!
-
I mean, we're still on page three. That is cause for deevorce where I come from.
-
Make that fourteen GUESTS - three MORE ASSES for people to get off of. The GUESTS are putting the hainsies/kimlets to skammen.
-
And then everyone will sheepishly come back and say "I was busy, I was this, I was that" and we will laugh and laugh and just when we think we can laugh no more we will laugh again.
-
Make that sixteen GUESTS. Two MORE ASSES for people to get off of.
-
Make that seventeen GUESTS - one MORE ASS that someone can get off of.
-
I don't remember Brent in that movie.
Well, you might want to check it out because they have a major kiss in the film.
-
I began watching NUMBERS while I was cooking lunch and realized that it wasn't from this season at all but an episode from last season which I had watched just a month or so ago in the box set. So, I immediately deleted it.
-
Next, I finished watching THE FUGITIVE episode which I had started yesterday. It featured Diana Hyland as a young mother with a five month old baby. Turns out, she is deranged and had kidnapped the baby from its real mother. Without realizing it, Kimble had helped her. Really good episode. Royal Dano was another guest star.
-
I watched a second FUGITIVE episode, this one featuring a VERY young Kurt Russell playing, of all people, the son of Kimble's arch enemy Lieutenant Gerard! Wonderful episode.
In an early scene Russell is talking about his football trading cards saying he had just gotten a Jim Brown card and Kimble says, "But you don't have a Johnny Unitas. You can't have a good collection without Johnny Unitas." I wonder how many people watching this sets will remember those names from football yesteryear. They were both superstars in their day. Do people still remember them?
-
I tried a few more times earlier. It was down then up then down and then up again. I hope all is okay now
-
I do have a question for computer Mavens out there.
No matter what browser I use: IE, Mozilla or Safira I am having problems with IMDB. It is the only site I have this problem with.
I cannot see any of the photos associated with this site.
anyone have any ideas why?
-
I'm going to do some computer maintenance myself and then head down to get ready for the dinner party I'm attending later.
WBBL.

PAGE FOUR...FINALLY...DANCE!!
;)

Hey, Singdaw, how's the DVD burner working??
-
Back from Mom's birthday celebration. The theatre was beautifully restored, the organ "pre-" show fabulous, and my first enounter with a Charlie Chaplin film - CITY LIGHTS - was a revelation! Loved it! Topped off by a very nice lunch out. :)
-
bk, relative to Sondheim + Tick Tick Boom, I found the following online:
NEW YORK Opening-nighters at the musical "Tick, Tick ... Boom!" were astounded to hear Stephen Sondheim's voice blare out on the answering machine when the Jonathan Larson character (Raul Esparza), a down-and-out composer-lyricist, receives an unexpected call from his idol. At the post-perf party June 13 at Chinghalle, "Tick" producer Robyn Goodman said getting the notoriously private Sondheim to lend his vocals to the show was no problem.
"I faxed him a request and he said yes. He remembered going to one of Jonathan's workshops."
That leads me to suspect that the moment is captured either on the cast album of Tick Tick Boom, which I have, or the Jonathan Larson demo disc, which I also have. But I can't confirm for you at this moment if that is the case for sure.
-
Hey, Singdaw, how's the DVD burner working??
DR George - I'm embarrassed to admit that I plugged it in to make sure it turned on, but beyond that I've yet to crack open the manual or try to hook it up. I'm just hopelessly slow in adapting technologically to anything new. I assume you're happy with yours? :)
-

So happy, I got a second one! It's actually quite easy...once you learn what to do. ;D
-
I sure hope DR Jeanne is enjoying her special day! :)
-
DR George - with 200 hours of recording capacity, that should last you for a little while! :)
-
DR George - with 200 hours of recording capacity, that should last you for a little while! :)
Well, I've actually not tried out the 200 hour lowest quality setting, yet (you can REALLY tell a difference :P). I have the Comcast DVRs to record shows that I want to watch and I delete what I don't want to keep, but if it's something special that I want to burn to DVD (like Camelot or the Mary Tyler Moore reunion on "The Oprah Winfrey Show"), then I've been recording it from the DVR to the DVD burner on XP (1 hour per disc) or SP (2 hours per disc...you have to set the recording speed/quality before you actually start recording onto the DVD burner) and then delete from both it when it's all done. The instructions say that the burner is not a permanent storage system.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR JEANNE!!
WISHING YOU A VERY SPECIAL DAY! [/size]

DR George - I just meant: if you have two machines, and each one is supposed to have a 100 hour storage capacity..
-
We had a delightful time at the graduation picnic for DS Rob's friend and DH Richard's former student Andrew. He will be leaving at the end of the summer for a year of teaching English in Singapore.
The weather here in SW Ohio is absolute perfection for outdoor events and it's supposed to be this way until late Monday 8)
-
DR George - I just meant: if you have two machines, and each one is supposed to have a 100 hour storage capacity.
Umm...I knew that. ;)
The EP setting (lowest quality) can be set to make your burned DVDs have either six or eight hours. That's a setting in the set-up. When you change the record setting (XP to SP to LP, etc.), it shows how many hours are left on the hard drive and I think the 8-hour setting actually gives you over 100 hours. I don't remember exactly how much, but I'm sure that it's more than 100. :)
-
Well, my work at work is done! I'm going to leave HHW for the day and meet up with TCB. We'll then go to Issaquah to meet with Fred and Skip again (hopefully) and see The Last Starfighter reading!! ;D
Have a good day, all!
-
DRs George & TCB - have fun seeing The Last Starfighter tonight! Please give our best to DR FJL and Skip!
-
DR Jeanne-Have you watched any of the shows where they stage the houses to sell? Admittedly most of those homes can be fixed with a good amount of common sense, such as CLEAN THE KITTY LITTER! ;D
When we sold our last home we were asked a number of times by other realtors if the house had been professionally staged. We were very flattered since it was us (mostly Keith) that did the staging. During showings we loaded the car with the cats, kitty litter and the dog. The dog loved it, the cats weren’t very happy.
My point, I speak from experience. Bryan did a great job staging his loft following the suggestions of his realtor & his experiences with all our moves. A good realtor should offer suggestions, and “tarting” up the house shouldn’t be one of them. The key is to simplify. The counters should practically be bare. The contents of closets, cabinets, etc should be loosely filled. The furniture arranged in a pleasing manor which makes the rooms look open and large. Possibly some furniture should be stored to accomplish this. Window treatments should be open so light filters in.
Somehow I have a feeling you don’t need much additional work to accomplish this without a professional or with simply a consultation.
GOOD LUCK!
-
Well, you might want to check it out because they have a major kiss in the film.
I am not even sure I could sit through LONGTIME COMPANION again. It tore me apart the last time I watched it.
-
I will not be attending the reading of THE LAST STARFIGHTER. All these medications for the MRSA have made me sick to my stomach and very dizzy. I just can't believe that I have to miss this performance!
-
Back from all sorts of things. First off, the news is not good re the power shortage in the den - it won't now be fixed until Tuesday, and he won't allow the breaker to be turned on, because he can actually hear it shorting and sparking. It's a huge thing to do - to figure out where in the line it's happening - and he may end up having to re-wire the entire line to the den. It's going to take most of Tuesday, he says. So, watching motion pictures this weekend is out, unless I want to sit on my bed like so much fish, and I just get no joy out of doing that or watching on a small screen.
-
At the urging of many, I became a Costco member today. I learned one thing immediately: Never go there on a Saturday. It was a madhouse and one fellow told me that it was a LIGHT Saturday. He suggested always coming mid-week around four in the afternoon, which is what I'll do. I was rather amazed by the enormity of the jernt. I bought three HUGE squeeze bottles of ketchup for nine bucks - I know that saves a lot of dough from what you'd pay for much smaller bottles for a regular supermarket. I bought two 32-can packs of Diet Coke for 8.85 each, plus whatever that recycling fee they add on - it's really not THAT big of a savings, maybe three or four bucks tops. I bought some Reese's snack bars - that was the bargain of the day - under five bucks for a carton of forty-two bars.
-
Welcome eleven GUESTS. Why don't each and every one of you get off your collective ASSES and post?
-
Or should that be collective ASS. Do we have a number agreement problem here?
-
DR TCB - I'm so sorry you're missing the show tonight! We'll keep you company if you feel like staying on the computer for a while.
-
Being sick to your stomach and dizzy is a prerequisite for seeing The Last Starfighter :)
Only kidding.
-
Make that twelve GUESTS. Now we have one MORE ASS for someone to get off of.
-
Make that fourteen GUESTS. Get off your ASS and post, damn it all.
-
I have been at the theater this afternoon. We saw "The Wedding Singer."

I know both of those names and I don't even keep track of football, past or present.

bk, so sorry to hear about your electrical troubles. But at least it sounds like it will now ultimately be fixed for good.

Watching It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World. Which I have never seen before.
I think it's safe to say that most films I have never seen before.
I'm Amish. ;D
-
Of course he fact that Jim Brown did a spread in PLAYGIRL did help in keeping his name in my memory all of these years ;D

I think it's safe to say that most films I have never seen before.

One of my all time favorite movies, DR Singdaw! I hope you are enjoying it!
-
I hope you are enjoying it!
Yes, indeed! :)
-
I also have had a most lazy day...a 3 hour nap...and just sitting around watching movies....and my first Bollywood movie of the weekend was TANGO CHARLIE....quite a good (anti)-war film which has a splendid cast of Bobby Deol, Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, and Suniel Shetty.
The two leading ladies are quite good as well, though they are only in flashback scenes.
The musical numbers were fun, also.
-
TCB, take care...I am so sorry you are feeling so yuckky.
-
There was also a UK revue of Sondheim's music called "Moving On," which was recorded and which I have, and which I recall had interpolated pre-recorded clips of Sondheim speaking. But I can't think of any reason why it would have anything to do with Tick Tick Boom.
-
I will not be attending the reading of THE LAST STARFIGHTER. All these medications for the MRSA have made me sick to my stomach and very dizzy. I just can't believe that I have to miss this performance!
I'm sorry, I was afraid that would happen. Thankfully your lunch date was moved up and you managed to have a nice time together with Fred, Skip & George.
-
At the urging of many, I became a Costco member today. I bought some Reese's snack bars - that was the bargain of the day - under five bucks for a carton of forty-two bars.
Be very careful. One of the temptations of Costco is purchasing large quantities of foods you can’t finish, or worst, shouldn’t. ;D
-
I have been at the theater this afternoon. We saw "The Wedding Singer."
And...? Did you enjoy it?
-
So, DR Jane, read any good books lately?
-
I'm ready THE GLORY, the very large sequel to THE HOPE. While I don't consider them Herman Wouk's best work, I've been enjoying them.
How about you?
-
I'm trying very hard to finish Jacqueline Winspear's Messenger of Truth, the 4th in the Maisie Dobbs series. It's not my favorite and bears out Richard's theory that authors have trouble with #4 in a series.
Next up: My Home is Far Away, by Dawn Powell, and Still Point (a ballet novel), by Deborah Weisgall.
-

I know that staging is "the thing" and it was suggested that I don't move totally out of my house before showing. However, I just have too much stuff...so for me having the house very clean with no furniture in it was the way to go. We emphasized move in ready. I sold both houses fairly quickly
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR JEANNE!!
-
I've been watching for Messenger to show up at the used book store, so far I haven't found it. Since I expect there will be a 5th book, I'll still read it-if I ever find it.
My next book will be small and easy to hold, easy on the wrists. ;D
-
I have had a nice day. I brought home a painting I bought last week and tried to figure out where to hang it. I chose over the piano and when I got done realized I had a bunch of clutter in that area of the living room so I started moving things. I was trying to decide what to do with my guitar, I haven't played it in ages and was considering selling it WAS because I got it out and played it a little. I decided I need to play it more often. Then I played the piano for a while. I haven't done that in ages either.
I went for coffee with Paul and ended up going to sales at two different furniture stores. I found a great lamp.. so I got it. Well that meant I had to rearrange part of the living room to have a place for it. SO, the painting is hung, furniture has been rearranged and I'm really liking it.

DR Cilla, an empty can be better than having too much clutter. It also helps if there aren't too many "move in ready" homes on the market at the time. Finding the right price also helps sell a house.

I have had a nice day. I brought home a painting I bought last week and tried to figure out where to hang it. I chose over the piano and when I got done realized I had a bunch of clutter in that area of the living room so I started moving things. ;D Sounds like a fun day.

All my rearranging and sorting churned up a lot of dust and now my head is all stuffy. Of course, being outside by the river here in "Sinus Valley" may have something to do with it, too.

Good Evening!
After waking up from (yet another) nap a couple of hours ago, I went ahead and headed out to join some friends for dinner at Pinch & S'MAC (http://www.pinchandsmac.com/). All of us ended up choosing our dinner selections from the S'MAC side of the menu, although there were plenty of people choosing from the Pinch side. Needless to say, a Chopped Salad and a small Cajun Mac'n'Cheese made for a very delicious and filling dinner. :)
-
...And then for dessert, we walked down Columbus Ave. a couple more blocks to Magnolia Bakery for some cupcakes and banana pudding. :)
*Note to any sailors in NYC for Fleet Week - If you happen to stop into Magnolia Bakery, there will be bound to be more than one person in line who would like to buy you a cupcake or two, and/or the management will gladly treat you to one too. :)

My last house was such a fun bungalow. It was the type of unique house that I knew someone would fall in love with it. We just had to wait for that someone to come along.

And in the absence of DR DerBrucer, here's a bit of sad news...
Harry Potter actor stabbed to death protecting his younger brother (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/2022742/Harry-Potter-actor-stabbed-to-death-protecting-his-younger-brother.html)

;D Sounds like a fun day.
It was. We have a possibility of storms tonight, but it looks like they may be dissapating before they get here. That's fine with me. Tomorrow is when it's going to get hot, so that's when we have the best chance of storms. Oh Joy
-
DR Cillaliz - your Sunday forecast sounds like ours for Monday. We're hoping the storms hold off until after the cookout at our niece's house.
-
Gonna take a Zyrtec and take my stuffy head to bed - 'night!

The weather here in NYC continues to be on the "cool" side, which really isn't such a bad thing, but... I actually think I want some warmer - hotter - temps soon. ???
-
We've had thunderstorms the past two nights, but they've been very late and haven't been severe. The rain in the night is nice, just hope the severe stuff stays away
-
Tomorrow we're supposed to be mid to upper 80s with a lot of humidity. That's a recipe for severe storms, so I'm not looking forward to it
-
Well, no one can say we didn't make page six.
-
I'm quite logey from having not gotten enough sleep.
-
Welcome eleven GUESTS. How many of you are sitting on your ASS?
-
I'm sitting on my ass, but I'm posting too. So there ;D
-
And...? Did you enjoy it?
It was fluff and predictable. I liked the grandma best.
-
I think I am hearing fireworks....

Watching It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World. Which I have never seen before.
I think it's safe to say that most films I have never seen before.
I'm Amish. ;D
My brother and I used to have violent quarrels about which was the funnier big epic movie comedy. He supported MAD WORLD. I always chose THE GREAT RACE.
I thought then and I think now that THE GREAT RACE works so much better, has better jokes, and it's shorter. MAD WORLD has a bigger cast of comedians, but I don't think they're always given inspired things to do.
-
Had a wonderful evening of food and friends, both excellent in their own ways. A nice change of pace.
-
Jim Brown, of course, also had a fairly lucrative movie career in movies like THE DIRTY DOZEN.
-
When I got back in, I finished the FUGITIVE episode with the young Kurt Russell starring as Gerard's son. Kurt was a screen natural even at this young age. No wonder Disney snapped him up for films.
-
And even MORE birthday wishes! Thank you!
My appreciation to DRs TCB, LAURA, JMK, MBARNUM, GEORGE, MISS KAREN, JANE, CILLALIZ, and AMISHDAW!
And, Bruce, sorry about the low post count today. The DRs and I were out celebrating my birthday.
-
I started on another FUGITIVE episode, but I didn't quite get halfway through it. In it, Leslie Nielsen is guest starring as a paraplegic who captures Kimble and holds him for ransom (not knowing he's a convicted murderer).
-
TCB, I'm so sorry you're not feeling well again and had to miss THE LAST STARFIGHTER. I do hope you get some relief soon.
-
I'll finish that episode tomorrow and then I'll work on the next Blu-ray review copy: Al Pacino and Colin Farrell in THE RECRUIT.

Re: COSTCO
I find that going around 6-7pm at night is less crazy and there are no huge line ups at the cash.

Jane,
Regarding staging, I've read quite a few articles on how to sell your house and they all say pretty much the same thing. Before listing the house, Marvelous Matt and I went through the house with a fine-tooth comb, repaired this, touched up that, and I threw out a HUGE AMOUNT OF STUFF. I also packed up a lot and Matt helped take it to a storage locker, which is now completely full. As I was doing it I said to Matt, "Now you know what the agents will say: 'You need to get rid of more!' " I was hoping that while the house was on the market I could indeed go through more and continue to cull, but there simply hasn't been time. It is very time-consuming.
I received high marks from the agents on having very neat and tidy and well-organized closets. Despite having put so much in storage, my closets are still pretty full. I still have tons of books, too. But, thankfully, no one seemed unhappy with my office, which also has a lot of books and files and such--tidy, though. Are they more forgiving because it's my office?
I'm simply not a minimalist and never will be. I'm a pack rat--a recovering one, perhaps, but still a pack rat. I know the guidelines--I just find them difficult to implement.
And one guideline that I don't agree with: to depersonalize as much as possible. I saw one house that had been severely depersonalized--it looked like a Holiday Inn. Not a photo or memento in sight. I really didn't find that attractive. I prefer a house to be welcoming.

Watching a motion picture on DVD - in the bedroom.
-
Thank you all again for helping me celebrate my birthday.
Good night.

Went to the Walmart and bought some foodstuffs and now I am back to watch another Bollywood flick....this one is GADAR (2001)...a very sobering film about a Punjabi Sikh protecting a Muslim girl from harm during the violent clashes between religious groups during the partition in 1947. Very sad and tragic, but the song and dance numbers lighten things up!
You can see a fun one here.......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DwwJZoh0ZQ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DwwJZoh0ZQ)

Thank you all again for helping me celebrate my birthday.
Good night.
Hope it was wonderful!
-
I didn't make very many changes in my livingroom, but for some reason it really feels a lot more comfortable and open to me. Hmmm what can I do tomorrow??? This weekend is clean the house weekend. If I really get ambitious I'll clean all the left over wallpaper pasted off of the bathroom upstairs and go buy paint, but I think I want to get the house cleaned first.
-
I also need to get gas for the lawnmower and finish the back yard. I'm thinking about getting some geraniums and maybe some petunias or pansies to plant outside. If the weather is good tomorrow, I may just do that
-
Heading down now to bed. I must get up tomorrow morning and mow the back yard. Today's rain prevented me from mowing.
Good night!
-
Man, we're really not going to get past page six. Say it isn't so, Joe.
-
Nobody here but us chickens and us chickens are getting out the bitch-slap machine.
-
Speaking of character actors...Donald Murphy, who seemed to show up in all the 1950s tv shows died the other day at age 90...and it was just reported that Dick Martin, of Laugh In fame, died today at age 86.
-
Since I mentioned Doro Merande earlier it's only appropriate that she had a nice role in the movie I just watched.
-
I don't know. Did you ever get the feeling that page seven is a dream?
-
I currently have that feeling.
-
I will say that the new notes are up but I don't feel like changing the topic yet.
-
Well, no one can say we didn't make page seven. Who knew?
-
Congratulations to all the errant and truant on our lowest posting day in almost a year, and certainly our lowest number of "views" in more than a year, if I'm not mistaken.
