FJL, I liked the butterflies in the Melissa Manchester video last night, but I switched over and watched Melissa's live recording of DON'T CRY OUT LOUD from the Rainbow Room, which I just love.

Good morning, all! I'm feeling puny today so I'm staying in. I have a few computer things to accomplish with The Lady Of The Slipper but I'm fighting an urge to rteturn to bed and not climb out of it today.

DR MattH, I wsh to hell PSYCH was on before MONK because the past three episodes have convnced me the writers are idiots and that the show has jumped the shark one too many times. I expect more from a mystery or a comedy than the following:
  1. three weeks ago he bought a house
  2. two weels ago he has no money to pay Natalie; how the hell could he afford to buy a house with worse cash flow that mine?
  3. last week the continually ugly egocentrism of both Adrian and Natalie seemed totally out of character, Randy was more repellent than usual and the whole episode seemed to negate any likeable traits from anyone except Greg Jbara. I think the series is an embarassment.

Speaking of embarassments, does anyone really - I mean REALLY - watch the Holly Hunter series or IN PLAIN SIGHT? If TNT isn't careful, they'll kill THE CLOSER by piling so many bad things onto its back.

Well, I'm crabby today.

Good Morning!  Good Afternoon!

I'm up, I'm up... And two words:

Blueberry Pancakes

:)

-Well, that could almost be four words, but for today's purposes - and homecooke brunch! - it's two!

And, yes, I did make blueberry pancakes. I was in the mood for a "real" breakfast.  I was going to head out to eat, but since I needed to do a bit of grocery shopping, I decided to head to the market, and see what happened to catch my eye.  Well, they weren't selling blueberry pancakes, but I did happen to see a box of Bisquick, so...  :)

*I also happened to hit a good sale week - at least for the stuff I wanted to buy.  My grand total at the cash register was $14.36.  However, if I had not used my club card to take advantage of the special sales, I would have paid $32!  Now that's a bargain!

**And I already had the blueberries here at home.  And the maple syrup as well.  :)

I watch it regularly - it has steadily improved and is quite enjoyable. (It does have last year's Tony-nominated Mary McCormack and Fred Weller. whom you may have seen very exposed in Take Me Out.)

I've watched Destination Saturn and Destination Neptune, but it feels like one of the videos that comes between those is missing.

Well, if you call your left hip Saturn, and your right hip Neptune, right between is Uranus.

And continuing with bk's Factoids from yesterday:  Did you know that a "Marshmallow Square" (a.k.a. Rice Krispies Treat) from Starbucks contains 440(!) calories?

I saw both Fred and his replacement in TAKE ME OUT. Dennis O'Hare gave one of the greatest performances I've ever seen.

Gotcha.  Apparently, there was some bug going around last week.  Lots of people with flu-like symptoms and stomach issues.  I was healthy, but happened to touch base with a few friends over the past few days, and found that that was the reason they were incommunicado last week.  I hope you feel better as the day goes on.

DerB, maybe you're on to something:

Back from a two-mile jog - actually, I did something I've never done in this neighborhood before:  I took a brisk two-mile plus walk from my home environment down to Ventura Blvd. and then east all the way to Vineland.  And then I jogged all the way home from there - probably close to four and a half miles betwen the walking and the jogging.  Man, am I pooped.

I have been partaking of DRLaura's ripened andenourmous apricots.

And lusting after some of the male members here (and you  KNOW who you ar4e.   Jason Graae finally straightened out.  Tommy Kirk is not straight and admittedly so.  Old Yeller, I believe is straight.

Kerry Hughes is not.  Big surprise there!

I'm not sure if this will start with the second batch of CLOSER shows (the first batch will air thru Sept. 15) but eventually, when TNT rolls out its new shows, Grace will move to a different night than THEN CLOSER and they will use both shows to help launch some of their new original series.

We were down south of Atlanta yesterday, celebrating Greg's sisters' birthday. We brought a cake from the French bakery---strawberry with butter cream frosting---so I will be making amends all week for that!

On the way home, the sky was black, and we saw several lines where high winds went through and leveled trees. We had to come through downtown Atlanta because of road constriction on the highway, and there were lights out everywhere and lots of trees and big branches down. One fell across our street, knocking out power to our 81 year old neighbor (it was her birthday, too!) so we spent most of the evening dealing with that. Since the power line was live, there wasn't much we could do.

We were able to reunite a lost Jack Russell with its owner, and met some neighbors we didn't know, so that was the good part of the evening.

MattH, I'm glad you received FLYING THE SECRET SKY, and I hope you enjoy it! (I believe JMK will be receiving one, too!)

It's a fascinating story for anyone interested in WWII history, or history docs in general.
Here's the website:  www.flyingthesecretsky.com

It will air on PBS, presented by WGBH, in the fall.

It's funny that DR Jose mentions eating blueberry pancakes because i had some today too. Could not resist. My mom made a huge batch.

I have not been that good this week, having this plus chinese food at my sister-in-law's party (and leftovers the next day). So i will need to exercise this week!
