Sure is quiet here on a Saturday morning...

Hope I didn't make too much noise prying 2 dozen chewy brownies out of the baking pan and arranging them artfully on a tray.

Character actors?

I always had a special affection for James Gleason and Edward Brophy.

Did you know that Brophy was the voice of "Timothy Mouse" in DUMBO?

I, of course, loved S.Z. (Cuddles) Sakall, Leo G. Carroll, Dan Seymour, Whit Bissell, and a whole slew of others - William Schallert, Kathleen Freeman, Doro Merande - names are not coming right now, but they will, oh, yes, they will.

Good morning, all! I have very little planned today.  I got back to Randy's about 11:30 pm and he and I sat up and talked until 1:30.  I am dragging myself around this morning very slowly.

I have some Brain surgery, and not much else planned. Tomorrow is a full day: a visit with my Uncle Bob and then dinner with DR Ginny annd DH Richard.

TOD: Beulah Bondi, Marjorie Main, Leo G. Carroll

Happy Birthday Wishes to Our DR Jeanne!!!!!!

Great casting news for THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL read thru.  I remember seeing Mr Patrick Cassidy in a movie called Nickel Mountain, which I watched in order to see Mr Michael Cole....  Mr Cole was very well into looking middle aged and Mr Cassidy was very handsome.

I also saw a LOT of Mr Cassidy in Bay City Blues on television.

And, of course, he's spectacular in LONGTIME COMPANION where, as a soap opera actor, he's involved with Brent Barrett. That's two gorgeous men together in a memorable moment for sure.

Good morning!

Cool and rainy for a bit this morning, but looks like the rain is stopping as I type. A pleasant morning.

TOD:

Beulah Bondi, Donald Meek, Nigel Bruce (though I guess he did become a star with the HOLMES series), Ellen Corby, Jane Darwell, John Hamilton, and Henry Daniell are the first ones who come to mind.

I'll watch last night's NUMBERS rerun which I cook and eat lunch today. Then, I'll continue with THE FUGITIVE for awhile.

I'm invited to a friend's house for dinner tonight, so I won't have a long list of shows watched this evening. Something different is always good, I guess.

I was delighted to read that LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT has been renewed for another 16 episode season on USA. USA has six or eight episodes from last season's order which they're going to start showing in a couple of weeks (on Sundays, I believe, moving from Thursday). Whenever they're on, I'm there!

I, too, have always liked LEO G. CARROLL and am pleased whenever I see him. But the actor who comes to mind first is MICHAEL GAMBON. I love his work.

To some people, anything west of the NJ Turnpike is the midwest for all intents and purposes. ;)

Wasn't there a, supposedly, true story about Dorothy Kilgallen asking someone from the West coast if they still had to fight wild Indians?  It sticks in my brain, but so do a lot of other things.

Didn't she live in 19th century so I am sure that was logical ;D

...Ohio isn't really the Midwest yet.

Once when I was in California (Sacramento), I asked the young man waiting on my friend in the Eddie Bauer Home Store if they had any locations in the Midwest.  He thought a minute and said, "Well, I think there's one in Denver."  I said, "Where I come from, that's 'out West.'"

Guess it all depends on your perspective.

I have the OCR of Tick, Tick, Boom--is that what's needed?

Another weird synchronicity with the Title o' the Day--just yesterday got a 1944 NY Sunday Mirror magazine with complete records of Frances' original psychiatric examinations.  A sidebar goes into lengthy detail about what "schizophrenia" is.  Sad reading.

For those of you who have been stocking up on my cheap DVDs, I'm moving my auctions over to:

www.ewaey.com

Until eBay comes to its senses over this ridiculous new feedback policy of theirs.  My username is jmk5659.  So far I only have the Frank Sinatra Early Years boxed set up, but I'll be adding stuff today, and since the site is not very frequently travelled yet, you can have your pick o'stuff and probably not get bid against at all.

I don't remember Brent in that movie.

We are also having strange weather. It was 110 earlier this week; now it is cold and rainy.

We are enjoying this last bit of coolness before the blast furnace season begins.

I awoke at ten and found the site down - must have been about two-and-a-half hours, looking at the last post.  Of course it happens on a holiday weekend.  I e-mailed them immediately, telling them I'd already written earlier in the week about the "too many connections" problem (they never responded to that e-mail), and asking them to not only fix the problem but to tell me what the problem was/is.  Then I called their support line and left the same message.

It took ninety minutes more to have them fix it, and then I received a one-line e-mail "The problem has been resolved."  I wrote them back telling them that would not suffice, that I'm the customer, I pay a lot of money to have them host this site, and that I'd like the courtesy of knowing why these problems keep happening.  If I don't get a response, then I'll call on Tuesday morning and get management on the phone.
