Such a lay-a-bout!

From the time I was 10 Saturday's were usually a full work day; delivering groceries and gardening until my high school years, and then working in a Hospital lab. (If work wasn't too busy, I could sneak away for a Saturday matinee. I would plot out my weekends to maximize my movie viewing - look for double features and strategize transportation; nearby theatres I could reach by bike, those located more city-center required using the bus/trolly/subway system. On a well planned Sunday I could hit two different double features! Sometimes free Saturdays were spent going to center-city and brousing Leary's used book store and cruising the City Parks.

I'll be heading down in a few minutes to check the mail (don't expect much which is always the case the day after a non-delivery holiday), and then I'll start on lunch preparation.

It was fun to see DR’s Arnold, Jose & Michael together with DR ArnoldMBrockman’s lovely wife.

I appreciated the beautiful fireworks photos, the only fireworks I saw this year.

The flight back was very uneventful and peaceful.  Even though it was almost a full flight, it didn't seem to be that crowded on the plane.  -And, even though I was in the last zone to board, there was still plenty of room in the overhead bins for my carry-on - and everyone else's.  *As I was waiting for my checked bag at LGA, I did notice a lot of carry-on-sized bags that had been checked on the conveyor belt.  That was nice, I guess.

The flight got in about 25 minutes early, but, of course, the luggage took a while to get loaded off of the plane and into the terminal.  However, as soon as I stepped out onto the curb, the M60 bus pulled right up, and 20 minutes later I was at the 125th Street stop... And then as soon as I got down to the platform the A Train pulled up... And one stop later...  Ahhhh... :)

Saturday afternoons when I was a kid?

Usually, I would go to the Roycroft Theater in Seattle for a Saturday matinee.  The main attraction was always the latest chapter of the serial.  I had to see how our hero got out of the "fine mess" he was left in the previous week.

The serial I remember most was SUPERMAN (w/Kirk Alyn).  The chief villain in that one was "The Spider Lady".  At the moment, I don't recall the actress' name, but I got to meet her years later and even dated her daughter.

Sadly, the Roycroft no longer exists.

The Roycroft building still stands, but it is now offices.

Oh dear, I should have told this to DR JOSE before he left.

This weekend could be considered a humdinger -- to use that old word and expression. Once you make it through the challenge of the day -- Mercury in Gemini square Uranus in Pisces (4:08AM PDT) - you should be able to have the wind at your back and be raring to go. However, this Mercury-Uranus liaison does arrive with some embedded warning signals. Travel and speak with care. Know where you are going and what you are doing. Anticipate changes in schedules and upheavals before they occur.

But it isn't ALL bad news.

Add some logic and commonsense to your late-afternoon and evening activities. Despite the lunar polarity to dreamy Neptune, this can still be a night for fun and games, party-going and dancing the blues away. Get set for a rather feverish Sunday when intensity reigns and the up-and-coming Mars-Saturn rendezvous in Virgo because a serious factor to consider in your plans.

Better late than never.

DR George - Strangely enough, the one version of 1776 that I usually see sitting in the bins at Virgin is the London production.

Does he need a tour guide. I can take him places he's never been. The places that are not on the tour guide map.

Well... Judging from some of his "tales", I think he's been to some of those places already.

Are we talking drinking water?

Yes.  Well, all the water.  At least in the hotel and at the rehearsal hall.  It was a little disconcerting at the hotel - I kept thinking that I hadn't flushed.  ;)

Our local newspaper infuriated me this morning.

HERE
is their article about our local Olympic hopeful who narrowly missed making the finals in the men's 1500m race.

Couldn't they have told the story a little more positively?

Saturday mornings as a kid, for me, were spent right in front of the TV set. My brother Dan and I were the first to rise in the a.m. and we would head to the living room to watch Bugs Bunny.

Eventually our parents would awaken and make us breakfast. Then it was more cartoons, until the Bowery Boy's movie at 10 am and the Chiller Diller matinee movie at noon.

After those motion picture delights were over then, if it was summer, I would head down the road to either Jana and Crissy's house or Scott and Mark's house.

DS Gabe leaves for a trip to Hawai'i tomorrow with the family of one his friends, which always brings along playmates for their kids.  I am excited for him, but nervous in a too-clingy scary-parent sort of way.  ;) This is the first time he's been this far away from us, under the care of others, in our mutual lives.

I love "1776".

I love the OBC.

I love the OST.

But the movie's complete score is the best of all, IMO.
