A very Happy Birthday to dear Kevin.  I will hug him when I am lucky enough to see him again.  A truly sweet (and might I add, hunky) guy.

Todayt is also my mother's birthday.  This is the first birthday I haven't been able to see her or talk to her.  Since that is not a possibility in the world I inhabit, I shall drink a toast of orange juice in her honor.  I know she's happy and healthy again not on this earth.   :)   Talking with Jeanette MacDonald and Beverly Sills, I hope.

I had to stop at three traffic lights driving in to work.

That's good, because I usually have three others to stop me but they were green this morning.

I'd have to say the high calorie food I'd hate to give up is chocolate. It really is an addiction and one very difficult to curb.

Now, I'm going to play on the computer just a bit and then head downstairs to check the mail and then start preparing lunch.

I saw a wonderful program on the HDTV channel last e'en produced by the National Trust in the UK.

This one was on Hidcote Manor's garden, which has the reputation of being the second greatest garden ever created (Versailles is number one), but which also has the reputation for having influenced gardens and gardening more than any other in the past 50 years.

I started to watch that, but my DH said he had already seen it, so I changed the channel. Then he fell asleep!  :(

TOD:  I guess my favorite "meal" of the low-cal variety would be a spinach salad with chopped hard-boiled eggs, some form of turkey chunks or turkey bacon bits and dressed lightly with olive oil and lemon.

That television program on Hidcote Manor's garden sounds great.

I was quite intrigued.  A number of folks were on camera, most of whom work at Hidcote and have a solid grasp of the garden's history (the creation of ONE man -- an expatriate American!!!).

I love that whole series and looked for them on DVD, but hadn't found it. There was one a few weeks ago on Stourhead in Wiltshire that was fabulous!

I haven't found any of them, either, but Amazon.com does have THIS DVD and it features some of England's greatest gardens including Hidcote and the garden of Vita Sackville-West.

I've received a couple of shipping notices from Amazon.com today.  This is the start of an oncoming onslaught of shipments of things pre-ordered months ago that are finally seeing light of day.  Next month and September will be interesting.

And thanks to some unexplained delay, October yields a future delight -- the second Alice Faye box from Fox.
