I trust you got her plugged back in.

As for her power---it's still out, and since she's the only one in the neighborhood that we know of to have a problem, it may be a few days before it's fixed. There were 150,000 homes without power yesterday, and driving down through town, all of the people who had been dining, etc. were out on the streets waiting for the power to come back on.

As an example:

Greg Haley, who owns this home with Gelix Kuemmerli on Ormwood Ave. SE, picks his way through the rubble Sunday morning. A violent thunderstorm raced through their Grant Park neighborhood Saturday evening and sent a more than 100-year-old oak tree into their 1917 historic home. The tree punctured the house, and daylight could be seen in the living room.

Gotcha.  Apparently, there was some bug going around last week.  Lots of people with flu-like symptoms and stomach issues.  I was healthy, but happened to touch base with a few friends over the past few days, and found that that was the reason they were incommunicado last week.  I hope you feel better as the day goes on.

~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~
*And which DVDs were you watching/wasting last night?
I guess I got it,m because my stomach was a mess all last week.
The DVDs:
SEVEN AND A MATCH, Very "Return of the Secaucus Seven." and I enjoyed it
GRAY MATTERS, Heather Graham fnds she's a lesbian, very cute if contrived comedy
LICENSE TO WED, life is too short; 15 minutes seemed 15 years
MBarnum, where do you find all these hilarious Bollywood captions? Are they real?
do you think our DR MBarnum could think those up?
He has a hard enough time thinking up questions for his ageing interviewees beyond "would you date me?" or "do you find me attractive?" :-*
My beloved sister-in-law Jo called and cheered me up. I also heard from my estate attorney; I think we'll reach a settlement on the accident claim.
Well... It's too nice a day to stay inside - and since I've finally folded the laundry that's been sitting in the basket since Wednesday, well...  ;)
Note: I usually do all this at the laundromat, but we were running out of time the last time we were there; we forgot it was the night they close early.
DR Elmore,
Both SAVING GRACE and IN PLAIN SIGHT do very, very well in the ratings. Not as well as THE CLOSER, of course, but certainly they do nicely. I stopped watching SAVING GRACE last year about 7 episodes in. As much as I loved both Joel and Ken as her boy friends/lovers, I just couldn't stand her character, and the religious material running through it was also a turn-off.
IN PLAIN SIGHT just didn't have enough of a mystery for me, and I really hated the sister and mother characters.
I'm thinking about food - maybe Subway, maybe something from Gelson's (chicken breasts), or maybe something new and surprising.
I began my afternoon watching another CLOSER episode from Season 3 - the murder of the man in the parking lot, and the hilarious revelations of the whole dunderheaded plot.
Back to MONK for a second. I was VERY disappointed in Natalie's turning the way she did. It seemed very out of character for her and only manipulated by the needs of the plot. The mystery was pretty good, but I did not like the characterizations.
Next, I watched FLYING THE SECRET SKY and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved learning something new and surprising about World War II, a heroic story with a nice gathering of people who participated to make the story credible and very interesting.
Next, I finished THUNDERBALL which I had started yesterday. I had started listening to the newly created DTS 5.1 track, but today, I switched over to the Dolby Digital 5.1 track. It seemed louder, though there seemed to be a bit more separation in the DTS track.
I ended up with Monday night's THE MOLE.
I was kind of hoping Nicole would have been eliminated, but was sad to see her stay in the game. I do think Mark is The Mole.
Sunday afternoon greetings!  Richard officiated for morning prayer today and then he and DS Rob and I went to First Watch for lunch.  We made a couple of shopping stops and are now home for the evening.
Anthony has arrived in Wisconsin. He's settled in and has already used the free wireless and made some phone calls. It was a quick two-hour trip from Chicago. He's going to relax and go to bed early since rehearsals start tomorrow.
Going to write for a bit and then head back down for Sunday chores. I will be out for a few hours this evening but should be back at my usual time.
