My review of THIEF is a a day or two away, however. I haven't even finished disc one yet with all of disc two to go! I'm guessing it'll be Saturday morning before I can put it to bed.

See, this is what makes horse racing.  I found the turban to be a little off (we're talking minutiae here, BTW, as I discuss in my review), which is what first alerted me to the red palette.  The MGM turban is a much redder red, if that's at all clear.  Compare the red of Veidt's turban to the glowing red of the all seeing eye sequence (when it's still in the statue), and I, anyway, see a noticeable difference.

I see a difference too, but I simply attributed it to different shades of red.

But some of the differences can also be attributed to different technologies (I'm using DLP/LED, you're using LCD, right?), the calibrations of the sets, etc.

Yep, I have an LCD.  BTW, the repairman finally came yesterday (does anyone recall it was months ago the left speaker went wonky on this thing), and replaced the main board (which Funai had not even sent complete--he had to remove some components off the old board and solder them on to the new one), but it did not solve the problem.  So now he has to come back to replace the power supply (which powers the speakers).  Take my advice, people:  STAY AWAY FROM FUNAI PRODUCTS!!!!

Note to Tomovoz:  Herb Alpert has just confirmed that Lani's LP catalog will indeed be released on CD soon.

Tonight I will attend the Gurdas Maan concert at the Elsinore Theatre....I am quite excited...I have all of his movies and most of his CDs (except the most recent, which I hope will be for sale in the lobby).

I will likely be the only non-Sikh in the audience! What fun!

DR MBARNUM posted yesterday about the passing of John Phillip Law....who is The LOVE Machine - well the substitute LOVE Machine since Brian Kelly got hurt in a motorcycle accident.

However I don't think anyone else has noted the passing last week of Larry LaPrise.....he wrote "The Hokey Pokey."

It was a sad time made worse by circumstances - when the mortician tried to put his left leg in the coffin.....well....you can imagine.

I have seen Gildersleeve in a couple of movies, and the actor had some funny parts on sitcoms.....

I cannot decide if the current DVD I'm reviewing, DAPHNE, (about Daphne DuMaurier's lesbian proclivities) is an earnest drama or some little known Christopher Guest parody.   ;D

The only lesbian fling I know of is her affair with Gertrude Lawrence.

Well thus far in this escapade she hates Gertie and is lusting after Ellen Doubleday.

LOL, DR elmore3003.

We had brown tap water last night too, when we got home.  They were apparently flushing hydrants in our neighborhood yesterday.

Hmmm Nick Musuraca photographed the film version of "Golden Boy" which starred FF on Broadway, but that seems sort of tenuous.

DR ELMORE hopefully the day is getting better for you.

It's certainly screwed up my schedule, not necessarily for the worst since I have things I can work on here.  I just redid some notes in the critical report on the score to Babes In Toyland and I have work as well on the main report and the Appendix notes on The Lady Of The Slipper.
