Hi Ginny.  It was fun traveling to NY with you.  I'm also getting my teeth cleaned tomorrow.  Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

Hi, Jane - one of the only things I missed last week was being able to spend more time here online with you and our friends!

Back from some supper with our very own Mr. Nick Redman.  I shall now watch a DVD, whilst plotzing on my couch like so much fish.

I thought some gang-in-person people were coming out to LA to see Deceit.  Talk about deceit.

That was great!  It's so nice to have all these friends in the city.

I think I forgot to tell about one of the funniest things that happened:  As our guided tour of the American Museum of Natural History was turning left to go see the Pacific Northwest exhibit, I looked right and saw a couple we know from here in Middletown!  They tagged along with the rest of the tour, then we sat down in one of the museum cafes and had a visit until DH Richard and I had to get to the Planetarium for our 1pm show.  We never see Ron and Suzanne here at home!

Today's ellpee cover is more comedy. This from the esteemed Pete Ustinov, from when he was small enough to fit under a racecar hood...

I agree with you on THE SQUID, Jane. It seemed kinda short, ending rather suddenly. More of an atmosphere than a full plot, really. But great acting.

I know of a few Matt fans making a return visit to the play and some are bringing friends....

BLEAK HOUSE is quite sweeping and wonderful.  Like the novel, the characters are thrown fast and furious at you, so I'm still sorting them out.  The cast is quite wonderful and I like the various colors used, rather gray for the London settings, quite bright and colorful in the country.  I don't know where it's going, but Charles Dance seems quite treacherous and Gillian Anderson seems fraught with tragedy from her past.  I recommend it highly, and I think I will order the DVD.

I guess we do disagree, I don't expect the judges to be all nice and mushy, but they don't need to be rude.  I really enjoyed the show last season and this year the judges have ruined it.  The contestants were wincing when they had to go to the judges. That isn't right. They can give constructive criticism without being nasty. Maybe it's just my take on it.  If they are that nasty next week I won't watch anymore - not worth it.

It's okay to disagree.  I guess I just remember the show differently last season. Cause they were really mean to eventual winner Kelly Monaco.

Other than P Master, I thought they were quite nice to almost every contestant.  They were a bit harsh on the person who got voted out.  But they were actually quite nice to most of the celebs, IMO.

I watched Desperate Housewives (which i won't comment on till tomorrow). And just now I was watching Skating with Celebrities.  I guess I also can't comment on that one, since it only airs on FOX tomorrow.  I really think they made a huge mistake by pretaping this one.  And airing it a day earlier in canada (when their are eliminations) seems idiotic.

I just read about some totally bizarre tv scheduling moves by NBC. They are moving The Apprentice to Monday nights after the gameshow To Deal Or Not to Deal.  The whole thing about Survivor and Apprentice is that they are on Thursdays!  They shouldn't mess with a good thing!

Got a pleasant surprise with HOSTAGE. It was a bit more complicated than I was expecting it to be, and in tone and tension, it was very much like Bruce Willis' earlier success MERCURY RISING.

No, not a great film, but as a thriller, I enjoyed it pretty well. Like several recent movies, it had a wonderful and unusual main title sequence.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES had an entertaining episode with some new conundrums for some of the ladies. Finally the Applewhites are justifying their existence on the street.

CROSSING JORDAN had a couple of interesting cases and some very definite climaxes in the lives of Jordan and Garrett. Next week's show should be really explosive.

Deciding on what DVD to watch next - the ones on the table are wildly divergent in terms of subject matter.

I had to make a quick trip to the ATM, and it is really raw outside right now: very cold, misting rain, and just an awful winter night.

Yet, the five day forecast predicts temps in the low 60s for much of this week.

THE APPRENTICE has seen better days, and NBC had no choice but to move it. Were it still bringing in top ratings like SURVIVOR, I feel sure NBC would have left it where it was, but the ratings have dropped with each successive edition, and NBC decided to rebuild its two hour comedy block on Thursday. I can't say I'm sorry to see it go somewhere else.

Question is, where will LAS VEGAS be moved? I'm guessing either to SUnday at 8 or Friday at 9.

They are committed to ER for another couple of years, but its Top 10 days as a ratings winner are over, too, so I wouldn't be surprised in another year to see it moved off Thursday night.
