And Forbidden Broadway:SVU was fun too... and funny... and sort of awkward tonight too.  There were only about 30 people in the audience tonight, and they had a new guy going on for the first time tonight too.  However, we were all laughing with them on stage, rather than at them.

Full night of TV here, but a lengthy couple of phone conversations meant I didn't get to see anything prior to network TV kicking in.

AMERICAN IDOL spoilers - - - - -

I found it for the most part an off night for the vocalists. For a change, I agreed with the judges. The singers have mostly fine voices, but song selection tonight left me feeling unsatisfied even with the best vocalists in the competition.

Among the worst have to be Heather (a beautiful girl with the most average voice remaining among the ladies) and the obnoxious, annoying, and mediocre Brenna.

Brenna marked her way through "Last Dance" and then proclaimed that it was an excellent performance! I'm glad SHE enjoyed it. I hope folks aren't keeping her around just for controversy sake or to see what further braying she can do about her talent and looks. She has GOT to go.

For me, the best performance of the night, and the most surprising compared to her quavery performance last week, was Ayla.

SCRUBS' second episode (the first is on the DVR due to IDOL being 90 minutes) was very funny. I hope the show gets another season to shine. Its ratings haven't been great or horrible, so these next few weeks will tell the story for it.

And THE SHIELD continues to mine outstanding drama out of what could be a formulaic cop show. Instead, its originality in characters and plots continues to grip. Just love this show.

Tomorrow, I'll get to enjoy SUPERNATURAL, the other SCRUBS episode, LAW & ORDER: SVU, and THE CLOSER. Wow!

I might not get to LADY & THE TRAMP until the weekend.

Today is Zero Mostel's birthday.  He was born in 1915.  He would have been 91 years old, if he were still alive.

Sunday was Jackie Gleason's birthday.  He was born in 1916.

I don't know when either of them died.

And that's Today's Useless Trivia of the Day. ;)

Zero Mostel died a few days after my parents saw him in THE MERCHANT, a play he was trying-out in Philly.  I think that was 1977.

Here's a pic of the dress my sis picked out for me for her wedding.  Please keep in mind I have no makeup on and my hair is a hot mess.   :D

I met the Punk after her classes tonight and we ate at a diner. I purchased a used CD by Julian Cope while I waited for to meet her. Uh... not too much else exciting to report.

Here was a great typo in the NY Post today, talking about great hotel hangouts in LA. Mentions the Chateau Marmont, "made famous by Jim Belushi dying there."

Today on my sick day I watched 10 episodes in a row of the old 1959-61 cops show LOCK UP. That is all.

Actually that is not all...I LOVE that show LOCK UP. It was such a good police show..stars McDonald Carey and John Doucette and had lots of nifty B actors as guest stars...Joan Taylor, Adele Mara, Britt Lomond, Guy Stockwell, Connie Hines, Lori Nelson, Burt Nelson and other names that probably mean absolutely nothing to anyone here! LOL!

My mother had a great heart, when she was sober.  She was a bit like the girl with the curl. :)

You mean....
There was a little girl
who had a little curl
right in the middle of her forehead
when she was good
she was very very good,
when she was bad, she was popular.

Sorry - I know you're talking about your mother. My grandmother used to say the real words about me, but I like this version better

Oh, here's an LP cover. "I Love Accordions" by the Bell Accordion Symphony, a bunch of young-looking 50s kids from Chicago. Why do we not have accordion symphonies anymore? My mom took accordion lessons.

Good Evening!

Well... I was able to sort of crash the group sales presentation for Mary Poppins, and managed to snag some swag in the process too: a CD sampler, and a parrot-head umbrella(!).  Actually, I snagged two - with the assistance of DR Jason.  I'm keeping one for myself, and then giving one to Steve since he is the one who introduced me to "Mary Poppins" in the first place.  *I hadn't seen the movie in it's entirety until about five years ago.  And since I'm heading back down this weekend, I can present it to him sooner than later.

I have an original Mary Poppins doll...hmmm wonder where that is....I know it's not with Mrs. Beasley, she's here somewhere....or is she still in the closet at the old house....

Happy Fat Tuesday to one and all.   I celebrated by making a shrimp and sausage gumbo while listening to the blues and dixieland from New Orleans (not at the same time), dancing around the kitchen while cooking and enjoying every bite.

AHHHHH   I don't participate in Ash Wednesday, but how can I pass up Fat Tuesday!!!!

Oh Cillaliz, don't leave Mrs. Beasley behind!

I would NEVER leave her behind. I still have a few loads to go. I'm moving on the slow and painful plan...it never ends.... Actually I've been taking the weekdays off from moving since I'm working and doing it on the weekend. This weekend there is some minor repair work at the old house that my handyman and his helper will do. In the meantime, I'll be packing up my car to the gills so I can maybe just do it in one trip....and yes, a Prius has gills on one side, it's the air vent for the big battery!

I think, as George mentioned, the 20s and the 40s both had style and good looking fashion. The 70s and 80s produced some of the ugliest fashions in recent memory (although some stuff from the 60s creep in there as well).

I agree Ben, some of the stuff from the 1980s was downright scary

Hope all those who weren't feeling so hot this am are feeling better.  DR Elmore, I didn't want to get up today either and thought about calling in sick, but instead just took my time and told them I was running late. By the end of the day I got my energy back and just worked a little later.

DR CP - get well vibes - I detest having a cold. It's terrible.  Is Lemsip anything like the lemon flavored Theraflu?

DRMBarnum - vibes to you.

Vibes to anyone I'm forgetting who needs or wants them
