I didn't forget.  I was about to post.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINX!.   What special treat did she get today?  Echo will be nine on March 9th.

Minx' special treat will be a rib-eye steak for dinner.

Right now, she is actually looking at the tv screen!  THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN has just begun - she's quite fond of explosions on dvd.  Myself, I'm fond of bombs, hence LXG.

Here is this week's Christopher Meloni picture of choice.
I could have put one of his "unseemly butto" OUT of underwear snapshots up but this being a family site, I chose this one instead.

:P  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P
. . .and not a bad choice, either!
Remember, you can't post the "bucket" picture on a family site, either, sadly enough.

Yes the bucket photos, the shower shots, many others from OZ are too NC-17 for this site. Next week, a shot from one of his situation comedies.

Who needs frozen nuts?  We have fresh nuts right here at haineshisway.com, any day of the week.  You will not find more nuts in one place, therefore not only are we the ginchiest, we're the nuttiest.

I don't know who NEEDS frozen nuts, but, Minx still insists on early morning and late night walks in spite of the temperatures. . .

I've gotta say it, if no one else does:  Mr. Stuart Townsend, who plays Dorian Gray in LXG, is the actor whom Viggo Mortesen REPLACED in THE LORD OF THE RING sagas.
So, when you're watching LXG or QUEEN OF THE DAMNED, remember that, and think of what might have been.

MBarnum.  As far as I know there is no Oz in Oz either.  I think td should review the show and sent us both copies.

18th October 1999:

Jackson Fires Flies Star

Only days after shooting began on Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy for New Line, Jackson has fired one of the stars, Irish actor Stuart Townsend (Shooting Fish (1997)), the London Daily Telegraph reported today (Monday). Claire Raskind, a spokeswoman for the production, confirmed reports that first appeared in the Hollywood trade papers last week concerning "creative differences" between Jackson and Townsend. According to the newspaper, producers are negotiating with Viggo Mortensen (Walk on the Moon, A (1999)) to take over the role.

Yes, you did, but the first two seasons are available on DVD, and the third was announced last year but has yet to arrive. Chris didn't appear until the middle of the second season, but his episodes that year and in season 3 are absolutely electrifying. The snapshot I have above was from what HBO called Season 4.2, but it was actually season 5.

Der Brucer certainly knows where to find the boys and the booze.  :-\

I would think that Mammy Yokum would say that Daisy Mae's horizons are broad enough!   :-* :-*

DRWEL - My Joan McCracken book is on the way, I have never heard of the GOLDEN LADIES book, but oh my!  And of course, you can't slander a dead person, so the author can write as he/she wishes.  I had heard something like the Jeannette story you tell, but it could have been a review of said book.  I am a bit put out at the Norma Shearer story - don't believe that one - but then again....I think I will buy it and read it for myself.  ;)

Thanks for Hitchcock link Dr. Carl - I saw that episode for the first time last year!  :o

DR MBARNUM I forgot to ask you, when you were out until 4 am! last Friday at the Egyptian restaurant, did you have any of the bobaganoush?

Actually there are countries where you can be sued if you slander a dead person.

Me thinks I am missing out by never having seen the show OZ!!

I've only seen two episodes of Oz; on the second, there was a number of extremely violent scenes, which actually horrified me so much, I lost a night of sleep.  I watch a lot of horror movies, too, and I am not squeamish by any stretch of the imagination.  But the violence on Oz I found truly unsettling.

To DR Charles Pogue: I agree with you that Hammer's She isn't a good adaptation of H. Rider Haggard's novel, but I still enjoy the movie anyway.  The earlier (RKO?) version wasn't very faithful to the source material either.  I remember reading the novel as a wee lad, and being crushed, absolutely crushed, when She showed up on late-night teevee, and saw that the setting of the movie was in the Arctic!  Still, after I got over the shock, I rather enjoyed the movie*.  I've long since given up seeing any of Haggard's (or Edgar Rice Burroughs, for that matter) novels adapted to the screen properly.

*BYU has released Mr. Steiner's score on CD.  You probably already know that, but if you don't...well, here's the cover.  Damned cool artwork, eh?

Very true. There is much violence in the series OZ. However, it's set in a maximum security prison with the most hardened of criminals, so you go into the series knowing the potential for extreme violence is there. I guess that's what makes the tenderness that cropped up in the series so stunning. The contrasts of those two extremes were always amazing and moving to me.

Oh, and since it's "Ask BK" day:

Do you enjoy the comic strip Li'l Abner as much as the musical?  Have you been getting the latest reprints of the comic  from Dark Horse Books?

Ann -- It is very nice to have you back in town.  I'll keep an eye out for you at Safeway.

By the way, in case you are interested, the Tacoma Little Theatre is hosting an 85th Anniversary Gala concert on March 5 and 6 celebrating the musicals and the talent that have performed on their stage during the past eight and one half decades.  Tacoma Little Theatre is the oldest continuously oeprating community theater west of the Mississippi River.  Since I am probably the only actor who has been around for all 85 years, (just ask Tomovoz) I will be taking part in the show.   It is shaping up to be a spectacular evening.  Tickets are still available.

If you went grocery shopping this afternoon and you ran into Ms. Leslie Parrish in the produce aisle what would you say to her?

Nice casabas!
