Well, you've read the notes, you know about their lateness, their lateness knows about you, and now it is time to post until the late cows come home.

If you've read the notes already, reread them because we've got us a birthday to celebrate.

I'm posting at 3:20 AM because strange noises in the living room/office/kitchen (it's all one big room) woke me. I thought it was the wonderdog, but discovered he was in my bed, snoring at my feet. So I came out to investigate and found nothing amiss or even amister. But as I was up anyway...

Jose - our birthday approaches!  8)

Lovely photos from DRGEORGE yesterday!

Hmmmmmmmm....favorite episodes of TZ and OL?

One always makes me think of ANOTHER one....but I will start:

TZ:

The Monsters are Due on Maple Street
Terror at 20,000 Feet

MANY MANY more, but I will leave some for the other DR's.

OL:  Not sure of the title, but David McCallum plays a scientist who invents a machine that "evolutionizes" him....he keeps going into it and becoming a more and more advanced human speciman.

Okay:  RE: Darby O'Gill.

I know that CinemaScope uses a lense to squeeze a wide picture onto a frame of film (some other processes do also, or turn the film sideways like VistaVision) - that is why the credits squeeze the picture up - BUT

If a film is shot full frame, then cropped to fill a widescreen....why isn't the image stretched out?  I don't understand how a frame can be widened just by taking off the top and bottom....isn't it just as wide as it is and no wider?

Twilight Zone

So many and did a search that many episodes made the favorites from series querry sometime back.

There are just so many of them.
Don't have the time to look up the actually names, but as someone mentioned before even the bad episodes were good. In my opinion that the reason new episodes that they filmed for the two revivals were not successful that they were not in the spirit of the original episodes.

Example:  From the first revival. Man wakes up one day to slowly discover that words start to have different meanings. At the end he has to relearn English.

Now in my opinion what was wrong with the episode is that WHY did it happen to him. It would be have been more intresting if the man was a fanatic about the English language always correcting people about word usuage and grammar. AND THEN wakes up one morning to find that words have totally different meanings.

Twilight Zone:

My favorite episode is one that not many people seem to remember.  It takes place in a darkened room with a number of people who are dressed in various costumes (i.e. ballerina, soldier, teddy bear, etc.).  They don't know how they got there.  There are no windows and doors, except for a light high above them.  After bickering, they decide to cooperate and try to reach the top.  In the end, it turns out they are all toys in a donation barrel for Christmas!  What an ironic twist ;)

Does anyone else remember this episode?

Yep, I remember it. I think it was called "Five Characters in Search of an Exit" or something like that. Very offbeat episode.

My favorite is called "Twenty-Two." It's about the exotic dancer who keeps having dreams of going to the basement of a hospital where the morgue is, an eerie looking nurse bursting through the door and exclaiming, "Room for one more, honey." Features a marvelously ironic ending, but just that creepy nurse and the fact that this was one of the few TZ episodes shot on videotape rather than film (to save money) makes it very disturbing and unusual.

As for OUTER LIMITS, I have vaguer memories of it, and haven't sprung for either of the DVD sets of its two season run. But I remember one episode in particular which takes place, I think, on Mars where the expedition members keep disappearing one by one. No one knows who's doing the killing or what's happening to the bodies. Come to find out there is a monster on Mars that lives beneath the sand, and it had been dragging the doomed settlers under the sand to devour them.

I am so proud of myself. I actually went out walking yesterday afternoon. It was coolish, the sun being behind rain clouds but no rain was forthcoming. My legs were aching by the time I got home (the last half of the walk was uphill), but I felt wonderfully tired, and I certainly dropped off quickly when I finally lay down last night.

Highly recommended!

Some favorite TWILIGHT ZONES:

THE MONSTERS ARE DUE ON MAPLE STREET –Neighbor turning against neighbor in an all-American town
THE BARD – Shakespeare comes back to help a blocked TV writer (I relate to this one, man!)
KICK THE CAN – residents of an old folks home find the source of eternal youth
MINIATURE – w. Robert Duvall – Shy man sees a world he likes better inside a museum dollhouse
NIGHTMARE AT 20,000 FEET – William Shatner looks out his window on a plane and sees a monster on the wing (This one still makes me think twice about looking out my plane window.)
TIME ENOUGH TO LAST – Burgess Meredith as a myopic, book-loving bank teller who is the last man on earth
THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER – A terribly ugly young woman waits to see if the operation to make her “normal" has succeeded
WALKING DISTANCE (w. Gig Young) – An unhappy man goes back to the town of his youth
THEL LAST FLIGHT – An airman returns to the moment of his WWI cowardice
NICK OF TIME –(w. William Shatner) – A young couple stop in a small town diner and stumble across a machine which can predict the future.

I'm sure I'll think of others as the day goes on. What an incredible show that was!

Yes.  Strangely, our local PBS station usually sees this episode as festive fare to broadcast on Christmas Eve.

How odd! Especially since there's that memorable Art Carney-Christmas themed episode "Night of the Meek."

A lot of my favorrite TZs have been mentioned, but one that has not was about a girl who lived with her scientist father and a household full of robots and in the end discovered--well, I don't want to give it away...

The Outer Limits scared the bejesus out of me when I was a kid.  It wasn't until they passed into syndication that I was able to relax and watch and appreciate the show.  Some favorites that come to mind are:

It Crawled Out of the Woodwork
The Galaxy Being (the scariest!)
The Zanti Misfits(or Attack of the Cooties!)
Demon With the Glass Hand
Controlled Experiment (a very funny episode)

I also remember an episode that I can't find the title of.  Something about a couple (Eddie Albert was the husband) who are stranded on an old abandoned farm (shades of Green Acres) and attacked by plagues of frogs and tumbleweeds.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks for the weekend posts re: PNW HHW gathering....it is always a delight to see what some of the DRs actually look like.  And -- no offense intended -- but, DR Jane, more and more, I see where your son's looks come from.  You are one hot mama!

And what a "small world" story about DR JMK (and Betsy's) rabbi being a cousin of DR DIT!

And, FYI, DR/DB Jay, there's a VERSE to that song too! It begins:
"It's a world of laughter, a world of fun..."
But then I forget the lyrics.  However, I remember the chorus:
"It's a sm................"

No, I just can't do it to all you lovely readers out there in the dark.....

Twilight Zone?  Outer Limits?  I guess my favorite episodes would be the ones that DIDN'T give me nightmares!  But, never having been a fan of science fiction, I was never a big fan of either series, though the episodes I recall having seen are some of the classics, I guess.....and I think DR Panni mentioned them all.  Except for the Leg of Lamb episode.

It's a sm ...

Funny,
you're a stranger who's come here,
come from another town.
Funny, I'm a stranger myself here.
Small world, isn't it?

Funny, you're a man who goes traveling
rather than settling down.
Funny, 'cause I'd love to go traveling.
Small world, isn't it?

We have so much in common,
it's a phenomenon.
We could pool our resources
by joining forces from now on.

Lucky, you're a man who likes children.
That's an important sign.
Lucky, I'm a woman with children.
Small world, isn't it?
Funny, isn't it small and funny and fine?

Apparently, dear reader Matt H has never read a Kritzer book, for if he had he would know immediately that "22" and "Room for one more, honey" were a prominent part of one chapter in Kritzer Time.

Walking Distance is my favorite Twilight Zone, for many reasons, including it's stunning original Bernard Herrmann score.  I'm also fond of The Fever with Everett Sloane (Fraaaanklin) and, well, they're all in Kritzerland and Kritzer Time.

Outer Limits has many fine and weird episodes - I especially like It Crawled Out of the Woodwork and The Zanti Misfits, both directed, I believe, by the strange Gerd Oswald.

TZ:  what about the wonderful episode with former DR Aura 18 and J. Pat O'Malley?  Or the creepy one where the kid (was it Billy Mumy) rolls under the bed into the alternate universe.  Or the other one with the creepy kid (definitely Billy Mumy) who terrorizes the town and turns the unfortunate man into a jack-in-the-box (I still have nightmares about that shadow image on the wall).

Since you guys are horror trivia buffs, can anyone identify two different episodes of something I saw when I was a kid.  These must have been TZ ripoffs, like Terror or One Step Beyond.  I only have very faint memories of them, but here goes:

1.  In this one, a guy finds a fortune teller like machine (it was a robotic looking sitting woman) who told his fortune.  I believe it ends with him touching her and getting electrocuted.

2.  In this one, it had something to do with flying aces--biplanes and such.  And all I remember is a big closeup at the end and one of the planes was being flown by a skeleton.

Ring any bells with anyone?

There were a couple of segments from the new Twilight Zone that ran on CBS in the early 90s that I liked.  One with Bruce Willis as a man who discovers that his double is taking over his life--I thought it was very profound.  Another was about two brothers who were investigating their geneticist father's disappearance in a large warehouse littered with the dried, dead bodies of giant-sized animals.

Thank you, one and all, for the kind birthday greetings!  Is there a more perfect place on the internet to celebrate your big day than at HHW???

What an incredible day to be born!  Sharing my day of birth with Gene Kelly, Barbara Eden, River Phoenix, and of course, Queen Noor (don’t go there, td)?  And who else can claim, on their day in history, the death of Rudolph Valentino, the execution of Sacco and Vanzetti, and the defection of Alexander Godunov?

I took the day off work, my computer is working without a hitch, and I am being given “loves” by Angel and Nicky – life is good!

Oh, happy, happy day!

Oh, Joy!

Oh, Rapture!

The postman has just delivered to me an original, mint-condition, gloriously vibrant ORIGINAL window card to "Mack and Mabel."

It cost me a "minor" fortune on eBay and is worth every cent I paid for it!

I won't be paying minor fortunes, much less pittances, for some time.  It's a combination birthday and Christmas present to myself.

I am overwhelmed and thrilled and excited and beside myself with glee!

Just thought I'd share that with ya, even if it's "too much."

Yes, Ben, but can you claim Valentino's birth on your day, since he died on mine?

Favorite "Twilight Zone" episodes:
THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
KICK THE CAN
NICK OF TIME
NIGHTMARE AT 20,000 FEET

Another one that I really liked (but I don't know the title) is the one where Anne Francis goes to a department store, looking for a thimble for her mother (or someone) and it turns out that she's really a mannequin!

Yes, that leg of lamb was from ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS and was called "Lamb to the Slaughter."

I remember WAY OUT with nightmarish glee. I found it even scarier and creepier than THE TWILIGHT ZONE (sadly only lasted half a season). I remember one episode called "Button, Button, Who's Got the Button" that left me trembling.

Looking at Michael Shayne's list of all the episodes reminded me that there were several of these that I taught in my classes either in their teleplay form (THE MONSTERS ARE DUE ON MAPLE STREET) or in their original short story form. My students always loved "To Serve Man."

The “some homemade Jewish bread” MBarnum mentioned was a terrific hallah (egg bread) and I am waiting for the recipe.

If I had the ability to write as well as MBarnum I would say exactly the same things regarding George,  the Kaufman family and the evening.  I will return the compliment to Michael and add he has a smile that lights up a room-you should see those dimples up close.

Yes, the chocolate zucchini cake was very moist and delicious.  Surprise, surprise, I opted for a tofu dog instead of a Boca burger.

Yes George, Betsy’s mother did the artwork the photos don't do justice to.

It was a very exciting moment for me when I made the rabbi/cousin connection. :D

I didn’t expect to end the evening with party favors.  :) Once I wake up I will listen to them.  I am exhausted not having slept much over the weekend.  The overnight bus trip home was nice enough but I only dozed on and off.  I’m sure I will crash before the day is over.

Coming soon, my versions of the same NW group pose.

Good Mor... Well, Good Afternoon!

I let myself have a nice lazy morning listening to the radio, and the extra rest seems to have helped.  I realized that even though I was technically "off" yesterday, I didn't take the day off.  Lots of walking, lots of shopping, lots of walking.  The extra hour or two staying off my feet this morning was much needed.  -And after staying up relatively late last night too...

Now I'm about to "get domestic", and then run an errand or two...  but before I go...

DR Jane,

It was very exciting for Jeff, as well - and especially exciting for me. Now let's see how the rabbi reacts. Betsy or Jeff will be taking the next step - passing along my greetings and e-mail address. (My cousin and I had very close family ties when we were young. I adored his mom (my aunt), and he was very close to mine. However, I think it's about 30 years since we last saw each other.)

BTW, you write very well. And your photographs are great. And you make the very nicest connections. I can't say anything about your dimples, though.

Tomovoz you became a God while I wasn’t looking-CONGRATULATIONS!
if you like Pat Conroy, read THE BRIDGE by Doug Marlette.  Are your new books about a Ladies Detective Agency?

Danise test a foam bed in the store-I did and it killed my back within minutes.  Instead we got an air mattress, for me.  Keith likes it & I’m not thrilled.  On the plus side it is light weight and easy to lift when making the bed.

Stuart thank you for your sweet compliment.
I agree with you, the episodes that didn’t scare me were the best.  When my brain begins to function again I will remember which episodes those were.  Someone just solved my problem... :D

Michael Shayne thank you for the list!  LITTLE GIRL LOST is one of my two favorite Twilight Zone episodes.  My other favorite is TWO with Elizabeth Montgomery and Charles Bronson.  I always enjoyed THE FUGITIVE very much.

Dan-in-Toronto making connections is sooo much fun and thanks.  I feel like I need to meet your cousin now. :)

Matt H your welcome.  I had even more fun taking the pictures.

Panni, scary?  They are soft and sweet and run up and down you with their soft little feet that tickle.  They also run up and down walls or simply up prior to leaping back down to the floor.  At night they cuddled with me for briefs moments before tearing around again.  One night it sounded as if they were playing hockey with something.  In the morning I discovered I had dropped a cellophane wrapped hard candy on the floor. LOL

Jennifer does that answer your second question? ;D

Sugar Gliders are marsupials that glide (like a flying squirrel) and like sweet foods.  They are only scary when they are scared, at which time they make a horrendous noise.  Mostly they are quiet.  Sometimes they make little clicking noises to express they are happy or little barking noises when they want the other one to come play.  For a little more information… http://www.skinhorse.net/gliders/

My mom sent me this.  I got a few hearty laughs out of it, too!

This comes from a Catholic elementary school test. Kids were asked questions about the Old and New Testaments. The following statements about the Bible were written by children. They have not been retouched or corrected (i.e., incorrect spelling has been left in).

1. In the first book of the bible, Guinessis, God got tired of creating the world, so he took the Sabbath off.

 2. Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree. Noah's wife was called Joan of Ark. Noah built an ark, which the animals come on to in pears.

3. Lot's wife was a pillar of salt by day, but a ball of fire by night.

4. The Jews were a proud people and throughout history they had trouble with the unsympathetic Genitals.

5. Samson was a strongman who let himself be led astray by a Jezebel like Delilah.

6. Samson slayed the Philistines with the axe of the Apostles.

7. Moses led the Hebrews to the Red Sea, where they made unleavened bread which is bread without any ingredients.

8. The Egyptians were all drowned in the dessert. Afterwards, Moses went up on Mount Cyanide to get the ten amendments.

9. The first commandment was when Eve told Adam to eat the apple.

10. The seventh commandment is thou shalt not admit adultery.

11 Moses died before he ever reached Canada. Then Joshua led the Hebrews in the battle of Geritol.

12. The greatest miracle in the Bible is when Joshua told his son to stand still and he obeyed him.

13. David was a hebrew king skilled at playing the liar. He fought the Finklesteins, a race of people who lived in Biblical times.

14. Solomon, one of David's sons, had 300 wives and 700 porcupines.

15. When Mary heard that she was the mother of Jesus, she sang the Magna Carta.

16. When the three wise guys from the east side arrived, they found Jesus in the manager.

17. Jesus was born because Mary had an immaculate contraption.

18. St. John the blacksmith dumped water on his head.

19. Jesus enunciated the Golden Rule, which says to do one to others before they do one to you. He also explained, a man doth not live by sweat alone.

20. It was a miracle when Jesus rose from the dead and managed to get the tombstone off the entrance.

21. The people who followed the lord were called the 12 decibels.

22. The epistles were the wives of the apostles.

23. One of the oppossums was St. Matthew who was also a taxman.

24. St. Paul cavorted to Christianity. He preached holy acrimony, which is another name for marriage.

25. Christians have only one spouse. This is called monotony

You are correct, sir.  A huge number of A&M releases got out in Japan (they all have POCM catalog identifiers) before Verve, then Universal, got around to releasing them stateside.  We A&M fans are STILL waiting for all the Wechter albums to be released, and, sadly, will probably have a lot longer to wait, as the powers that be seem content to reissue only the mega-sellers (over and over and over, I might add) from the A&M catalog.  Hence, the fourth re-release of Sergio's "Fool on the Hill" later this year (not that I'm complaining, Sergio-phile that I am).

Roast marsupial?

Hamster, hamster by candle light.
Do it in a casserole is doing it right.
When they're in season, they're pretty pleasin'.
Hamster sandwich, hamster and cheese.
Hamster sandwiches with mayoneeze,
are delicious, and so nutritious.

You can dice, you can slice and filet them.
Cut off their heads and sauté them.
And into the oven you shove,
smells like hamster love.

Hamster curry, or pickled toes,
Australian hamster tails, any good chef knows
how to make them, or just shake and bake them.
For breakfast, for lunch or while dining,
as a snack munch their deep-fried fur lining.
Into your mouth with a shove,
tastes like hamster love.

Glad to see DR Jane posting again.  You were missed but I loved the pictures of the gathering.  Someday we need to hold a HHW gathering where everyone can come and say "Hello!".

I think the sugar gliders are adorable.

I have to tell you all about my LadyBug story.  A guy a work had a Lady Bug on his shirt so he brought it to me because he heard I would be upset if he just killed it and he knew if anyone would be able to take care of it, I would. Smart man because I would have been VERY upset he had hurt it.

So I took my EFT (that's Emergency Fish Tank to those not up on the lingo  i.e. plastic cup with holes in lid) that was in this case a ELBH (Emergency Lady Bug Holder) and put the little thing in there until I could bring her home and turn her loose in my garden.  The city Lady Bug is now a country Lady Bug.  Well, I couldn't just let her go in the city, could I?  She would have gotten smashed on someones windshield!

I'm also assuming it was, indeed, a LADY Bug and not a Gentleman Bug.  I'm not sure what the correct title is for a male Lady bug.   ???

And I kept thinking:

Lady bug, Lady bug
Fly away home.
Your house is on fire,
Your children may burn.

What a horrible rhyme when you stop and think about it.  The loss of one's home and possibly your children as well.  Ugh.

Anyway, my boss had a fit and told me that if the Lady Bug got out of that ELBH and got on her it was going to refect on my next eval.  She said the same thing the last time when it was a lizard in the cup.

What can I say?  Some people let the smallest things bother them. :D

Danise - I don't know if this is international, but in Hungary lady bugs are signs of great good luck. So, as well as doing a good deed for the lady bugs of the world, you've brought yourself Good Luck.

I took another walk tonight despite its being much hotter and more humid today. I think these walks are more to make one feel good about himself for the effort that accomplishing anything physical. Maybe in a few weeks, I'll be able to tell a difference.

Panni now I’m wondering if the good luck is international.  I should ask Craig to find out about Romania.

Danise Keith says the good luck has already begun because it will reduce the bugs in your garden.

I came into chat 20 minutes late [I'm at work and had to work and chat at the same time (a Mary Rodgers reference)].  Now I must leave work, get dinner, then go home!

DR Danise,
I liked your lady bug story. I have always been fascinated by lady bugs and would NEVER kill one on purpose. They are such harmless and helpful bugs I cannot see why anyone would be wanting to harm one.

Good Evening!

Sorry I missed chat - it's just sooo "early" for me right now.  ;)

I also headed out for a bit to stretch my legs and get some air - and do some more window shopping and price checking and comparing.

And now I'm just vegging out in front of the TV for a bit...

Laters...

Beautiful photo, DR Laura. Had a take-out grilled veggie plate from the Daily Grill for dinner. It was SO huge, I couldn't even get through half of it. It was really good, though.

Hey there, everyone.  Sorry to have been E&T, but it's been an interesting few days of late.

I'll concentrate on the most recent event.  I got fired today.

Well, terminated is a better word, and with just cause.  I was violating one of the company policies, and had been warned to not do so, but did so again, force of habit on collecting data on my own performance from the company I used to work for.  For the company I've been working for, for the last few months, this data collection is not acceptable behavior.  However, on Sunday I did it again, was caught by one of my friends at work, and much as he didn't want to, he had to report it to our boss.

It's just as well, because I reported it to my boss myself first thing when I went in to work today.  And she reluctantly had to let me go.

No animosity towards the boss; she's been one of the best I've had in years.  And no animosity towards any of my co-workers...well, save one, but not the one who had to report my actions.

The good news is that I have a much stronger belief in myself as a worker.  This was my first job in retail, one I didn't know I could do well, and my boss was very pleased with my work.  So I now know there are things I can do that I didn't think I could before this job.

The bad news is that I'm off job-hunting again as of tomorrow.

After a haircut.  I need a haircut.

And shoes.  I need new shoes.

And I've got to get the laundry done.

 :-\

DR Elmore hopes to be back by the end of the week. I don't think he'll mind my quoting a bit of his note:
" I appreciate all the love, support, wishes, vibes you all send my way, and believe me, I feel like I can use any and all directed my way. ...I really do look on most of you as my nuclear family...  You're all quite dear to me, and I'm dying to know all about the Northwest reunion this weekend.
...Believe me, I will return, and I'm lucky so much good will comes my way from a group of global strangers I've come to care for so much."

     ***GOOD HEALTH VIBES TO ELMORE!***

Elsewhere on the news here in Rehoboth, der Brucer is seriously considering adopting another dog.

Kelsey's passing, however timely, has left a void, and while most people would consider four dogs quite enough (if not more than), der B. is reacting by wanting to fill that void.

It started a couple of days ago, when he was driving me to my job.  A couple of labradors came galumphing down the street, happy to see people and friendly as all get out.  (We know this, because der B. stopped and opened the car door, and they both came over to say hello.)  After dropping me off at work, he of course had to do a search for their owners.

It turned out their owners were a family staying for the week at a neighbor's house, glad to be reunited with said labs.

But next der B. was checking on-line, and found a rescue operation running locally for dalmatians.  There is one in particular, a young male who is deaf but a dear and in need of a home, who we may be meeting soon.

This story will be continued at a later time.  I've got several days worth of notes to catch up on.

Someday, I'm going to have to try having a boring life, just to see what it's like.

Well... I think I'm going to turn in early.  I was still feeling slightly "off" today, and I think I just need to rest.  I started counting up all the walking I've been doing lately, and I realized I've been logging in at least 4 miles a day just on my "commute".  Then add on top of that some of the detours and sight-seeing I've been doing...  Hey, at least it's exercise!  I also need to stop staying up late(r) just because I can.

So, call me a "wussburger" - at least for tonight.   ???

Goodnight.

Happy Birthday to TCB!!!!! I hope the cake was good and that you will give us a cake report tomorrow!

Feel better vibes to Elmore ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Good job hunting vibes to SWW. ~~~~~~~~~

I'm glad you liked the photo, DiT. The colors were gorgeous and I was lucky to catch them before they disappeared.

Hopefully I will wake up early enough for a nice walk in the morning. It's been cooler this August than any I remember, so I should take advantage of that.

When Reprise! does their two-week run of a show (the current one is Brigadoon), they usually try to fill their "dark" Monday night at the Freud Playhouse with some kind of one-night-only event.

Tonight it was a presentation of Jones and Schmidt's I Do!  I Do!  Miss Diana Canova and Mr. Harry Groener were the featured performers, accompanied by two pianos.  These two artists did a two week run of this show in June in Cape Cod, so they were off-book, a rarity at these Monday evening events.  The staging was fairly complete and looked well rehearsed, too.

Although I've heard several of the show's songs out of context before, this was my first exposure to I Do!  I Do!'s complete score.  I left the theater wondering if a show like this could be written, produced and--heaven forbid--be successful today.  With its rather simple construction, straightforward lyrics and melodies, transparent arc and a romanticism that veers into sentimentality here and there, my conclusion is probably not.  Which, of course, is a real pity because, ultimately, I Do!  I Do! is a very sweet way to while away two hours in a theater.

Both Mr. Groener and Miss Canova were quite good.  Although Miss Canova's singing voice may not be the most beautiful voice in the world, her acting is extraordinarily naturalistic, rendering the ups and downs of her character's relationship with that of Mr. Groener's entirely credible.

Confidential to Dear BK:  You no doubt will be happy to learn that Miss Canova's program bio makes prominent mention of her participation in The First Nudie Musical!

I'm glad to hear she's finally put it in her bio.  I've razzed her about it for years.

Perhaps she was having an off-night, because her voice is beautiful, at least every time I've heard it.  I like the two-piano version - I recorded the revival with Ziemba and Garrison with two-pianos.
