Yes.  Strangely, our local PBS station usually sees this episode as festive fare to broadcast on Christmas Eve.

How odd! Especially since there's that memorable Art Carney-Christmas themed episode "Night of the Meek."

A lot of my favorrite TZs have been mentioned, but one that has not was about a girl who lived with her scientist father and a household full of robots and in the end discovered--well, I don't want to give it away...

The Outer Limits scared the bejesus out of me when I was a kid.  It wasn't until they passed into syndication that I was able to relax and watch and appreciate the show.  Some favorites that come to mind are:

It Crawled Out of the Woodwork
The Galaxy Being (the scariest!)
The Zanti Misfits(or Attack of the Cooties!)
Demon With the Glass Hand
Controlled Experiment (a very funny episode)

I also remember an episode that I can't find the title of.  Something about a couple (Eddie Albert was the husband) who are stranded on an old abandoned farm (shades of Green Acres) and attacked by plagues of frogs and tumbleweeds.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks for the weekend posts re: PNW HHW gathering....it is always a delight to see what some of the DRs actually look like.  And -- no offense intended -- but, DR Jane, more and more, I see where your son's looks come from.  You are one hot mama!

And what a "small world" story about DR JMK (and Betsy's) rabbi being a cousin of DR DIT!

And, FYI, DR/DB Jay, there's a VERSE to that song too! It begins:
"It's a world of laughter, a world of fun..."
But then I forget the lyrics.  However, I remember the chorus:
"It's a sm................"

No, I just can't do it to all you lovely readers out there in the dark.....

Twilight Zone?  Outer Limits?  I guess my favorite episodes would be the ones that DIDN'T give me nightmares!  But, never having been a fan of science fiction, I was never a big fan of either series, though the episodes I recall having seen are some of the classics, I guess.....and I think DR Panni mentioned them all.  Except for the Leg of Lamb episode.

It's a sm ...

Funny,
you're a stranger who's come here,
come from another town.
Funny, I'm a stranger myself here.
Small world, isn't it?

Funny, you're a man who goes traveling
rather than settling down.
Funny, 'cause I'd love to go traveling.
Small world, isn't it?

We have so much in common,
it's a phenomenon.
We could pool our resources
by joining forces from now on.

Lucky, you're a man who likes children.
That's an important sign.
Lucky, I'm a woman with children.
Small world, isn't it?
Funny, isn't it small and funny and fine?

Apparently, dear reader Matt H has never read a Kritzer book, for if he had he would know immediately that "22" and "Room for one more, honey" were a prominent part of one chapter in Kritzer Time.

Walking Distance is my favorite Twilight Zone, for many reasons, including it's stunning original Bernard Herrmann score.  I'm also fond of The Fever with Everett Sloane (Fraaaanklin) and, well, they're all in Kritzerland and Kritzer Time.

Outer Limits has many fine and weird episodes - I especially like It Crawled Out of the Woodwork and The Zanti Misfits, both directed, I believe, by the strange Gerd Oswald.

TZ:  what about the wonderful episode with former DR Aura 18 and J. Pat O'Malley?  Or the creepy one where the kid (was it Billy Mumy) rolls under the bed into the alternate universe.  Or the other one with the creepy kid (definitely Billy Mumy) who terrorizes the town and turns the unfortunate man into a jack-in-the-box (I still have nightmares about that shadow image on the wall).

Since you guys are horror trivia buffs, can anyone identify two different episodes of something I saw when I was a kid.  These must have been TZ ripoffs, like Terror or One Step Beyond.  I only have very faint memories of them, but here goes:

1.  In this one, a guy finds a fortune teller like machine (it was a robotic looking sitting woman) who told his fortune.  I believe it ends with him touching her and getting electrocuted.

2.  In this one, it had something to do with flying aces--biplanes and such.  And all I remember is a big closeup at the end and one of the planes was being flown by a skeleton.

Ring any bells with anyone?

There were a couple of segments from the new Twilight Zone that ran on CBS in the early 90s that I liked.  One with Bruce Willis as a man who discovers that his double is taking over his life--I thought it was very profound.  Another was about two brothers who were investigating their geneticist father's disappearance in a large warehouse littered with the dried, dead bodies of giant-sized animals.

I'm pretty sure that the Leg of Lamb episode was from Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

there were several TZ-like shows, some before, some after.  They included Panic!, One Step Beyond, Science Fiction Theater, Way Out (hosted by Roald Dahl - some very good episodes on that one), and I'm sure there were a few others.

Thank you, one and all, for the kind birthday greetings!  Is there a more perfect place on the internet to celebrate your big day than at HHW???

What an incredible day to be born!  Sharing my day of birth with Gene Kelly, Barbara Eden, River Phoenix, and of course, Queen Noor (don’t go there, td)?  And who else can claim, on their day in history, the death of Rudolph Valentino, the execution of Sacco and Vanzetti, and the defection of Alexander Godunov?

I took the day off work, my computer is working without a hitch, and I am being given “loves” by Angel and Nicky – life is good!

Oh, happy, happy day!

Oh, Joy!

Oh, Rapture!

The postman has just delivered to me an original, mint-condition, gloriously vibrant ORIGINAL window card to "Mack and Mabel."

It cost me a "minor" fortune on eBay and is worth every cent I paid for it!

I won't be paying minor fortunes, much less pittances, for some time.  It's a combination birthday and Christmas present to myself.

I am overwhelmed and thrilled and excited and beside myself with glee!

Just thought I'd share that with ya, even if it's "too much."

Favorite "Twilight Zone" episodes:
THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
KICK THE CAN
NICK OF TIME
NIGHTMARE AT 20,000 FEET

Another one that I really liked (but I don't know the title) is the one where Anne Francis goes to a department store, looking for a thimble for her mother (or someone) and it turns out that she's really a mannequin!

Yes, that leg of lamb was from ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS and was called "Lamb to the Slaughter."

I remember WAY OUT with nightmarish glee. I found it even scarier and creepier than THE TWILIGHT ZONE (sadly only lasted half a season). I remember one episode called "Button, Button, Who's Got the Button" that left me trembling.

Looking at Michael Shayne's list of all the episodes reminded me that there were several of these that I taught in my classes either in their teleplay form (THE MONSTERS ARE DUE ON MAPLE STREET) or in their original short story form. My students always loved "To Serve Man."

The “some homemade Jewish bread” MBarnum mentioned was a terrific hallah (egg bread) and I am waiting for the recipe.

If I had the ability to write as well as MBarnum I would say exactly the same things regarding George,  the Kaufman family and the evening.  I will return the compliment to Michael and add he has a smile that lights up a room-you should see those dimples up close.

Yes, the chocolate zucchini cake was very moist and delicious.  Surprise, surprise, I opted for a tofu dog instead of a Boca burger.

Yes George, Betsy’s mother did the artwork the photos don't do justice to.

It was a very exciting moment for me when I made the rabbi/cousin connection. :D

I didn’t expect to end the evening with party favors.  :) Once I wake up I will listen to them.  I am exhausted not having slept much over the weekend.  The overnight bus trip home was nice enough but I only dozed on and off.  I’m sure I will crash before the day is over.

Coming soon, my versions of the same NW group pose.
