Update from Tacoma General...

DR TCB's operation apparently finished up about 45 minutes ago, and he'll be "in recovery" for another 1-1/2 hours or so.  That's all the more info his sister had at the time she called me.  She'll talk to him later tonight (if he's up for it) and give me a further update tomorrow.  Basically sounds like so far, so good.

Great pictures, Cillaliz!!  I've made the daisy picture into a desktop wallpaper.  It's very nice! :)

Glad you like it, I thought it was cheery

Monday greetings!  I had a delightful, but away-from-my-desk, workday today.  This morning I made an invited site visit to a nonprofit development office from which several staff members have attended my workshops in the past.  The gave me a tour of their facility (a retirement community), we had a consulting conference, and concluded with lunch in the dining room.  Got back to the library just in time for a 3-hour readers' advisory workshop in which I learned about many book suggestion websites.  Then I answered some emails and phone calls and came home to a family dinner.

Glad to get a good report regarding DR TCB's surgery.  Thanks, DR Jed!

Yes DR Laura, I was thinking of you when I said "I went for a walk today...."  Scary photos of Phx.  I don't remember any real dust storms when I lived there, just the brief dust before and during a monsoon, but nothing like the photos. I think you're right to stay put. There are a lot of multi-car pile ups when people can't see due to dust, or snow fro that matter.   Be safe

Dan - One use of show music that bothers me a little is the "All I want is a room somewhere" ad campaign for the Hampton motel chain.  I can't imagine Lerner would have been pleased with the lyric adaptation, and the "Wouldn't It Be Loverly" line just seems weird in that context.

Tonight I heard from a friend that the Naked Guy of Berkley has died.  I looked up the story of his death--a suicide--on Google.  Apparently, he's had mental health issues for several years and had gone untreated.  It's very sad.

It's very sad he had untreated mental issues and committed suicide, but no one thought to have the naked guy evaluated for mental problems?????Puh-leeze

TOTD:

Dr Who: Daleks Invasion EArth 2150 AD [movie is bad but the original episodic broadcast was half way decent. Peter Cushing was the Doctor]

The Blob

Dark Shadows

Night of the Living Dead

Red Dwarf - it definitely has its cheesy moments of Smeggian quoutient!!

DR JRand, I'm assuming your VHS of THE BEST OF EVERYTHING is pan and scan. You MUST get the DVD for the widescreen version, unelss you taped it off a channel that was showing it widescreen.

Back to THE BEST OF EVERYTHING. Isn't Robert Evans just the lousiest actor? No wonder he went into producing/studio head. He was just awful.

To bring me up to showtime tonight on prime time TV, I put in HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE again. Such an enjoyable, involving movie.

'24' concluded its best-ever season with a two hour nail biter, and just when things seemed to be AOK with the world, there's payback, and payback that sets up next season superlatively.

MEDIUM was certainly a "whoa!" episode tonight.

David James Elliott is a very pretty man in and out of clothes.

I truly had no idea where the episode was going for most of its running time though the answer to the mystery was pretty easy to spot. However, this time, the murder investigation took a back seat to the investigation into Allison's "what-if" life. Fascinating.
