Well, if we're talking about beginnings, the screenplay that morphed into The Brain From Planet X was actually written in the early 90s, and long before that we'd had a singing alien in The Creature Wasn't Nice. There are no original ideas - just variations of old ideas.

Had an interesting rehearsal with Miss Ryan. I brought along Miss Patti to assist me and to take notes. Even having one new person in the room immediately caused her to begin "pushing" in her opening number. She calmed down after that, and because I give notes after each act, her act two was much better - in fact, I had very few notes in act two - she just has to learn the patter - she keeps missing the jokes because she paraphrases so far away from the setups that she can't get back. And again, incorrect blocking on way too many things. Well, we'll work tomorrow and Tuesday evening, and then have about twenty people in on Wednesday night - after that, I'll know exactly what's in store and how tough I have to be. I think when she gets her laughs and gets reactions, that everything will settle down and she'll be wonderful.

I had some pizza after rehearsal. And now, it's four o'clock already (and why are we still on page six). So, guess I'll watch a motion picture, then package up a couple of things, then watch another motion picture.

It is very muggy today, and cloudy. I used that as an excuse to do very little of anything today. LOL!

I did transfer some episodes of the old tv show HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE to DVDr. That show has a great cast...Merry Anders, Lori Nelson, Barbara Eden, and Lisa Gaye...but the writing is horrible...and some of the cast (I won't name any names) really, really over act!

And yet I still want more episodes.

And now on to Bollywood movie of the weekend number two...SAWAN KI GHATA...a romantice comedy/drama from 1966. Very colorful and fun so far.

Stars Manoj Kumar (the hero in GUMNAAM), Sharmila Tagore, Mumtaz, and Pran.
