Topic of the Day:
in my CD player: the "Premiere American Recording" of Evita with Patti LuPone, and after that will be the 1985 cast recording of The Cradle Will Rock with Patti LuPone.
Where's td been lately?
PICAROON!
Thanks, DRs Laura and MattH!
Matt - we watched the weather forecast while we ate breakfast and saw the preparations for the ice storm in your neighborhood. Stay safe!
Vibes to Ginny today, too! Thanks for keeping us all up to date on how things are progressing.
But I guess that's at least something you CAN do while immobile!
Have you had a colonoscopy?
I see my cardiologist on Tuesday and, on Wednesday, I'm having a endoscopy done.
:(
Well, I guess that's better than a colonoscopy.
::)
DR edisaurus - Hope you and DH Greg have a great time in Sunny and Warm L.A.! -As opposed to Sunny and Frigid Cold NYC. ;)
Big hugs to Cillaliz---that is even more tragic knowing the while circumstances of the wreck.
WHOA!!!
"@BreakingNews Pasadena Playhouse to shut down Feb. 7 for lack of money; theater trained Hoffman, Hackman, many others - Los Angeles Times"
I just had a nice call from DS Rob, who's house-sitting in Michigan. He took his EMT national certification exam today, so we're both waiting anxiously for test results.

how soon does he expect to hear? i bet he past...VIBES I'M RIGHT!!! :)
DR Jose - I need some DC advice. ALA is there in June and I'm looking for lodgings that don't cost an arm and a leg, that are near the convention hotels or Metro Green/Yellow lines, and that are safe for me to stay in alone. Richard has to be in NW Indiana at the same time on church business. When I say near conv. hotels, that could be convention center area, Scott Circle, Thomas Circle, or L'Enfant Plaza. Any suggestions?

Hi George,
getting close to rehearsals ?
Sad to hear about the Pasadena Playhouse. Besides the actors, a lot of good shows got their start there, too.
My doctor just called to tell me that my INR today is 2.2, so I'm off the shots and just on Coumadin and no longer required to stay immobile. I'm a VERY happy camper!!!

He should know by the middle of next week - and thanks for the vibes!
Rob's now the only one waiting for test results. My doctor just called to tell me that my INR today is 2.2, so I'm off the shots and just on Coumadin and no longer required to stay immobile. I'm a VERY happy camper!!!
Thanks, DRs Jose and George! Even though I've been given the "green light" to move about, I'm going to take it somewhat easy through the weekend.
And thanks, too, Jose for the hotel info about DC. We have a Kimpton connection that I may try to tap.
matt h, i read Disney will continue the miramax brand. i really meant to ask to what extent will your work be affecting. you review so much it seems losing miramax would make a small dent in your viewing.
We agree on HUMAN TARGET & WHITE COLLAR. I havent washed BONES yet. Keith finally gave up on the show & of course I thought last weeks episode was the first good one in a long, long time.
I forgot to mention that I was very happy about the PWOJECT WUNWAY results last night....I hate team challenges - but I guess we need them now and then.

Don't fritter away this golden opportunity to be waited on hand and foot (and leg). ;)
My goodness, DR Edi, you have really been the travelling lady over the past month or so! Hope you have a great time in LA.

Having a great time and we're both picking up work, too. Don't know if we'll take these on because they are both long projects, but it's nice to be wanted!

And here's the story from the L.A. Times:
Pasadena Playhouse will close Feb. 7 (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/arts/la-et-pasadena-playhouse30-2010jan30,0,1723543.story)
I reconnected a few days agowith an old law school classmate. we had written a song together back in law school days, and I'd had the old tape converted to mp3, but tracked him down (not hard to do) to make sure he hadn't given his lyric to someone else to set over the years.
We talked over whether the super-simple "demo" was Ok to put on YouTube and I got the sense that he thought what we had was OK, just put it on there, but explain what it was - just a slightly, scratchy old piano recording.
So here is a silly but sweet song in time for Valentine's day, the only song where I've ever set someone else's lyric, called IS IT MUSHY TO SAY I LOVE YOU? It's just an audio, no video, but the lyrics are in the "more info" section at the right.

Internet has been working all day today - many thanks for the vibes.

DR edisaurus - I forget, how long are you scheduled(?) to stay out in L.A. this time round?

Well, I'm going to log out for a while and go into the family room to eat pizza and watch a movie with Richard - because I can!
pretty photos, though not what i expect from a zoo ;)
We need pictures of the new table.
Just finished my taxes, and as usual half of my federal refund goes to the state of Indiana.
I don't understand it.....but then again.....no one is taxed more because of his or her sex, no one is taxed more because of his or her race, no one is taxed more because of his age BUT we ARE taxed MORE because we are SINGLE.
Unfair.
For Cillaliz:

It really is, reading the news gave me chills & brought tears to my eyes. Cilla i can understand how upsetting her loss has been for you.
I'm back from DC. I've unpacked, checked the emails, and now I have to catch up.

Tonights full moon, AKA wolf moon, will appear 30 percent brighter and 14 percent larger than any other full moon this year, because our cosmic neighbor will actually be closer to Earth than usual. And in a remarkable coincidence, Mars is at opposition tonightdirectly opposite to the sun in the skyso that as the sun sets in the southwest, Mars rises in the northeast.

I was doing errands after work and the moon was BEAUTIFUL!! I didn't know it was called a wolf moon, but I can see why

Boy do I agree with that. And if you are single and childless you use fewer government services so why should you pay more?

Count me in on that, too! I've always thought it was unfair.
Another thing that doesn't seem logical to me: having to declare your refunds as additional income for the next year. I've already paid tax on that money. It seems like a never-ending cycle.
DR Elmore - thanks for the DC hotel recommendation, but the location won't work. I need to be near the designated convention hotels in order to be able to use the shuttle busses that are provided to conference attendees. The one exception to that, for me, would be the Marriott in Crystal City, which is on the Metro line that goes to the convention center and has direct acccess to the CC Metro station (I like that for security). I just can't get past their $12/day charge for internet access.
