And, in other news...

David Tennant has announced that he will be leaving Doctor Who after the five specials of 2009.

This means Steven Moffat will have a whole new actor as his leading man when Moffat takes over as executive producer.

Speculation will be rife as to who that new actor will be!  Rife, I tell you, RIFE!

:o NNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Good Evening!

Dinner with Steve was just the "break" I needed after the past 48 hours.  Steve has started experimenting with what he calls "baked soups".  He put various vegetables, some broth, maybe some wine and some cubed/chopped meat into a rectangular baking dish, then pops that into his counter-top convection oven.  Tonight's "soup" consisted of chicken (boneless thighs), lima beans, corn, tomatoes, carrots, onions, Merlot and various spices.  It was sort of like a fancy Brunswick stew.  He made it last night, but let it sit overnight in the fridge to "meld" for a while.  It was quite tasty.  And the cheddar and asiago biscuits were the perfect accompaniment.

*The best part of the evening was being able to "vent" without really venting, if that makes sense.  The change in scene - and change in company - was nice.

Doctor Who writer tips History Boy to replace David Tennant as the Time Lord.

This article is from September 16th, 2008, but there's no telling what's going to happen when it gets closer to when they actually start filming the new series.

But according to THIS article, "The BBC will now also be searching for a new leading man. Bookmakers have named Trainspotting star Robert Carlisle as favourite to take over as the 11th Time Lord.

Hmm...our plot doth thicken.

Why can't you watch it?

You can tune it online over at http://MLB.MLB.com.

Just click on the "WATCH LIVE NOW" link on the left hand side of the screen in the "World Series" frame.

DR Jane - As for your flu shot, they will tell you if you're not "qualified" to receive one tomorrow.  And if I'm remembering correctly, if you're taking certain OTC medications, those can also "disqualify" you.

It opens a "Pop-Up Window", so be sure to check if you have "Pop-Ups" blocked. (Then unblock them.)

I had my palm read when I was visiting Japan back in the early 90s. I am still waiting to drop dead in my mid 40s...although he did say that if I survived my 40s I would live into my 70s. So far , so good.

He also said I was "too gentle for women"

Good grief, Mike, what were you doing with your other palm?

DR Jose, glad you had a much needed night out, and a healthy meal.:)

:)

...Then after I left Steve's place, I then headed over to Wal-Mart... Then Target... Then Ukrop's... Then back to Target.  My mom's main nurse suggested that she start "taking" Glucerna and/or the No Sugar Added (NSA) Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks.  Wal-Mart didn't have any of the NSA mixes.  Target didn't either.  Ukrop's did have the NSA in Chocolate, but since my Mom wanted the Vanilla or Strawberry, I headed back over to Target to buy a six-pack each of the Vanilla and Strawberry Glucerna shakes.

*Target and Ukrop's are in the same strip mall, and the walk back and forth was quite refreshing - and, again, much needed.  I don't seem to walk (enough) when I visit Richmond, unlike I do when I'm up in NYC.

good evening everyone.  I'm sorry that once again I wasn't on much today.  Toby, aka Sir Fussalot, is giving me all I can handle these days.  He's finally conked out in my lap.  My right elbow is killing me from having his head on it for over two hours, but at least he's getting some good sleep.

I hope DR Jane is feeling better today.

For anyone who has this flu - heed what you've already heard on this here site from those of us who HAVE had it - it does not go away quickly.  It hangs on for dear life.  It's at least two to three weeks long.

bk - I think you had a sinus and/or bronchial infection which you did not "treat" in the proper way until it had started to run its course.  Still, regardless of what you had, a period of rest and eating sensibly would have helped to "cure" you faster.

-Just my two cents.  That's all.

*I can tell it's going to take a while for me to let go of this "parental mode".  ;)

I hope she enjoys the drinks.

I just hope she drinks them.  She's actually lost some more weight since coming home from the hospital.  That can be a normal occurrence, but not necessarily a desirable one.

DR Jose, and if she doesn't like them will she still drink them?

I think she'll like them.  It's more a matter of making sure she eats something every few hours, instead of having "big meals" every five to six hours.  Not only will that help regulate her blood sugar, but since her stomach is still "small" from her hospital stay, that will help avoid getting sick after eating (which, unfortunately, is what happened last night). :-\

*I don't want to reveal all of mom's "secrets" here on HHW, but her years as a Registered Dietitian seemed to have only applied to her patients, and not to herself. -If you get my drift.  Even my Dad is getting tired of hearing, "I know, I know..."

I'm home from work and Miss Dixie Bell and I have shared a piece of Doggie Birthday Cupcake while I read to her all the lovely birthday greeting on this most fabulous site.
She enjoyed the cake and the greetings, which were accompanied by many belly scratches.
Wrooof, wererwoooof, groooof. . .wrroooff. (That's Dixie Bell's way of saying "THANK YOU").

I think what I had was the flu.  Everyone I've talked to who's had it felt exactly as I did, had it exactly as long as I did, and still had the residual cough for weeks.

Will we have a new version this year?

der Brucer

Nope, DR der Brucer, because the departmental Halloween party is tomorrow.  I will be on the road from SE Wisconsin to SW Ohio and won't return to work until Friday.  Well, maybe I'll have a picture or two to post, but I won't be in any of them.
