Last night Alexander Revisited - The Final Cut.  This is director Oliver Stone's third and final version of his film Alexander starring Colin Farrell.

It is now 3 1/2 hours long.  I did not see the Director's Cut, I only saw the original, but this version is much improved and very impressive.

As Stone says in the introduction, "If you liked Alexander to begin with, you will like it more - if you hated it before, you will still hate it."

Some battles and relationships are clarified.  The CGI is still TOO MUCH, but I really like the costumes, makeup, and music.  And Farrell's character as Alexander is much more the "great" in this version.

If you liked it the first time around - this reedited version might be interesting to you.  It is not linear, time goes back and forth, but titles (especially during the battle that opens the film) will keep you on track.

And it only cost $5 at Wal Mart.

The optician just called to check on how I'm doing with my new glasses and she's concerned about my inability to use them at the computer.  I'm going in tomorrow morning for some diagnostics that may result in having the lenses remade.

Sometimes kids can say the sweetest things.

Yesterday my niece (3)and I were making muffins (blueberry/strawberry - her decision).

Right before i was going to put them in the oven she turned to me and said, "auntie, make sure you put on the gloves cause i don't want you to get another burn".

Awwww. :)

Good, vibes it works!  Progressive lenses should work at the computer.  Before you go it might be helpful to measure the distance from your eyes to the computer.

What a strange day! I haven't stopped running but, outside of the laundry and mopping the floor, I've accomplished nothing I planned to do. I just got back from Toyland, and it was a good but unexpected meeting. Hopefully, I can now continue with my planned programming today.

I'm sure the weekend that is airs I will be talking a lot about it ahead of time abd afterward.

I think I only paid $10 or $11 for the Blu-ray. One of these days I'll get around to it. I liked the theatrical version quite a bit.

I did have lunch out with best friend John. He was home today with his ids, but they decided not to join us.

The snow, by the way, is about halfway gone! Can't believe it. It's still very cold outside.

I spent most of the afternoon watching the Blu-ray of BATMAN (1989 version). I've seen the movie many times, and each time I've grown less fond of the Vicki Vale character (played by Kim Basinger). The romance develops too quickly, she's let it too soon about Bruce's identity, etc.

The Blu-ray is not a revelation. It's nice and sharper than the DVD, of course, but it's not a huge leap in quality, and neither is the Dolby TrueHD sound. I think Warners has used DNR some on the film. The people don't look waxy, but I looked hard for some film grain, and most of it looked very smooth to me.

I listened to about a half hour of the commentary. Tim Burton certainly never runs out of anything to say. A good listen.

I still have hours of bonus features to watch tonight.

I'm going to have to check, but I think der B has Anya on vinyl.  The cover certainly looks familiar.

Nope - but we do have Illya, Darling and Donnybrook!

Linda and Kevin have left, and we had a good session.  I managed to proof both booklets and the changes were implemented, and those have been sent off for approval, which will hopefully come very soon.  Additionally, and this is NOT for publication ANYWHERE yet, we will be doing the first ever CD release of Illya Darling.

Now I must jump off-line and do a little writing and then head back down to tackle those pages of bonus features on BATMAN (Blu-ray).

Progressive lenses should work at the computer.  Before you go it might be helpful to measure the distance from your eyes to the computer.

In addition to distance, a key measurement is the angle of depression/elevation (from the horizantal) betwen the bridge of your nose and the mid point of the screen - are you looking up or down at the mid-point of the screen, and by how much; screen size is also an issue.

We never really got the second round of snow predicted for Manhattan. The snow we have now is slush (Jose's back yard may still be pretty) and it will probably be gone by the weekend when the rain and 50-60 degree temperatures come back.

I'd love to know, in your own very uniquely opaque verbiage, why DRG couldn't deal with this one.  The names may be changed to protect the incompetent.  ;)

Here at home, I like to look at the screen pretty much straight-on.  When I was working, this was always a major issue between generations - those of us wearing bifocals didn't want the monitors on top of the CPUs and the young whipper-snappers did.
