Well, you've read the notes, the notes were once again vocal, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're on their way to the MOOart Theater to see a pre-show.
-
And the word of the day is: SEDULOUS!
-
Happy Birthday to JRand and to Jose!
-
Had fun at the Nuart - not really my thing, but the kids who did Honey What'cha Doin' Tonight were cute and they showed the trailer, so that was fun.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And, boy, have the celebrations begun! <hiccup>
-
Thank You, bk, for the Birthday Wishes!
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BIRTHDAY TWIN, DR JRAND!!!!!
-
Happy Birthday to JRand and to Jose!
Thank You, DR Dear Lurker Iris!
-
In short....
Dinner with my friend, Jeff, was great. We went to Jones Wood Foundry which is an English/Scottish pub. Great food, great conversation.
Then it was over to Brandy's... My friends Eric and Matt joined me. My friend, Lauren, was on the floor tonight, and a new (well, at least new to me) pianist, Matt Nakoa, was on the keys. -Matt was/is incredible!!!! Right at the stroke of midnight, Lauren got everyone in the bar to sing "Happy Birthday" to me, and then dedicated one of her "signature tunes" to me: "Total Eclipse of the Heart"! Fabulous!
-
*Lauren was the "Donna" when I was the Mamma Mia! second national tour. As it turns out, that Company played it's final performance tonight after nine(!) years on the road.
-
And since I planned to be at City Bakery at 10:00am - a.k.a. in five and a half hours....
Goodnight.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR Jose!! ;D
-
...AND...
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR JRand!!! ;D
-
Well, last night, Theater Artists Olympia had our fund raiser, "Get a Heart On For TAO" and I think that it was a success. I absolutely bought too much sodas and I think whoever bought the alcohol also bought too much. I'm sure that I can return the unopened sodas, so that's not too bad. I don't know about the booze.
-
As far as the raffle baskets go, my friend Shelly won the barbecue basket that my sister and I put together! AND Shelly actually won two, count 'em TWO baskets! AND my friend Margo won a prize (a hair cut, not a basket) AND I won a basket!! Who knew that between myself and two friends, that we'd win four prizes! SCORE!! :D
-
Sometime soon, I hope that the board gets together for a post-mortem to figure out if we ended up spending too much versus how much we actually made and all that. I think that it's important for any future events like this.
-
I spent most of my time in the bar serving drinks. Nick and I were the main servers/bartenders and another guy, Bobby, worked with us for the first couple of hours. Nick and I each made $17 in tips! I don't remember how much Bobby got. Since he only worked the two hours, we split three ways what we had when he was done and then at the end of the evening, Nick and I split what we made from that point on.
-
And now, I'm home and finally dry...it was quite warm and EVERYONE was a bit sweaty. ::)
-
Sunday morning greetings! Up very early to go to Lima...
-
I'm now ketchuping on all of yesterday's posts.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR JRand!

From yesterday:
My condolences to DR Jed and his family on the loss of his grandfather. :(
-

That's who we saw in Indianapolis with DRs JRand and Joey! She was fabulous!
-
I forgot to specifically mention that everyone who came to our fundraiser loved it! There was good food, good drinks, great entertainment (they LOVED the strippers ;)) and all of that certainly made for a wonderful evening.
-
DR George, congratulations on your basket win - what's the theme?
-
DR George, congratulations on your basket win - what's the theme?
I just stuck raffle tickets in random envelopes and my basket was coffee...it's filled with K-cups for a specific coffee-maker-machine that I don't have ::) but it also has a very nice coffee mug and is supposed to have some chocolate in it. I haven't opened it to even look at what all is in it. I will later today. As for the cups, I was told that they can be opened up and put in a regular drip coffee maker, which both my sister and parents have. They can split the coffees and I'll keep the mug and the chocolate. :D
-
And now, I'm going to bed and won't get out of bed until I'm damned good and ready!
Good night, all! 8)
-
Good morning, all! I slept until 6 am this morning. Perhaps by tomorrow I can sleep until 6:30 and be back on schedule?
Last night I got a phone message from my friend Joe in Dublin. He called around 9, which would be 2 am in Ireland. My suspicion is that he was driving back from a gig and wanted to talk while he was driving alone. I missed the message but I sent him an emal as soon as I heard it. No answer yet, and I suspect he's still sleeping. He had a busy week last week: he and his lady friend Joellen are in house construction woes, his mother had a hip replacement, and he had to deal with me and the recording. Joe's asked me to visit for Christmas and I am tempted. He swears that he and Joellen are coming to New York in November, but he said the same thing last yeat and they never arrived.
I got a lovely email this morning from my close personal friend Stephen Rea, which made my morning. I may watch him in TROJAN EDDIE today.

Happy Jose Day!

Larry, Dublin at Christmas is beautiful!!!
We were there in 2005. I would love to go back.
If you do go you'll be visiting people so you won't have to book a Christmas dinner before the date.
On Christmas Day, just like in London, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is closed so if your room doesn't have a kitchen or you forget to make a reservation at a private establishment you won't have Christmas dinner.

DR Ben, I have a memory of seeing photos of your trip. I would love to make the Christmas visit, but I'm thinking that I may be in Ohio with Randy. Of course, I could do that for Thanksgiving.
We'll see.

Good morning, all.
Drat -- started waking up before 6:30, and by all rights I should have been sleeping solidly for another couple of hours. Managed to drop off for just a little bit more and finally got up at 7:30. Fortunately, no obligations at all today except to do some leisurely and sorely needed housecleaning. There will be a nap at some point, mark my words. Go ahead. Mark them.

Yesterday
DR Matthew posted the following in response to an earlier post
I played a production of A Chorus Line once where they dropped Ritchie. Couldn't cast anyone, so they dropped him from the line and cut his part of the music.
I believe that the authors of A Chorus Line have taken in account of not having a black Richie with alternate dialogue.
They have alternate dialogue and lyrics for a non-oriental Connie. (Instead of singing about The King and I it becomes Summer Stock. The year of the Chicken dialogue is cut.) The character of Judy has alternate lyrics for "AND" depending if the actress paying the role is tall or short. I believe there are actually three different sets of lyrics.
Perhaps birthday boy Jose can weigh in on this one.

I believe my friend Joe did a lot of the arrangements.

Very weird, and then I'll drop this. Someone of BroadwayWorld said I was "banned" from DataLounge. The fact is I'm posting evrywhere I ever posted except for All That Chat.
On DataLounge, I just decided to take Bk's very smart advice at dinner last Sunday and stop posting in the Theatre Gossip thread where all the trouble is. (OK. I admit, i read it, but I don;t post in there.)
But I post all the time in the DataLounge I Love Lucy thread, the Adele thread when it's active, the Katy Perry thread, the Beyonce thread, all the pop music threads, all the political threads, all the gay rights issue threads. i guess to the Theater geeks, if you're not posting about theatre, you must have been kicked out - weird!

We are starting to see signs of the arrival of the big wind. Oh, and the hurricane as well.
The sky is getting cloudy. I ducked out and got a few other supplies I forgot yesterday but plan on staying safe and sound at home for the rest of the day. They have already made the decision to close all the schools so I'm thinking that we may not be going to work either. Parents need to be home with their kids, both the two legged and the four legged. If I have to, I may just use my vacation time.
Toby and Sheena got into it this morning when I was tried to leave the house. Both got a few pops on the butt and very stern scolding. I think that Sheena is tired of that splint on her foot/leg and just doesn't like it when Toby wants to play. I understand that but I can't allow them to fight. Sigh!!!!!
i pulled the garbage cans in put am wondering if I should get the dogs cages out of the shed as a just in case. I'm thinking I will. Better to have them ready and not need them then need them and not have them ready.

Thank you DR DANISE.

DR Elmore: I've got your 1936 SHOW BOAT with Criterion laserdisc supplements ready to go, so PM me a mailing address and I'll get them out tomorrow.
One more thing: These might be readily available nowadays, but if they're of interest and you'd like them included in this set of discs, I can add the Campbell Playhouse and Radio Hall of Fame versions of SHOW BOAT.
-
We are starting to see signs of the arrival of the big wind. Oh, and the hurricane as well.
LOL, DR Danise! It will be several days of Fat Swells and Big Winds! And a hurrican, too! Until the GOP limits its membership on bigots, anti-semites, homophobes, racists, and narrow minded ilk, it will be nothng but hot air and tiny minds. It is not the party it was 50 years ago, I saw today where some fool claiming the holocaust is a lot of Jewish nonsense is running on the GOP platform for senator or something. My biggest fear is the ass will win!
Off the soapbox and back to the film: I'm watching TROJAN EDDIE, with Mr Rea and Richard Harris.

When there is a non-African American "Richie", the only line that gets cut is in his intro: "And I'm black."
For Connie: There are three sets of lyrics:
-The original
-For short non-Asian Connie
-For a non-short non-Asian Connie
For Judy: As DR Mike stated above.
The real fun begins when people are sick and/or injured and are out of the show. There are alternate groupings for the Opening Combination. In fact, I seem to remember one performance during the revival when only three dancers ended up getting cut, leaving the stage. They danced in groups of three instead of four, and the lines directed toward "Butch" (the boy with the headband) can be cut if needed.

The audience last night: They do a long pre-show that involves a lot of silly stuff, but at one point they ascertain how many in the audience have ever been to a showing of the film at midnight - and the newbies were more than half the audience. That really surprised me. The outfits were amusing.

Hello, everyone.
-
RIP Neil Armstrong.
Richard and I pass this musuem every Sunday on our way to and from Lima. It seemed right today to pay our respects and leave some flowers, so we did. Richard said a nice prayer and then we went to lunch and shared our stories of where we were on July 20, 1969.

MEGA COOL-AIR VIBES to DR LAURA, who hopefully has fully-functioning AC again!
-
Alas DR ELMORE - I am working on the lobby slide show for SEE HOW THEY RUN.....but after about three hours, it is done.....I may have a couple of more to add....but MOST are done!
Those who didn't turn in their bios on time.....will be surprised to learn that they are happy to no longer be under house arrest and have to wear an electronic ankle bracelet....are running for President on the Hottentot Ticket.....no longer beat their wives....and will soon have their driver's licenses restored......
-
Jack, I like your new avatar. It works well in a small size, too.
-
Hmmm in the notes and in comments since yesterday some WORDS are now links....to ads.....is this happening to anyone else....or is it something that I have downloaded to my computer?
-
The program seems to be called Text Enhance....I will have to see if it's on my hard drive.
-
JR, I think John G. had this problem recently. He had to delete Text Enhance as I recall.
-
I watched an interesting documentary last week called BEEN RICH ALL MY LIFE. It's about the dancers, now in their 80s, from the Cotton Club, who are still dancing.
I learned a new acronym, too: CRS. Can't remember sh*t. :)
-
JR here is my post from July 22nd regarding John G. computer problem. I don't know if it will help you completely because a later post from John said he was able to delete the Ask toolbar but he was still stuck with Enhance Text. But, you can give the program a try and see if you're able to delete Enhance Text. If not, perhaps you can do a system restore (this is a Windows computer, correct?).
John G., try downloading this program and you can easily uninstall all of the hateful Ask Toolbar. The program is pretty easy to use. Scroll down to the bottom of the page below and choose Free Full Downloads of Revo Uninstaller. I know it means downloading another program but I use Revo all the time and it makes uninstalling programs much easier
Once you've got the program up and running look for the Ask toolbar in the list of applications. Click on Uninstall at the top and choose the last option, which is full uninstall. Just follow the prompts, including deleting added Registry entries. It should get rid of everything.
Revo Uninstaller (http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html)
-
Thanks DR BEN. I remember that. I looked for Text Enhancer and it wasn't there......so I tried to search for it, and my screen went black.....not sure...interesting.....must have been an add-on that I didn't request.....
-
Not in my Program Files.....oh well....I just won't click.
-
Ah....I moused over a link and went to HELP and was able to opt out. Whew!

Thank you DR JEANNE.....this is my Tuxedo Period.

I haven't received any emails but that may mean no one's posted anything since the thread about Eva Heineman's birthday this morning.

I found a cute "Eva's Birthday" video,, but it wasn't theater-related so I sent it to her privately.

I had fun at my cousin, ERicka's wedding. It mixed German, Scandinavian, Brazillian, and Egyptian customs as her husband is Egyptian and Brazilian.
It was fun to reconnect with cousins I have not seen in a very long time. It was a beautiful day for an outdoor wedding and reception. The ceremony was lovely and food was excellent complete with wedding pie of your choice. I had strawberry-rhubarb pie, my favorite. The couple provided small gifts for each family attending. They were small wooden boxes with velvet lining with inlaid pieces. It was fun to dance to good music, good conversations, belly dancing, and fireworks.
I was DEAD tired when I went to bed at 1230 am...
-
And the wine was good too...

George, the box arrived....

HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS TO DR JRAND!!!

I do indeed have air conditioning once again. I don't think I have heard it turn off since I got home from church, though, which concerns me.
-
Had a great time at the hootenanny last night. I improvised on my flute the whole night and sang a couple blues tunes. Really a lot of fun. I even walked home at 1:30 am in a light fog. It was only about 4 blocks and it was really cool to be in the quiet of the night.
-
Daisy thought our meeting was at two, so I went and had some matzo brei and a bagel, picked up a package from yesterday, and then wrote the blurb for tomorrow's release announcement and got the web guy the audio samples.

Fantastic! Glad you had a good time. You deserve it.

Spent an hour with Daisy going over her show - it's still pretty amorphous, but I gave her some things to think about and I suggested a very specific structure for the opening of her show.

Got my wish! The county is CLOSED tomorrow! Hoo and Ray!!!!!! Thank you Isaac!!!!

Was it DR Dakotacelt that asked if I'd heard Celtic Thunder? I haven't but I know Paul Byrom, from the grpoup. He's a friend of our Dublin boys, Joe and Jonathan. They were all mixing this album last year when we were recording EILEEN.
I believe my friend Joe did a lot of the arrangements.

Yes, it was me and Danise chimed in that she liked them also.
He is a cutie! Looking forward to hearing this...

Thank you, Dakota. I think we will be fine. It's just a bonus/score to get the day off. That means the next 2 weeks are 4 day weeks and I'm leaving work early on Friday for a doctor appointment so that's even better!

Glad to hear you had a good time, Dakota!

Stay safe, Danise!!! Glad they're being sensible and closing down.

Happy Birthday to DR Jose.

It was another hot sunny day here today. I tried something different in the pool today. I used flippers. It was much more work on my legsthan i thought. I am wondering if my legs will be tired tomorrow.

It sounds fun AND interesting. I'm sure I have never had pie at a wedding. Is this a custom from one the these countries or just something the bride & groom wanted to do?

I'm glad you have a cool house again. Vibes your electric bill isn't going through the roof & there isn't a problem with the new part.

Living in the country I miss evening walks in the summer.

I was actually a bit tired and sore today since I was at the pool yesterday for 4.5hours. Was nit swimming. But I was in the deepend for a lomg time. And you cannot touch the bottom so I had to hold myself up for a long time.

A number of people at my pool use flippers so they can go faster. Of course when I'm swimming with them it makes me seem even slower. I would be tempted to get some except I notice I get a lot of cramps in my feet when I use them, not much fun at all when I'm snorkeling.

I always make sure to tread water for awhile when I'm at the pool.

We went to a movie this afternoon. On the way home we decided we prefer to watch movies at home.
-
After using the flippers for 1.5hours i could not swim without them. It was crazy how i could not even go far at all.

Not really sure... I know Ericka is not a huge fan of cake so it is possible that it is somethingy they wanted.

Thank you, DR JENNIFER.

I think wedding pie is a great idea.

I had the same problems when I was snorkeling. I needed them off because of the cramping but without them I didn't seem to go very far in the water. I kept putting them on and taking them off.

Thanks. The wedding I went to last Sunday didn't have cake either. We had lots of delicious "finger" desserts to chose from.

Mostly rain and some wind gusts where I was. I even did some food shopping and went to dinner.

-
ONe more try....
-
Hmmmmm.... wonder if I try again could it be the 8th page....
-
Lovely night here tonight... Clear skies and comfy temperatures
-
I see I passed 15400... Woot!
-
I think page 8 is mocking me...
-
Now I know it is mocking me.... still no page 8
-
Oh page gods.... I hereby command that page 8 appear!
-
I am now convinced that page 8 is mocking me and refuses to show itself
-
Back from a mercifully short play of eighty minutes duration in one act. Not a wonderful play, but some nice acting.
-
Thinking about food for the evening. I'm totally safe to eat about six hundred calories.
-
I see I passed 15400... Woot!
Congratulations!

'night

As far as the raffle baskets go, my friend Shelly won the barbecue basket that my sister and I put together! AND Shelly actually won two, count 'em TWO baskets! AND my friend Margo won a prize (a hair cut, not a basket) AND I won a basket!! Who knew that between myself and two friends, that we'd win four prizes! SCORE!! :D
;) Congrats!
Thanks, Jane!

Page Three New Avatar Dance.
And a very nice New Avatar it is, Jack! :D
-
George, the box arrived....
Great! Enjoy!
-
JR, I think John G. had this problem recently. He had to delete Text Enhance as I recall.
I did have that problem. I had to talk to a tech expert about getting it removed.
-
Went to a gala this afternoon in honor of Julia Child's 100th birthday. Interesting, but the star chefs sort of stumbled. But the wines were nice.
Then folks came over tonight for more food.
I need to go on a fast.
-
Good evening, all.
I'm trying to figure out where the day went, and what I accomplished. It's not much, sad to say. Well, not all that sad. But tomorrow will be better.
-
Off to bed. Watched "Morning Glory" tonight. Early Katharine Hepburn and a highly mannered, irritating performance it was, too. Mercifully the movie was only 74 minutes.
Night, all.
-
HI Honey I'm home!
-
The trip home from Canada was on time and uneventful -
no free upgrades but also no delays - and we were met at the airport by a stretch limo instead of a town car
-
three minutes left to wish Jack and Jose a happy birthday!
-
HI Honey I'm home!
Welcome home, Vixmom!
-
Thanks George!
Thanks all for the travel vibes

I've been waiting to see if Playbill and its CD reviewer would review Follies - but since said reviewer purchased it perhaps he doesn't feel the need to review it. But I just read his review of the reissue of Working. It's a rather astonishing review in a way, since all the reviewer talks about is the show, the songs, and the performers and other than mentioning that the CD is on Sony Masterworks (which, BTW, it's really not) he does not say a word about the CD, the quality or anything else. As most know, I reissued this on Fynsworth Alley with a whole slew of bonus material in excellent sound. I have no idea what source was used for this new thing, but don't you think the readers would at least like to know it's only available as a download (and maybe a CDR through Arkiv)? Why write a purported CD review and not say a word about the quality of the issue? Seems mighty weird to me.

I always wonder about things like that. There was a "review" of a movie recently (I forget which...I didn't see it), but it wasn't a review, it was just a synopsis of the movie. What's the point of that??

Welcome home Vixmom!

Glad my cousin had a good day for her wedding on Saturday....

Watched a couple of Telugu language (Tollywood) films this weekend and have discovered a new favorite actor in Sharwanand. I don't know how I never noticed this guy before. He is great in comedy roles!
