I don't know if I mentioned on here before, but last Wednesday we had a gulley-washer come through in the late afternoon.  I was already home when the rain hit, but my co-workers started getting phone calls from the Security Guards telling them that they might want to move their cars and quickly.

This was outside of our parking garage (the loading dock is in the center).

And if you were inside the garage when the door opened, this is what you saw.

Oh, and those blue tubs that are floating in the first picture were full of confidential paperwork that was waiting to be shredded.  Whoops!

WOW!  Glad you were already home.  Was there any damage after the water receded?

And since no one else is posting, one more photo taken of the street outside of our building.

There is a brush fire in the McDowell Mountains several miles north of here. I am sure I posted photos of my hike there. That's where we saw the rattlesnake in the road.

Is this a new fire?

Just started this afternoon. I could swear the first time I read the online article it said 20 acres. When I read it to my DH a half hour ago it said 120 acres. Now it says 200 acres.

OH NO!!!  I the other fire from awhile back completely out yet?  You are not having a good year and it is already early in the season.

NO MORE FIRE VIBES!!!

My new neighbor has been around the past couple days.  I wanted to meet him, so I did the natural thing...yard work.  LOL. I'm sure he could tell it was sort of a ruse because he finally yelled "Hi Neighbor!" and introduced himself.  He seems like a nice guy, around my age.  His dad stopped by while we were talking and he introduced him too. Seemed like a nice guy.  He told me that the previous owner was not willing to negotiate much at all even though there is a lot that needs to be done to the house.

Well, I'm leaving work.  Tomorrow is my mom's birthday and my sister and I are going shopping for something for her.  She loves gardening, so I'm sure that it'll be something that has to do with gardening. :)

Until later!

Tomorrow is my Dad's birthday!

Tomorrow my mother would have been 90.  It is hard to imagine what she would have been like at 90 since she was only 2 1/2 years older than I am now when she passed away.

Anyway, I don't think he's strange.  Seems very friendly and interested in fixing up his house.

Jane, the other fire in southeast Arizona is still burning. It won't be contained until the monsoon comes -- probably another month.

My friend Al and I had lunch today.  We've known each other since law school.  He just bought a house not too far from me.  He made it sound new and move in ready when he first bought it. He gave me a tour today.  Let's just say it's far from move in ready.  He's doing a ton of work he hadn't thought about doing before.  He was asking what I would do with different rooms, it was fun to give him my opinion.  He's started watching HGTV.  I've got to get him into the color shows.  He's an all walls white guy right now and it could look a lot better.

Jane, as far as I know I've never met her.

If she does respond to your email, with attacking you, I hope there will be some understanding to her actions.

Aren't the McDowell mountains just north of Scottsdale?

You did mention it DR TCB.  Without the photos I didn't realize how flooded the area was.  You are very lucky your car wasn't there.

Scottsdale oozed up to the mountains.

There are preserves around some of the mountains, but they weren't able to get all the land before the developers bought it up and started building houses there.

Well, the yard work needed to be done, that was real.  I was going to go over there when I finished trimming the hedge in front of the house.  He called over to me just before I finished.  Then the neighbor on the other side came out and we talked about the new neighbor, then another neighbor came by and stopped and the three of us talked about the new neighbor....lol  pretty funny

I am lucky that my car wasn't in the flood, but I was disappointed that I missed all the excitement.

Jane, she addressed nothing in the e-mail, other than wanting me to approve her so she could search posts, as she finds the info posted here sometimes interesting.  I was hoping we could discuss the deal, but apparently there is no interest in doing so.

Well, I was hoping for invoices in the last hour but, alas, they have not arrived.  I'd had a text earlier saying thanks for the Hugo's offer, and that she'd come by after she finished her nanny job, which was ending at five today.  Maybe it ran longer or maybe she's too tired - I don't know and I cannot fret about it.  One way or another the invoices will be returned - I would just prefer it be nice 'n' easy, like the Sinatra song.
