I used to live in White City. And if the devil is anywhere, that would be the place.

Wherever you are is hell.

DR td & others who recommended the book, I am now reading THE DEVIL IN WHITE CITY.  Our friends left it here for me.  As soon as I'm done I have to mail it back since it belongs to her sister.  So far, I am enjoying it very much.

Read it about five years ago. Very sad book.

There is a brush fire in the McDowell Mountains several miles north of here. I am sure I posted photos of my hike there. That's where we saw the rattlesnake in the road.

Maybe it was started by the same lightening strike that hit Jesus.

Well, I'm leaving work.  Tomorrow is my mom's birthday and my sister and I are going shopping for something for her.  She loves gardening, so I'm sure that it'll be something that has to do with gardening. :)

Until later!

Which is why I didn't intend to read it.   I figured it was meant to be when it was dropped in my lap. ;D  I suspect I will prefer reading the architectural parts which the book wisely begins with.

Just started this afternoon. I could swear the first time I read the online article it said 20 acres. When I read it to my DH a half hour ago it said 120 acres. Now it says 200 acres.

I found out earlier that the power to the sprinkler system isn't working - I don't know how long it's been out, but I noticed the grass has not been looking healthy - the power is also affected in the living room for one wall switch - everything else is working fine and dandy.  So, the Handy Man is coming tomorrow after lunch.

Yes, I'm back!  Our drive home was pretty smooth and we had a nice lunch stop at The Sherman House in Batesville, IN.  We made a small adjustment in our route to Mom's in order to drive past the ruins of "Touchdown Jesus."  News vans from 2 Cincinnati TV stations were on the road with us.  Got Mom all settled and came home in time to be here when the new (to us) loveseat was delivered.  I'm pretty tired tonight and will probably go to bed early.

Oh, my, here's what happened in my neighborhood last night:

Jesus Statue Destroyed by Fire

This church is between my mom's house and ours.

I saw that story but didn't realize it was Middletown area.

BK, I have to second DR Elmore's comments on the hired help. Unless you have some sort of frustration-is-pleasure kind of thing going on, I think you need to move on.

Oh, I've already moved on - sorry if I wasn't clear about that - I have a new helper starting Monday - the ONLY unfinished business with the old helper is the return of the invoices.  That hasn't happened yet, but I'm hopeful it will happen soon.  If not, then I have to take more serious measures.

Until later!

Oooo, I hear thunder.  Wonder if anything in the area will be struck by lightening tonight?  To keep it from being my computer, I'm gonna sign off for a while...bye for now!
